@vulpix I agree with the suggestions for damp soil and would add lungwort (pulmonaria), iris iberica, bleeding heart (dicentra) and anemone & fritillary bulbs.
@bamboo_socks Yes, food banks will cleaning stuff 😉
@Brie you've prompted me to get my Scarpa hiking boots out to check them - I generally wear my Salomon mid boots and haven't done any "proper" hiking for a while....

Ilovetea, I do hope you're on the mend, sounds very painful..
Lift with DB half way back from our dad's after a tip run, and realise the jug and glasses I brought back from the CS on the second drop of stuff to it, I don't think I want, glassed won't fit in the dishwasher and jug is tall and slender and difficult to clean (fab turquoise 1960s), I knew really but still bought and lugged home with fabric from the CS again fab colour but i have already had the dining chairs reupholstered, but if I only do this every few months maybe its not too bad! Did buy a new top for the gym/classes, hoody (both will have items going out in their stead when I find them) and bought 2 new t -shirts, but used my voucher HM from recycling textiles so abit cheaper but have far too much stuff still.
So much going on with everyone, take care, and hugs to those who could do with them x13 -

Hi, Thank you for plant suggestions. Floss, white bleeding heart and fritilary are two of my favourite all time plants. Both in flower at mine at the moment. I want to keep the top garden quite ungardeny. The fritilary en mass would look just spectacular in some lightly mown grass. First I need to hire a brush cutter to clear the decks a bit before making a dead wood fence and laying the patio. Will be a while, I am hoping to have finished my outside painting and then get the house valued in May/June when the garden is looking it's best. Perhaps my son will be able to come and help me with the top garden. He is leaving teaching soon so will actually have free time. We both love a big project and we work well together. DD1 is also a grafter but isn't able to pop over sadly. She is coming in May for a friends wedding.
I have bought some wall. shelves today from fb,they are bigger than I was expecting, I will try to cut them down. It is all part of my plan to get rid of one of the chests of drawers in the back bedroom. I want to display my mid century glass collection. Sounds grand,it isn't. It's kitch.
We went shopping and I bought some wool to finish a jumper for DGS and some linen ticking stripe to make him a patchwork bed spread. DIL has asked for a double bed one. Jeeez £48 and that doesn't include the back or wadding.
Mrs SD, Mr V was blasting music in the garden, trying to fix a fault in something. He could knock up a garden sound system in no time. Just say the word and we can have a garden party. I feel like I need something to look forward to atm. Btw, he has enough electrical leads that he could plug in at our house and reach to your garden!
Tomorrow we are going to a car boot sale. We haven't been to one for years. We don't need anything but they are always a good place to buy plants.
Absolutely nothing decluttered today, I have had a day off.
Vx

Thank you Floss, that's very kind and a lovely way of looking at it. I did say to the cs the things may come back as a donation but I may offer to dd1 first.
I'm definitely rediscovering what's important tome generally and on the decluttering side what I want to he surrounded at home with.

Hi all, busy day today but not much decluttering done
. The bathroom bin emptied, meds ordered and 100 emails deleted. I checked the cs again today but it was still closed so I will check again on Monday as I am wondering if they were closed for the school holidays as the staff were busy with childcare. If they are still shut I will have to find another one that is accepting donations. OH had a big parcel delivered yesterday. A foot massager with a thing to help with bad knees. It was quite expensive but OH says it's on a 90 day trial so that means we have 2 large cardboard boxes hanging around in the lr until a decision is made. Personally I think the knee problem is something that should have been sorted by a visit to the doctor about 10 years ago and I suspect some kind of surgery is required but OH has ignored this suggestion to the point that I have washed my hands of it. The foot massage bit is quite good though as I had a go when I got home from helping with the mosaic with achey feet and I have to admit they are better after it so if OH decides to keep it I will make use of it occasionally
Tomorrow I am going to the footy so not expecting much to be done.
@Vulpix if you want a wild sort of garden maybe the bluebells and wild garlic are the way to go with maybe a few other native woodland type plants. I am still researching this but I can provide some bluebells for you as they are rampant in my garden and in ln's who regularly removes great clumps after they have flowered
I also have some ferns that could be spareand if you want a rambling rose I have about 10 spare cuttings that have come through the winter looking like they will survive. The mother plant in my garden seems to need very little support finding it's way through the other plants and along the top of the 6ft fence at the bottom of the garden
. I have about 9 inches of decent topsoil and then clay so I suspect it wouldn't mind a bit of wet as I had to dig a soak away quite close to it as that part of the garden was always waterlogged after a lot of rain. I dug down over 5 ft and didn't get through the clay but I back filled with rubble from elsewhere in the garden and then the topsoil. It seems to have worked as we don't get the puddles there anymore
Well I am falling asleep so I will say goodnight and hugs to anybody who would like one
572 bathroom bin
573 meds ordered
574 100 emails permanently deleted
Take care everyone

Morning everyone, I seem to be posting every now and again rather than regularly..I'm so sorry. Trouble is I only really do the decluttering now and again..although DH does it each week and I keep forgetting to post what he's done..:(
So far I've got rid of 6 boxes full of stuff since my last posting. Weirdly I only kept a few bits from the boxes the rest went to the CS or the local tip. I've also managed to get my kitchen bookcase filled with the books that I use regularly and the small bookcase in the living room finally sorted so I only have the books that I am going to read in there.
I didn't realise how many books I had packed up for moving, so now I'm unpacking them most of them are now going to charity. Dh ended up taking 50 books to our local charity shop the other week and has another 20 to take this week. And that's only what I have unpacked recently. I am sure there will be many more before I've finished the unpacking
If the weather stays nice today I'm going to be "decluttering" a load of weeds from the veggie plots in the garden, especially as I have some vegetables plants that need planting now
I'm in awe as to how you all do it on a regular basis just wish I was as committed..

Had an easier day yesterday.
I popped into town - my Ddil's community shop were doing an offer on Matchmaker. - buy one at 60p - BOGOF - I love chocolate.
Mr F took a trolley of stuff to the charity shop. I had called in at SA on my way home so he met me there - only a few sacks of donations to sort so soon done.
In the afternoon I stitched labels in Dgc's new school uniform and shortened two dresses.
I have packed a trolley of stuff for the charity shop this morning - ready for Mr F to take down tomorrow.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Morning all. Started tidying round and it looks so much better for just putting things away. Washing on line and second lot in machine. I am going to pop out to CS and tip and then do some gardening when I get back. I have a couple of frogs to do but think that is tomorrow's job as nothing in diary but busy all the rest of the week. Need to get outside whilst it's not raining.
449 My bedroom cleaned even under bed. Mattress turned top to bottom but needs replacing. Lots of tat and cobwebs found and binned. I really feel that I have decluttered this room as far as possible but still found a few bits this morning. I think some jigsaws could go but need 'permission' from DGS4 first.
450 Treated myself to a new quilt set to brighten things up. All linen sorted and a set found for CS bag - perfectly good but faded. One in one out!
451 Peppa pig pillowcase to CS bag - hopefully DGS4 won't notice as he has lots of new dinosaur ones
452 Scarf drawer sorted and tidied - pac a Mac put in its bag but nothing to go really
453 Found random bikini bottom and top - not a set. Bottom binned but I will keep top as can use under shirt etc on holiday
454 Purse to CS bag
455 Unused cloth shopping bag - used to fill with CS stuff
456 Sleeveless vests out - still have 3 long johns and 3 other vests for my winter trips with DD - think we are looking at Finland this year
457 Covid jab appointment made
458 Orchid thrown out (I am usually successful with these but not this one). Tempted to keep nice glass jar it was in but gave myself a good talking to and its on its way to CS
459 Ink cartridge in plastic bag as it was leaking everywhere. Will drop it off at tip on way to CS
460 Put large serving dish away and decided I don't need 6 - one will be binned as not really good enough for CS
461 Bag of rubbish found in DGD4's room - retrieved anything recyclable and binned the rest
462 Dining room table reduced to usual size, table cloth in washing and mats away - think it was still set from last Sunday although I had removed and done washing up.
463-464 At least 2 x 10 things put away where they belong.
465 Some stuff in fridge binned as past using. Found some YS Lamb chops in freezer which are defrosting for my tea.
No news on house but it does look tidier. Grass cutting when I come back as hopefully nice weather is staying all day.
