Wednesday, I run 2 bank accounts plus savings via a spreadsheet with tabs for every month & ongoing savings. I know there is always enough in my bills account to cover everything, I have money saved for things like car tax, insurance & MOT /service, and I keep tabs on my spending account by checking the app daily.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

^ I probably need to set something up like that Floss. I was very organised when we were in the paying off debt and the mortgage years, but I really have been much more lax the past few years.2025 GOALS

My late DH offered to show me the latest online bank account offering but laughed and looked at me saying you won't use it will you - you'll get a book. He knew me well. I also have a book to record daily spends on things like groceries and a section showing the annual payments due throughout the year. (car tax etc). I can always easily see what's coming up. I also have a savings book for various accounts. At end of each month I transfer totals to my simple spreadsheet on computer.

Hi all,
A gentle reminder that the Forum is a place for MoneySaving support and discussions, and we ask that users avoid posting about non-MoneySaving matters (such as politics, current affairs, ongoing legal/criminal cases and so on). This is to help keep the Forum on topic, friendly and avoid potential legal issues.

Noted JC.
I would love to record our spending, I used to be on the ball with it when I was on my own. On occasion I have wrestled the reins from Mr V,it's been better than I was expecting. I am not a big spender.I enjoy a charity shop more than a Mall.
Saying that we have just been to Buxton, food shopping. Visited a chazzer, £2 spent on a glittery Roman Originals cruise top and £2 on a new to me Caithness glass vase. I also purchased a cotton dust sheet,£7.99. New btw. This is to be the back of the quilt. Over £80 now !!!
Lovely dresses Siebrie, you should treat yourself more often.
Liverpool Anne, I don't know how you are powering through the heat whilst gardening. I only venture outside after 7pm. Our local garden show is on in September if you fancy it.
I haven't thought of moving North, but I am looking in South Yorkshire. Family is in Sheffield, Nottingham and Oxford. There is a house quite near us that we had dismissed which is looking more palatable as the dire search goes on. There is a bungalow that I like but there is no view. Nice garden but no view. The electrician search, I have all my trusted trades people, I would have to start afresh if we move away.
2 tops and a cardigan in a bag for the charity shop.Undecided on another cardigan, I don't know why I buy sleeveless tops cos then I have to have my arms covered too!

Still going to move but the flat I'm going to hasn't been emptied yet. Still full of stuff to go to auction but nothing sems to be happening..
Sold a few bits on e-bay. I'll look at the totals tomorrow.
Too hot and stuffy to do much/ I want/need the thunder storm some of you had.
Will go and catch up on some of the 300 posts I've missed
Take care everyone.

We haven’t had any storms at all. West Isle of Wight seldom gets a storm and we could do with one right now. It’s 2300hrs and still 82 in our house. Heat does not agree with either of us so roll on winter. Nothing has been done here as too hot, that’s another good thing about winter: you can move and do stuff without sweating your eyeballs out.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

We had "rain" today - 20 whole drops on the windshield of my car. If I hadn't been driving down the street, I would have thought it was just someone's lawn sprinkler. But now they are talking about thunderstorms in our mountains. It hasn't been cooling things off though. It was 40C at my sister's up in the hills.
Will need to rearrange a lot in the next couple of weeks as my roommate Di needs to have cataract surgery then - and I need to have things arranged so I can feed the cats if she can't. She probably can, but we need to be prepared. She thinks she will need help with everything including putting the drops in her eyes. I did mine myself as she wouldn't help, so I don't know why she expects the extra help from me. I won't be home when she needs some of it done - so she will have to learn eventually.
Still working on clearing out the kitchen and arranging the pantry shelves. Have to if we are going to go grocery shopping tomorrow. May have to just get the basics and buy other items as the month goes along as almost nothing more will fit in the fridge or freezer. Have told everyone that we have to clean out the fridge tomorrow morning. Let's see what happens.
Keep cool everyone if you can. In just a few months, we will be wishing it was warmer.14 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Thursday was another hot & sunny day - already 25C at 11:00 set to rise to 27C. Woke up to the news that we have won 3 more medals 🥳 now on 20 (6, 7, 7) but have dropped to Sixth in the Medals Table 🙁 Wrote a shopping list for DH as he & DSis are going to sm whilst I went to the dental hygienist. Got a lift to the station. DLR trains were fine but the Central Line was unbearably hot. Arrived with 10 minutes to spare & ended up waiting 20 minutes 🤷♀️ Appointment went quite well although I did wince a couple of times 😣 I had intended to have a shandy on the way home but wanted to get home asap just to cool down 😉 Got home just before 17:00. DH & DSis had put away all the shopping 👏 About 18:15 the heavens opened & thunder cracked but only for about 30 minutes. Fortunately I had checked the forecast & DSis managed to get all her washing in before the heavens opened 😉 I had hoped the rain would clear the air but it didn’t & it was muggy all night. Dinner was home cooked steak burger in a bun with bacon, cheese & all the trimmings. Delicious 🤤 Wudupa.

While not bringing lots of cs or free things in I have bought online things but all but one will.be returned but doing little on physical declutter. Would like to blame the heat but think work is v busy and working late, one new person started but will take time getting up to speed.
Dd1 struggling but doing her best and offered to help with my decluttering but now this may not happen and she says difficult when I then want to keep stuff and said clothes and jewelleu she would.prefer to help.with and that all.my clothes are the same ( true). Says no hope with me and crockery and that someone who really.loves on their own shouldn't need more than 20.plates.
I am setting myself a target of 100 things out but with the hope a 20% is at least achieved. Problem is that nothing goes with anything and can't decide I'd plain while, the early art nouveau or amber or clear duralex/ aroroc is more me or is like being in a cafe. No confidence at the moment in my choices.
