elly68 - bags of socks can go in fabric recycling rather than landfill or is there a textile recycling part at your tip?
Chap came about risers for Mr F's chair - he can't have them as it is a wooden one. He is ordering an adjustable chair for Mr F.
You can imagine how I felt when I heard about 2 women being washed off rocks while whale watching - just where Dgd is.
Not a good day here - Mr F was not right mentally yesterday. Things have gone downhill today - I had to pop into SA to talk to someone about it - we had a prayer time.
I was so embarrassed - Mr F came home without paying for an item from a shop. I went straight there and spoke to the manager - she was very understanding. Mr F is obviously not well mentally and physically at the moment.

@Florenceem - I'm so sorry to learn about the problems MrFlo and you are experiencing and hope that some medical intervention can help again. Thanks @MrsSD - I was hoping that someone had heard from JackieO, I'm sure that she's deep into emptying boxes and arranging for utilities to be connected. Broadband / internet can take some time.I've decided that I'm not decluttering - I'm 'thinning' out my belongings. I don't really have clutter as in a lot of stuff on surfaces (apart from coffee table) but I have more of some things than I need, for instance post-it notes!12

@Gers I like the idea if thinning out . I came across the idea of being in abundance and therefore can give things away as I think there is a fear of being without etc. Theory is easier than practice. Set of glasses picked up tonight and some paper out ... tinkering but 898.14

Maybe we can think of it as Rightsizing instead of downsizing.
@Florenceem - Sorry to hear about the problems Mr. F is having. Hope he gets the medical care both of you deserve soon.
@Liverpool_Anne - I have inherited the button boxes from two grandmothers and my mother as well as having my own button box. No wonder things are crowded around here. Still trying to sort my stuff out. Roommate Di brought everything from her parents' house here- and I mean everything and it is all stored in my garage still. She is one of those people who are oblivious to trash. She leaves things everywhere.
Today I got my sister to her doctor, took the laptop back to school, read the first 214 pages of book, took roommate G to his doctor's office, went to the bank to make a deposit, took him to get a new phone (his old phone quit - after 15 hours a day for two years it just wore out - surprise), and then went to the market so he could get the items he forgot to get at the store yesterday. Let the county know that the roommate who moved back to Missouri 3 years ago wouldn't be showing up for jury duty - at least not here in California. This is the second year in a row I have told them that she has moved. Will be doing more paperwork when I get back from the FamilySearch Center.
We have a new holiday in the United States next week. Juneteenth (the 19th of June) is commemorating the day the last slaves found out that they were freed by the end of the Civil War (or War Between the States) in 1865. It is a Federal Holiday but not celebrated everywhere yet. Library still open, post office closed, no class for Di, all a bit confusing. Apparently county employees have to give up one other holiday in exchange as do city employees before it can be considered a holiday for everyone. Confusing.
Tomorrow my goals are to do another load of laundry, work a couple more hours in the backyard, take Di to chime class, go to the library, go pick her up again. Work on book I am writing for a couple hours. Relax for half hour until time to go to FamilySearch Center. Would have had another doctor's appointment for G but they called and postponed it until next week. So I can get some more books out of the house tomorrow.
Hope everyone can take a few deep breaths and relax tomorrow. And I hope it warms up there.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Mini Mission in May
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
To start off Tuesday’s campaign of “Get Things Done” I have found the iron 🥳 As it was so dusty I have cleaned it & it now resides in one of the empty cubbyholes in the bedroom wall unit so one less item in the room of doom 😉 My first load of washing is on but considering how dark it is outside I will probably have to resort to using the td. Now I am settling down to finish knitting the ShArf & adding a button to it as well as the previously finished one. Second load of washing done & first load dried in td with 2nd load put in 22:00. Ends sewn in on 2nd ShArf & either one or two buttons added to each.
ShArf no.1
ShArf no.2 Pic below before 2nd button added - true idea of colour
With 2nd button added - apologies for the poor photo
Dealt with today’s mail & started knitting another ShArf. Dinner was gammon, egg, chips/fries & tinned plum tomatoes. Wudupa.

Pennypincin, sorry to hear that you were so badly treated 😔 The number of decent employers seems to be dwindling fast 😔 Good decluttering 👏
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 & well done on getting started on your library 👏 Very sorry to hear about the “bit of a crisis at home” & I hope that it can be resolved without too much grief 🙏
Florenceem, so sorry to hear that MrF is struggling both physically & mentally 😔 I join Gers in hoping that medical intervention will help MrF 🙏
Gers, I love your comment “I've decided that I'm not decluttering - I'm 'thinning' out my belongings. I don't really have clutter as in a lot of stuff on surfaces (apart from coffee table) but I have more of some things than I need, for instance post-it notes!”
TC77, steady decluttering 👏
weenancy, definitely like that idea “Maybe we can think of it as Rightsizing instead of downsizing.” Four button boxes - I am sooooo jealous 😉 Another very busy day weenancy 😊 Strange way to get a new holiday by losing an ‘old’ holiday 🤔 Please, please take it easy when working in the back yard tomorrow 🙏🙏
All caught up so I am off to bed

Hello everyone. I have been MIA due to an exploding phone battery and.losing all my data. Things have lived on apace here, I have decluttered about 40 half used cans of paint, a little OOD food and have gifted more books to the charity shop.
We are due to move to the North East in about 5 weeks and I will also be retiring at the end of the school year. I'm staying with a kind friend for the last 2 weeks of term.
I'm excited but also am nervous. But we will be very close to family and we're looking forward to joining in with their lives more. And we will be near the sea.
I haven't caught up on everyone's news jut hope you are all ok15 -
Weenancy, rightsizing is an excellent description!

My husband has just left for London to have his final work meeting before he retires this month.
I was talking to my hairdresser yesterday about moving house after he retires and she said it seems like you just got here.I went to the restaurant that was on Come Dine With Me for a burger and a beer afterwards. I then went home and bought tickets to a local band night that she told me about that she is going to. I thought I may as well take advantage of being around here while I can. I also booked a manicure with her friend for next week before I see Taylor Swift. I still am not sure what I'm wearing to that. The weather is so changeable. Yesterday it was quite warm and today feels chilly.
I am going to sort out the drawers to my wardrobe and the big chest of drawers today as they are all over the place. I have been decluttering so I have some clear plastic boxes free to use as drawer organisers. I'm going to dust the whole house too.2025 GOALS
