Not much decluttering today. The dizziness continued and so I didn’t go out to drop the duvets for washing. Mr. Jings also didn’t feel like doing it because we’re having a cold snap this weekend and he didn’t want to be without the warmth. That’s understandable! I’ll do that task next week.19

Good evening, sending get well soon's to all who need them.
I made the girls do 20 minutes of cleaning in their room this afternoon although they just seemed to sit on beds fiddling with things while I did it. I need to take the rubbish out of there tomorrow.
When I came up to bed I was checking the sanitary supplies ready to do the shop tomorrow and realised the whole shelf was wet and everything has gone damp. DD2 wondered what I was doing at 11pm sat on the bathroom floor, surrounded by toiletries.
Now in bed watching TV.
Electric toothbrush, stopped working
4 bath bombs, soaked up all the water and just powder
Bath salts
Opened face wipes
Sponge, got rust patches on
2x way OOD face masks, packets were damp too
Plaq tablets exp2021
Tampax exp 10/23
Hair curl creme, gone funny

Hi all, bad sleep last night as I was kept awake by a stupid tickly cough. Defo not a chest infection just an annoying tickle. So today I was still coughing and not up to much but lr and kitchen bin emptied. I tackled my mail which included a union thing that needed a while to read through and respond to so that was taken to post along with dnephew's Christmas present. He will be back from India in February so it has gone to dsis who can store it until he visits
. I collected my meds and picked up a bottle of linctus that the chemist said might help the cough but was advised that if I am not better by Monday to contact my GP. I will see how it goes but honestly as I don't think I have an infection I can't imagine there is much they can do. I have added another item to the cs bag but will count only when they leave the house
I found a half full box of covid tests close to use by date and decided to bin them as they are the old type where you have to swab the throat and nose and they always made me gag, plus we do have a few new ones left, OH has finally tested negative so we won't need them for a while, fingers crossed
The discussion about sizes of bags and boxes made me think about the sizes of my bins. The lr, bathroom and bedroom bins take 20 ltr bags, the kitchen bin takes 40 ltr bags. The kitchen recycling is a bag measuring about 20 x20 inches and about 25 inches deep. The lr and bathroom recycling are bags for life and the bedroom recycling varies a bit as I am using paper bags from all over the place,, currently a bag from the french toiletries shop. When it is full the whole lot can go into the recycling binI only empty them when they are full. I did think about trying to calculate the volume going out but decided I cba doing the maths
.but it did make me realise how much carp I must be getting out which cheered me up a bit
Right off to try to get some sleep, linctus in hand. Hugs to everyone who would like one
20 union thing sorted and posted
21 dnephew Christmas present posted
22 lr bin emptied
23 kitchen bin emptied
24 meds collected
25 covid tests binned
Take care everyone

Can I just remind the newbies that decluttering is a marathon and not a sprint?
Don't be disheartened if you haven't got to week 1 of your target, or your progress is hampered by life events / illness / family not helping etc.
The train runs 366 days this year - there's no naming & shaming if you aren't keeping up, it can be a slow, methodical process.
Those of us who have reached the nirvana of maintenance have taken time to get here - it's not a quick thing.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

That sounds so nice @Suffolksue I can't wait until I can clean without moving a million things first.
Just popping on as I spotted this yesterday and might help with ideas of where to start.

Morning all
Hope you are all rested and cleared up after the Christmas festivities 😉
I've been decluttering some packing boxes, as well as a lot of kitchen stuff that somehow we packed but on reflection don't want it now. So some stuff is going to the charity shop and some to the tip while a load has gone to recycling this past Thursday.
Total -
5 boxes unpacked
1 box to charity
20 boxes recycled (a few were DH's)
3 bin bags to tip
5 electrical items to tip
Woah that's not bad considering I wasn't in the mood...lol
Today it's the Christmas decorations and things to be decluttered to the loft.

Well said, @Floss, no need to declutter everyday , nor every week, newbies, or oldbies (?), it is a marathon and should be a relaxing thing,. Real life is hard enough for most of us……..
MrsSD, no need for a reply. Like @vulpix, @Wednesday2000 and the others, it’s NNTR for me for now on.20 -
1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
