MrsSD the guitars are DHs. He buys and sells to bring a little extra money in, he’s a very clever chap and knows his stuff.I like the idea of doing a little every day so today I tackled my craft pens. I have way too many so they got sorted, tested every single one and the dried up ones went in bin, the ones I know I won’t use, like two loads of watercolour pencils, went in CS bag and the rest were properly sorted and I have space! Also took some bralets to CS bag.Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

hi chums, almost out of data on my phone so not too sure if this will post or not
ive been tooing and froing to the IoW since 1962 as I married my late husband and he and all his family are islanders.
my youngest DD said about 6-7 years ago when her kids are grown and flown she wanted to move over here permanently as a child she spent so much time growing up here and visiting her Grandmother and Granddad, we had planned it for so long and last year with all the illness and operations and hospitalisations I decided it’s time we did it. Her youngest of her five children was in his second year at Uni and the other four had flown the nest so in February we came down for a week to view some ad both our houses had sold within 3 weeks of each other. The third house ticked all the boxes and we bought it. After lots of holdups in my DDs chain , mainly from the bottom buyer we finally completed yesterday and made our big move.Today we have lots of unpacking to do but it’s lovely and bless them three neighbours knocked to day welcome which was really nice.
DD doesn’t start her new job until next Tuesday so we shall 🤞 emptied a lot more boxes by then.We have a little bit of building work we want done plus some decorating but we have lots of time now to sort it out. When my late OH and I downsized in 1995 he wanted to return here but we had 6 grandchildren who were only small then and we decided that we just couldn’t leave them, so we moved down into Kent from London to be closer to them as we had both retired by then
Sadly I lost him in 2003 so we only had 8 years of retirement. But the following year my youngest grandson was born and I helped DD and my son-in-law to raise their five children.
they have all grown up and started their own careers and DD said it was now our time.
We have brought my husbands ashes home with us so he is back on his beloved island again and will be with me when I shuffle off.
Not for a good while yet hopefully 🤣 So a new stage of my life has begun and DD and my son-in-law and I all get along really well as we are a close knit family.
Her boys have already sorted out the summer and as two are teachers they will be spending a good deal of the summer with us. Ones is a merchant banker and as such he does work a lot at home anyway so it really doesn’t matter where he is as he can work from his laptop 🤣 the youngest one has bagged the end of August with his girlfriend for a few days before he starts his last year at Uni in Essex so all the boys will be over to see us at some point in the next two months. Then we will have a big family Christmas as we do every year,
I'm glad we took the plunge and now it’s just probably decluttering stuff we have doubled up on. 🤣
so it’s inwards and upwards for the three of us.
Hope everyone is ok and today the sun shone and we actually saw a blue sky 👍
take care everyone I will return as soon as our Wightfibre wi-fi is connected later this week 🤞👍
cheers chums

Love it that you made the move finally. Have fun with the decluttering - seeing what each of you brought over can be interesting to see what is duplicated and what isn't. Hugs for getting settled in with no problems including from the weather.13

@Soontobeoap, wow lovely crafting..I do feel I should donate my supplies to someone who could do more with them , and great for charity.
@London_1 sounds a good start and summer planned.15 -
Hi all,
@Vulpix as soon as ln returns from her holibobs I will get the details of where they stay in Jersey and pm you
@Mrs SD I will only be getting one outfit. We will be indoors for most of the time so I am looking for a linen set, trousers and top that I will be able to wear for smartish again. I have some shoes and a bag that I can use. I would love to get a hat but it's not that sort of wedding. If it's cold or wet I have a coat I can wear for getting between the registry office and the venue for the celebration. They have said no gifts as they are set up in their house but OH is doing their cake and we will be doing some wedding favours for them
@Soontobeoap great craft makes. If you don't mind me asking where do you sell them to raise the money for charity? Or do you donate the items for the charity to sell?. Just curious as I have loads of craft stuff to use up and while I love making things I don't want to keep everything I make
@London_1 great news that you finally made it. Looking forward to hearing how the unpacking is going
Yesterday was monsoon weather here and it continued raining on and off today. Luckily we live on a rise as the end of the road was flooded. It has cleared now but some roads were flooded until this afternoon. So as I couldn't get out into the garden I had a bit of a mooch in the conservatory. It was a bit restricted as I couldn't move anything into the garden to get some working room. Anyhow I tackled a few boxes and a bag. 4 boxes recycled and things put away or binned. I found more toiletriesso they have been put with the rest to be used up. 4 gift bags were also recycled. I found more so had a sort through and got rid of some tatty ones though I can probably go through them again and get rid of more, it just seems a waste if they can be used. This is a big problem for me, if there is nothing wrong with something and I know I will use it at some point I can't just bin it. Also the kitchen recycling and lr bin have been emptied. I have spent some time on the union thing and I will be out for a few hours tomorrow meeting up with the member to complete some forms, then when I get home I will need to email it all off so I am not expecting a lot else to be done.
Off to bed now as I have an early start. Hugs to everyone who would like one

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
I finally got around to dropping off a couple of bags of donations at my usual CS. I left the house about 12:30 & was back indoors by 14:30 having also posted birthday cards & competition entries, popped into MrS, WHSmith & Cards Direct. The following items were in the bags: large roll of bubblewrap; towelling dressing gown; pair of unwanted sandals from DSis; pair of DH’s boots (hardly worn); long shoehorn (for boots); 4 x scarf/neck & shoulder warmer with button (aka mini shawl or sharf - SHawl + scARF); baby blanket in basketweave stitch; beanie; 5’7” long basketweave stitch scarf; 2 short feather & fan stitch scarves; 101 plaited bookmarks (counting as 10); bead bracelet; several bags of buttons - 200 small, 100 small & 50 small, 7 bags each containing 20 coloured buttons; 9 DVDs; 4 pretty quilted place mats; pair of socks; 3 t-shirts & a pair of winter tracksuit bottoms = 53
1069 - 1121 Items to CS
I was rather warm by the time I got home as I had worn DH’s RAF waterproof Jeltex jacket as I didn’t trust the weather forecast 😂 I managed to update my accounts before wasting the rest of the afternoon by nodding off in between watching episodes of Law & Order 😉 Dinner - DH finished his Chinese, DSis had lo creamy bacon & pea linguine & I had cheesy beans on toast. Wudupa.
1122 - 1123 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans - recycled
1124 Kitchen detritus binned
vulpix, great cheerleading 😊 I was sorely tempted to shred my To Do lists but common sense prevailed 😂 Hope MrV’s wisdom tooth extraction goes well 🤞 You have a busy weekend planned so fingers crossed for a dry & sunny couple of days 🤞
Falling asleep again so I am off to bed & will catch up tomorrow. Cwtches to all 🤗 sleep tight 😴

Mrs SD, Mr V and I have both had shall we say, interesting lives before we met ! we are luckily very well matched and very lucky to have met. Thank you, old neighbour for setting us up on a blind date! I think I could be described as an impulsive risk taker. Mr V is more a roll with the situation kinda guy, so he does sort of follow in my wake! ... and he loves it. haha.
The best laid plans and all that. DD1 and OH missed their connecting flight last night because their first flight was delayed. So they stayed in a hotel in Aberdeen, got the next flight to Manchesrer and have just rolled in by public transport as Mr V is at work in Derby. It did mean we had to eat loadsa lasagne and then too many snacks whilst watching the football. Anyhoo, they are here now and catching up with the snacks already.
Soontobeoap, lovely work there. I am with LiverpoolAnne, I enjoy making things but don't want to keep everything I make. I finished knitting a hat last night and am half way through another. 2 balls of wool left and then my stash of wool is used up! Fabric is in my sights next. I am determined not to buy any supplies until all my current UFO's are finished.
Thank you LiverpoolAnne, no rush. I have never been to Geurnsey but have been to Jersey. I am another who has never been to the Isle of White or The Isle of Man. Mr V wants to go to the Shetlands again before DD1 leaves. I love it but it is expensive for just a couple of days.
London 1, home at last.
Need to go, I want DD1 to sort my watch out.

Sneaks back in.... Good morning all. I have been reading along but it's been so busy here.
We've swapped rooms with the girls (still need to decorate but tgey were desperatefor extra room), had 2 new sheds and a mountain of appointments.
I don't think much has left the house yet but I know I have forgotten to add lots of stuff to my list.
I've just spent a while sorting the wrapping paper bag that came out of our room but it hasn't been used in a few years so the rest is in a box in the conservatory. I went to get it to put it all together and a big spider has made its home in the box so DH can declutter that later. There is 10! Unopened wrapping papers in the bag and I can see some in the box so I'm hoping we won't need any this year. It's all nice and tidy now.
Just deciding if to list 2 bike helmets on the free site. They were probably used twice but the manufactur date is 2016. I didn't know until today they should be replaced every 3-5 years but it seems a shame to throw them when they were only used a couple of times.
Right, DD2 has just got up so better go do a bit more.

QueenJess, it might seem a shame to throw the cycle helmets away if you think about the fact they were only used a couple a times. But if you think about them as safety equipment that is designed to cushion a blow to the head and the materials inside degrade in storage whether used or otherwise. There's no way of knowing from a glance at the outside whether they will perform to highest standard or have all the protection qualities of a tupperware bowl, so always best to look at the date.
