I have been reading along. Sorry to hear about struggles for some.
At weekend , especially the extra day decided to take action, some gardening and 3 bags of stuff from there, paper decluttering x 4 and 6 sets of folders, packs of dividers to go, 3 lots of small bits as hoovering and mopping from floor, 3 x textile recyling , 15 tapes passed on, packaging and item sold and posted. 837
Finding no time during the week but trying to do a little housework, wiped skirting board in hall and stairs etc, baby steps with the odd burst of energy..18 -
Hi,
UGH, was still awake at 4 am. I am a night owl but that was a late one for me. We are off to Scotland today. I hope I nod off in the car.
Mrs SD , I don't know how you do it when you are a night owl and then go away and have to make yourself get up early. Jewellery box? I confess I have a jewellery drawer in my bedside table. I have had everything out twice. I also have a jewellery box and other boxes in the bedroom. I have also looked through a couple of places in the sitting room. I must have got rid of it last year when I had a massive purge when we had the building work done. For years it lived in a jewellery box which I sent to the chazzer. The brooch was silver with gold detail and an inch long oval of black stone. Where I lived was called Orchard Road. I romantically imagine some Victorian lady lost it whilst having a stroll, through the orchard as there was such an amazing view from there. I have yet to find another house with such a beautiful view.
Anyho, Mr V chomping at the bit to get off.
Vx

Hi chums another day of waiting to hear from solicitors , Dobbies went well yesterday and I had some lovely moving cards from my friends .
One of them said I mustn't't move until at least next Wednesday as I must still keep going to coffee morning until the last minute.
Bless them they have been so supportive and we have all known each other for over 24 years years
Both at U3A, History courses, Uni, and lots of happy Quiz nights at the local pub .
The 7 of us have been through deaths (several of us lost our husbands, one lost her husband three years ago, followed by her only daughter the following year ;(
We have helped her through and as her then son-in-law abandoned both her daughter and three children as he (didn't want to put up with illness) as he so politely put it(her DD had a brain tumour ) when she died our friend has taken on two of the granddaughters at over 70 to raise, as the other Granny can only take the youngest. My friend has a 15 &17 year old granddaughters to look after. But she's a strong lady and we have all been there for her.
I shall miss their company, and all the laughter and fun times we had.
One of the other ladies lost her OH at Christmas and she too is relocating back up to the north where she originally came from, so the Dobbies crew will be depleted by two this year .
But I will facetime them and still keep in touch as friends are precious, and I have many I've know for over 50 odd years.
Its bright and breezy today so all the bedding was stripped and in the machine by 7.30 this morning Hopefully it will be dry aired and back on the bed by tonightGot to make the most of what appears to be the only dry day this week.
Bounty ice cream sounds an excellent treatment for the blues I love coconut and combined with ice cream what's not to like
It certainly was nippy yesterday, but after lunch I just put my feet up and watch 'Hope and Glory' a film I had recorded on my TiVo box. I saw it a few years ago and liked it then.
Seeing bomb sites and kids playing on them took me back years and I can hear my late Mum's warnings 'Don't go on those bomb sites lassie they are dangerous'
its a wonder any of us survived, as all the children in my area of London thought is was great to salvage stuff from them . They were our adventure playgrounds and H&S was no part of our thinking at all.
My two brothers were always on the look out for wood not just for fire wood for our Mum, but they would make all sorts of toys and bits out of scrap wood.
Home made cricket batsand my eldest brother made me a dolls house out of some.
Recycling at its best. I have a wooden money box made by my late Mothers cousin, who was a pilot, and he made three, one for each of my two brothers and myself, and painted our names on them, from scraps of wood salvaged from crashed spitfires.
A month after he gave them to my Mum his plane sadly went missing over the channel, he was only 28
I wouldn't part with that little money box for all the tea in china though.
Not much decluttering to do today as most stuff apart from basic essentials is packed.
today I will be checking to make sure everywhere is clean and spotless for the new folk and make a list for them of things they need to know when moving in.
Days and times the dustmen and recycling chaps come , the home landline number, numbers and places for the local services, Doctors dentist etc.
I did this when I moved from my last house and the people that moved in phoned me up a couple of days later and said thank you as it was helpful and saved them a lot of time. Give me something useful to do while I wait
Onwards and upwards chums

I had another lie in yesterday.
Went to the Doctor with Mr F - she said he needs a chest xray, blood test and ECG.
Made an appointment for the blood test and ECG for today - didn't happen - at the surgery.
We had more sorting of donations to do at SA in the evening.
Today I packed my shopping trolley for the charity shop so we walked into town. We had to call at the chemist as they had given Mr F less tablets than he needed.
The bus had a diversion but we arrived at the hospital for Mr F's chest xray. His Doctor had told me that if the xray showed a lot of fluid - he may be sent straight to A & E - he was.
A & E was heaving - I had taken a picnic lunch with us as we weren't home for lunch. There was a chap throwing up in the A & E waiting room - Mr F couldn't hear him and he didn't put me off my sandwiches.
Eventually we were sent to another department in the hospital - SEAU - surgical emergency assessments unit. Here Mr F received a blood test and ECG - I had to phone our Dr's surgery to cancel his appointments as we didn't want to get into trouble for not turning up.
Mr F had a chest scan and has to go back tomorrow to have the fluid drained - it will be sent away for examination.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

I have decluttered two medical appointments yesterday and today. Yesterdays was a nice one with a lovely drive there and back. Today I had a nice sleep and a good laugh with others. I'm now signed off physical job for 4 weeks to recover and should know the results quickly.
Give me a few days and I'm going to be back to decluttering as will need something to do while I have mornings and weekends free.“HUMAN BEINGS MAKE LIFE SO INTERESTING. DO YOU KNOW, THAT IN A UNIVERSE SO FULL OF WONDERS, THEY HAVE MANAGED TO INVENT BOREDOM. (Death)” - Sir Terry Pratchett16 -
Hi all, sorry I haven't posted for a few days, I have been knackered. I usually post as I am having my last cuppa before sleep but for the past few days I have just crawled into bed and zzz zzz
. Nothing compared to what I know some are dealing with but enough to wear me out. I haven't really caught up with everyone's posts either but I will try to.
I won't bore you all with a long list but I did notice last week the local cs was open again so spent some time over the weekend sorting and 32 items taken to the cs. Unfortunately they were shut again but I found another one so they are gone from my car boot. A couple of things put in the post using packaging from the stash, one lot of ironing done but need to do more tomorrow as I will be packing for our trip, we go on Friday. The 2 union things were finished, one took a very long time as it was quite complicated, various bins have been emptied and several LDFPAand emails deleted. I have counted my list of things and will be adding 53.
Last bit of shopping to do tomorrow, fresh fruit and salad stuff to take with us, finish the ironing, or at least what I want to pack, get my bag packed and I need to sort out my road tax.
So off to bed, hugs to anybody who would like one

5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Wednesday has been a mostly dull overcast day but have had some sunshine plus it stayed dry ALL day 😊 The wheelie bin was emptied this morning - on time even though there was a Bank Holiday 🥳 DH filled the bird feeders again - a daily occurrence now 😔 & he also topped up the potato sacks/bags with compost, as well as planting out the last of the seedlings from the kitchen windowsill - flowers 👏 I have added a button to the short scarf & am quite pleased with the result 😊 It keeps both neck & shoulders warm 😉 Not really sure what to call it 🤔 Picture below
I spent the rest of the afternoon working on Project Embroidery. It is coming along nicely 😥 DSis went out to pick up prescription meds but not only were they not ready but the script had been ‘misplaced’ New prescription written but guess what ….. you guessed correctly not in stock 😔 Dinner was sliced beef from the freezer with lo gravy from the fridge, fried lo dauphinois potatoes from fridge for DSis & mash for DH & me + peas 😋 Added bonus is that I am starting to see a little space in the kitchen freezer ………… at last 😉 Wudupa. I don’t know if anyone is watching the BGT semifinals? DSis has picked 5 of 6 finalists but I am only on 4 of 6. Getting a tad annoyed at SC - so far he has told at least three people that they will win 🤷♀️
849 - 852 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, 2 newspapers - recycled
853 - 854 Kitchen & lr detritus - binned
I got distracted by Sewing Bee’s 1st episode - I really liked Don’s ‘made to measure’ just a shame that he didn’t manage the hem but even so he was my winner 😉 I will do the cheerleading when I get up 😉

Never worry about posting about your "boring" day - some of us really need to hear about people leading semi-normal or boring lives just to know it is still possible. I enjoy reading about people doing normal things.19

Good Morning chums, looks a bit overcast today and definitely rain by the afternoon I think. As i'm at a bit of a loose end until I get a date from the solicitors ,I'm down to basic stuff to just keep me ticking over in the food department
around 3-4 days food in store.
This morning I am picking up DGS Ben and we are going for a walk around the lake in our local park, and a bit of a chinwag.
He goes back to his house in London tomorrow morning as he has lesson plans to do for next week at his school.
Half term is almost over so its back to work for both him and DGS Jack as he too is a teacher.
I shan't see the boys until we are down on the IoW in our new house, Ben is really looking forward to our move as he is an ardent angler and stick him on the end of a pier and he will happily fish all day .
DGS Mikey is off back to Uni tomorrow after he finishes his stint at the local SEN respite place. His older sister is deputy manager there, and she always gets him several days work there w,hen ever he is home as he gets on well with the children .
As the youngest of five he is very used to being with lots of children, and noisy ones as well. His sisters boss said she would give him a job at any time he liked as he is so patient with the kids.He is a very kind hearted young man and even though he is doing a degree in Film & Photography he could always change once his degree is finished, and who know may go into child care, specialising in children with sensory SEN issues as he loves his part time job. with them.
But he is going back to Colchester as he is also in luuurve, and its his 20th birthday on Saturday and he is having a BBQ with his pals and his young lady. She seems like a nice lass and they get on very well together and the best is she likes to bake cakes, and thats a great asset in a houseful of penniless young men,
Mikey guards her from his pals, and they all think he's a lucky young chap, not only a pretty girl, but makes delicious cakes as well, win-win in their eyes
The other lad Henry is back in London already as he is a merchant banker, and up to his eyes in work as working in the financial area the forthcoming election is making some of the clients a bit jittery. But he too is off on his travels on Saturday as he is due to fly to Egypt for a weeks holiday so he has to make sure all his work is up to date before he goes. He caught the travelling bug and so far this year has been to Prague ,Morocco, Greece ,and Amsterdam and now is going to Egypt. he does work pretty long hours when at the bank so accrues several long Thursday to Monday breaks which him and his pals like to fly off to visit when they can I think its his missing gap year that was ruined by lockdowns that he is catching up on 5 years laterBut he does work long hours at times, so the breaks do him the world of good as he will switch off completely.
So all four of the boys came home last weekend for the last time in DDs house as we hopefully will be moved within the next week to ten days.
Just awaiting the last bits of legal paperwork to be done then completion day and we will be off on a new adventure and life on our beloved IoW at last
I do hope the weather brightens up a bit by then
Hope all the poorlies have a better day today,
Take care and happy decluttering
JackieO xx
