2024 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

Hi all, sorry for not catching up yesterday, I have had a busy couple of days. Up early yesterday for the dentist but even earlier than I needed to check out the election results
. Well done Wales
. A comment by Ian Duncan Smith made me laugh, "we are out of touch with the people" , for intelligent people it took them long enough to realise. Off my soap box now
. When I got home I got 2 LDFPA plus another 2 loads finishing drying on the maiden. Bedroom bin emptied, 4 dead houseplants disposed of, ln's pots and hanging baskets watered and then I threw away the pair of trainers I was wearing. Realised as I was going over the fence that the sole was coming away from one of them so as I have been a bit accident prone recently decided not to bother risking glueing it back on, just got out the next pair of trainers that I had sorted last week. So much easier when you know where they are
. Then I tackled a self seeded tree that has got to go. Until this spring it was quite small, it's been hacked down before but all I managed to do was coppice it. Anyhow it seems every time I look at it it has got another branch and is now so big it's got to go. I managed to chop off 10 branches and get most of them into the garden waste bin. Some of the branches are too thick to go in there so those have been put aside to burn. Hopefully the weather will be kind on Monday and I will be able to get a few more chopped when OH should be here to help hold / catch them as I chop
. I also picked some rhubarb. It is a newish plant, 2nd year, so chopped what I picked and put into the freezer until we have enough to make a crumble
. Then I cleaned the microwave as it was minty. Then I just watched the football
. Today I have been up early again as I was at a union conference all day. Quite interesting and great to meet up with some people I haven't seen face to face for a while though a few were missing due to covid. It seems to be on the rise in this area again unfortunately.. I got home just in time for the football
. There was a short gap between the 2 games and I decluttered some carp from the car which has been festering since our trip last month
The washing on the maiden is dry but I am too tired to deal with it tonight so that will be my first job tomorrow. We are going to see a friend's son+ fiance tomorrow as it is his birthday so that present and card will be out but I don't think much else will be happening apart from cake being eaten as OH has filled the fridge with cheesecake and profiteroles. It's a hard job but someone has to do it
. They will be going with us to the birthday boy's honest
I
Off to bed now so hugs to anybody who would like one

Well done. My current strategy is to win a mill and a half or so on the stock market so I can just buy a new house.
The problem with the kutundu (African tribal name for "stuff") is that I've always had expensive hobbies. So there are innocent-looking boxes with 4 and 5 figures' worth of kutundu. It would take a bit of a specialist to tell the difference between a microscope worth 18k and one worth £18. Then I have a habit of buying things I like, then dismantling them. Most of the bits are in the same room, but.....
Never mind, soon be dead, then Mrs can get Oxfam in.13 -
Hi chums, yes contracts exchanged and fingers crossed we shall be off on Tuesday .Slight alteration of timing as because of it being nearer to summer holidays our 'Cowes Movers' (yes that really is their name) had to alter their crossing to Southampton instead of first boat its now 8.00 am which gets to Southampton at (.00 am and hopefully to my house by 11.-1130 am .Load it up then round to DD's house to load her stuff up .meanwhile I shall be taking a leisurely drive down to Southampton.
Our return ferry is not until 8.15 so I shall stop for some lunch/dinner on the way. Once we are all on board it will be 9.15 pm before we land I have booked a B7B but DD and my son-in-law as they will have the three dogs with them will go to the house The movers will drop essential over night bits off, then return next day with the rest as they too will be tired and our new neighbours won't want folk unloading at 10 at night.
I got a place not too far away from the new house so at least I'll have an over night sleep and breakfast before going to help sort out stuff.
We won't get our new wi-fi until Friday as Virgin don't service the IoW and we will have WightFibre so I will be off line for a couple of days.
DD starts her new job on 16th so she will have a few days off as well to organise stuff.
Lots to do, and a builder to sort out for the garage conversion for my sitting room as there is an integral garage that 18x12 so we are going to get an extra sitting room for me if I want to use it as such, or as an extra bedroom later on when the stairs get too steep for me, (hopefully a few years yet )Exciting times ahead and lots to do. I am in my sitting room at the moment surrounded by even more boxes of stuff .DD is picking me up at lunchtime and we are going to see my eldest granddaughter Katie and the children as it might be awhile before DD and I see them.
Tomorrow will be madly busy with the last bits to pack.I'm certain this is the last ever move I'll make as I couldn't believe how much stuff had accumulated over the past 28 years in my little house. We had downsized here in 1995 to a property half the size of our old one yet stuff seems to have filled it up again
I'll probably be decluttering more when I get to my new place but I'll just wait and see ,obviously there is stuff we will have doubled up on as its two kitchens going into one.
But onwards and upwards chums I'l be back to let you know how we get on.I'm in touch with NRA Bev so until I get sorted I will tell her .She too moved awhile back and says its the best she's done, and now her daughter and family have mover nearer as well.
Cheers chums

Good luck @London_1 with the move, love the movers name.
@Liverpool_Anne you've been so busy.
Lazy times for me but have been putting some like with like. 6 unused cards and a book for CS and 2.lots of paper declutter and 5 cards sent or about to be sent and bottle being taken for friends bday. So will add 1515 -
Hmmm, food for thought there LiverpoolAnne about the sapling. When I was balsam bashing the other day I found a tree, probably 3 years old. Too close to the retaining wall. I did think about pulling it up at the time but now know of course it has to go. Over the years its roots will push the wall out, as demonstrated by the huge trees in the wood. I also had a very expensive time at a previous property where an existing leylandii hedge gone rouge had grown roots and blocked a culverted well. Not on any maps or plans. After a lot of rain ,my garden used to flood and also flood all the down hill neighbours! When the village went onto mains water the well was covered over and culverted into the rain water drains about 1/4 mile away. I only found out it was there after a chance chat with a very old bloke who lived on the road. Previously I had every one I could think of out to try to find the source of the water. It cost thousands and about a year to sort out. I now hate leylandii with a passion !
Bon voyage Jackie, not long to wait until you are in your forever home.
I am thrilled to see the long range weather forecast is for summer to finally show up next weekend. Hooray.
Chucking it down here so I will do the chest of drawers that I didn't do yesterday. I finished the baby blanket for the charity shop and watched the football instead.
Someone else coming for plants later, I have yet to brave the heavy rain and dig them up.

Another 12 items of clothing added to the charity shop bag for tomorrow. Too small clothes now take up 1/4 of a drawer. I think by the time they fit me again I will think them too old fashioned. Vx:17

Decided to keep housewife pillow cases, and will get rid of some old ones in due course.
Have an edwardian deckchair and was going to recover and realise too narrow for the fabrics you get and since I've managed without a deck chair for decades will pass on to someone else to upcycle me thinks.17 -

Did anyone else think Cowes Moo-vers or was that just me 🤣
Been a quiet morning for me as either caught a chill yesterday on way home from work or ate something that disagreed with me 🤕 so didn't have a restful night and was wide awake (damn the body clock) at 6am.
Tea and toast in bed to keep myself warm as it was still quite chilly here in Surrey this morning.
Pottered around and tidied up, have put the recycling out. With it went a old pair of boots I found when tidying upstairs - they developed a leak last winter and I didn't want to part with them until I got a pair of replacements...and now I have...so off they go.
Wiped out the fridge and binned some sad looking carrots...Maccy has clearly not been hungry enough for them this week!
Am still working on the crochet blanket, think I may be able to piece it together soon. Just finish the square I am working on and see if I have enough finished individual squares.
Glad to have used up all these remnants tho.14 -
I've a new charity bag started with 2 saucepans and 1 frying pan.
Possibly 2 cooling racks will be going into the charity shop bag if no-one takes them on the WhatsApp group.
Several wooden spoons will be going Wednesday, plus a hand blender will be going Friday.Decluttering campaign 2023
