Another one who enjoyed playing with the button box. My Mum inherited her Mum's button box which contained mostly Victorian buttons. I inherited both of them and MIL's button box and brazenly sent them all to the charity shop. I did keep a nice 1930's tin which DD1 now has. I have kept a few buttons which I am likely to use but I confess I also kept my childhood favourite buttons. Sparkly glass, I imagine they are 1950's.
What lovely shades for your latest ShArfs Mrs SD.
Weenancy what a great national holiday, I am surprised that it has taken until now for it to catch on. I must confess to only having basic knowledge of US history. As a coincidence my house was built in 1865.
Exciting times ahead for you Flora. I am sure the next few weeks will fly by. Are you living in a sea of packed boxes?
I think in general this house is right sized. I find that on average I identify 3 or 4 things a week to go and probably use up the same number of things from stocks or stash. I long for the day where I buy cleaning materials of my own choosing !
All sorts went home with DS yesterday. The little bike and baby walker are left here for now as they will be visiting again next week. DS and DIL are currently staying with the in laws whilst they have a new kitchen fitted and we are somewhere to go to get from under their feet for the day, it is a 7 hour round trip though. I have always had a drawer in the sitting room with toys for visiting children, even before I had children of my own. So the fox on wheels xylophone I got at the charity shop will be living here. It was much played with yesterday. Not the xylophone but the wheels, so I will look out for more things with wheels for the drawer. The little fella loved being pushed on his little bike. Btw all rats seem to have gone from the house.
Today the Ukranian lady is coming to visit. She has moved out of the flat she was in. I am not surprised, big Victorian houses turned into flats with not the best reputation in town.
Mr V has his pre op tomorrow, at 7am in Manchester. AM ! I just might need medical assistance myself having to be out the door at 6am. As they say, we got up half an hour before we went to bed.

Well, that took longer than I thought to rearrange everything. My Fitbit said I did 41 minutes of activity as it thought I was swimming. Lol. I was lifting boxes off the shelves which could explain that. I threw away a few things including a jumper with two holes and some empty containers went into recycling. I have so many moisturisers as my skin is so sensitive that I have to swap around regularly. I might have to use them up as body lotion.
My husband said everything is done and dusted with his job after the meeting. Now we need to sell our house and find a new one to live in!2025 GOALS

A few more random bits and pieces done, but spent most the day doing chores. Also made a wholemeal seeded loaf for the tlc carriage and some flapjacks that I just took out of the oven. Finding the library declutter very difficult as there is a lot of emotional things in there for me and I'm suppressing the irrational fear of the inbuilt shelves being half empty. Just taking it slowly and want to read some of the books to assess whether I really want to keep them or not.Decluttered a couple of coin albums I collected as a child to DS as he has been collecting coins. It made his day! As it hasn't left the house, I haven't counted it below.Outside of the library declutter, I do have a vision of how I want DD's wardrobe and the kitchen to look like, so been trying to slowly make inroads into that. Not sure if I will ever be able to get to a position where I could get rid of the big heavy sideboard, but I am starting to think it may not be needed. I keep wine and wine glasses in one of the cupboards and a few glasses from my grandparents on one shelf in another. Basically the rest of it isn't used at all (or won't be when I use up the rest of the baking overstock). It's a tough call and not sure DH would be on board for that, but it is in the back of my mind as a nice aim. I'm not quite sure where the stuff in it would go at the moment, but I will bear it in mind.No daily targets now, just looking for daily progress of any amount. I now have 5 boxes left I can use to send stuff for charity and then I'm completely out of boxes/bags etc. They are quite small boxes, so I expect I will use them for books and then that will clear up my library at the same time.Digital:

I sent Mr F up for a shower yesterday evening - I was watching a movie - he spent 40 minutes in the shower and was still under the water when I went up and told him to get out - he said he had been thinking.
I insisted that Mr F left home with me this morning rather than follow round later. He was very quiet at SA friendship/lunch club and struggled with the easy sum - we have two each week to tackle - one is much harder than the other.
I counted with C after lunch while Mr F pottered about with recycling.
We had been home a while when Mr F announced that he was going out for milk - didn't get it yesterday. I told him that I wasn't happy about him going alone and we would make do until tomorrow.
A letter arrived from the hospital to give Mr F a telephone appointment at the end of June with the respiratory clinic - I don't understand this as we have an appointment at the actual clinic tomorrow morning. We will take the letter along and try to sort it out.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Succeeded in finishing off two bottles with the dregs of kitchen cleaner in it! Ridiculously pleased with myself for that…. It’s the little things 😉

Floss, staying overnight was also mooted by Mr V. He has a 7 am admission next Tuesday too so it's a possibility for next week. The good thing about being there for 7 am is we might get a parking space.
It's actually not that far, I used to work at a childrens's home not too far from Christies and on Christmas day the journey was only 45 minutes, 1.5 hours or longer at other times. The highlight of my day was hitting all the traffic lights on green.
Florianna, I LOVE finishing stuff up too.
Florenceem xx
Had a meet up with my Ukranian friend. I asked her if she needs anything. She would like some tall narrow drawers. I asked on FB thrift. Someone emptying a house has some. Seems to be a lot of house emptying about! Mr V is busy now until Monday so Monday it will have to be as after Tuesday there will have to be some quiet time with no rushing about.
We went to Sheffield, Mr V had the car cleaned. He dropped me off at a chazzer. Toy car, some new joggers and 2 tops purchased. One of the tops still has tags. Jaeger £ 140 ,that one was £10 the other £4. The top I had on can go when it has been washed. It is V neck and too big really and shows off my charms a bit too much. Not becoming for a lady of my vintage. There are a couple of others that do the same that can go. Shame as I have only worn them a few times due to bloomin un summery weather. My painting joggers can also go to recycling. I will have a look through my clothes on Friday and find some more to go.

Hi all,
@elly68 I think only 10 pairs of socks would be wonderful, I have way too many but I wear different socks for different things, thick in the winter, thin in the summer, (if we ever get one), old for gardening etc.etc and then there are the colours to consider as I do like colourful socks but sometimes you do have to confirm a bit
@Pennypincin sorry to hear about your struggles, it is hard when people don't really understand, hugs
@QueenJess books are a conundrum and I struggled for a long time to let any go as I do love to read and in some cases re-read but I have so many I have finally managed to let some go. I now am determined to only keep the ones I know I will read or re-read or reference type books. As for the space on the shelves a nice plant or family photo in a nice frame could fill any gaps, good luck with them. Hope the family crisis is resolved.
@Florenceem big hugs, you are certainly having a difficult time right now, can anyone in the family help to lighten your load even for a few hours so you can do something for you, you do so much for everyone else.
@weenancyinAmerica, rightsizing, what a perfect word, yes I think I will adopt that
. I have button tin envy
@Mrs SD love the sharfs, great idea and I am sure they will be greatly appreciated
@Florafauna good luck with the move, I bet you are counting the days to the end of term
@Wednesday2000 hope you enjoy the swifty show. She is doing 3 shows here and the city has gone swifty mad
. I did have a look for some tickets but way beyond my price range but I might pootle up to have a listen from outside as it is in the footy stadium
@Vulpix everything crossed for Mr V, big hugs
@florianatwobob another one here who gets excited to use something up, currently working on my hand cream stash
lazy couple of days as I seem to be still catching up on sleep. The weather has been erratic here, bright warm sunshine and 2 mins later lashing rain. It puts me out of sorts when it does that. Yesterday was a sorting sort of day but a sieve went into the bin as it was showing signs of starting to rust and the kitchen bin was emptied after a sweep around the kitchen after OH had batched cooked. A burnt pan was scrubbed again but I have decided I need to get some wire wool on it. OH is saying we will get new pans when we get the new kitchen but these are very good pans that cost quite a lot when I got them and basically there is nothing wrong with them. The only pans I think come close to their quality is the expensive french ones so if they are to be replaced someone better start saving !!!
Today I managed to declutter half a tooth while eating an appleso an appointment at the dentist is on the cards soon. I sorted through my bank cards as a new one arrived in the post so old one and a couple of ood ones were chopped up and I took the opportunity between the showers to get another bag of garden waste into the bin, mainly rampant honeysuckle. The weather might not be right for people but the plants in my garden think it's just perfect
Hugs to everyone who would like one

Take care everyone

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday was another overcast & chilly (for June) day - maximum temperature 17C. I was up just before noon & proceeded to have a very lazy day 😉 Wrote a 5 day menu plan & appropriate shopping list. DH & DSis took the car to sm. Whilst they were out I made an apple & blackberry pie. Put all shopping away including various bits in the freezer for DSis as we are away next week for 10 days 😉 The two empty freezer drawers I had created (in my ongoing challenge to empty one freezer so I can defrost both) are now full again 😔 The rest of the afternoon was spent watching TV, knitting & nodding off 😅 Dinner was chicken fried in butter, with boiled potatoes & peas. We had pie & custard for afters. Wudupa.

Florafauna, thank goodness you are OK 😮💨 An exploding phone battery sounds both dangerous & frightening 😱 Excellent decluttering 👏 How exciting - a complete life style change - moving house & retiring 🥳 Hope the move goes well 🤞
Wednesday2000, exciting times ahead 😊 - husband retiring and potentially moving house 😊 Seems to be a theme on this thread 😅 Some excellent decluttering 👏 Good luck with the wardrobe & drawers sort out 🍀 & I hope you enjoy your night out 😊
elly68, perhaps you could persuade your hubby to move to the seaside but with a pebble beach 😉
vulpix, still think you were very brave releasing your inherited button boxes to the CS, although I am pleased to hear that you kept your favourite buttons 😊 A lovely cheerleading post 😊 Excellent decluttering to DS 👏 What a great idea to keep a supply of toys 🥳 I am hoping that the Ukrainian lady has managed to move to a nicer & safer flat 🤞 All the best for MrV’s pre op 🙏 although I don’t envy you having to get up so early 😔
Floss, nice idea 🙂
Wednesday2000, it might have taken longer than you intended but what a great decluttering session 👏
Florafauna love it - “it's definitely a sea of boxes with random not yet packed items to garnish!”
Great post QueenJess & some excellent decluttering 👏 Good luck with your continuing project to declutter your library 🍀 Hopefully the more you declutter, the easier it will get 🤞 Good luck with your new project “Persuading DH that the Sideboard Can Go” 😉
Florenceem, Cwtches to you & MrF 🤗 Hope the appointment goes well 🙏
florianatwobob, sometimes the little things give us the most pleasure😊
vulpix, so lovely that you can help your Ukrainian friend 😊 Excellent bargains 👏 I had a good old giggle 🤭 at your comment “The top I had on can go when it has been washed. It is V neck and too big really and shows off my charms a bit too much. Not becoming for a lady of my vintage.” 🤭
Liverpool_Anne, another great round of cheerleading 😊 I am hoping the ShArfs will prove popular at the CS 🤞You might think you have had a lazy couple of days but you have still managed some good decluttering 👏 Shame about decluttering half a tooth 😣 “The weather might not be right for people but the plants in my garden think it's just perfect ☺️ “ - this made me smile 😃
Hope everyone has a good night’s sleep 😴 See you tomorrow & hopefully at least some of us will have some nice weather 🤞
