Got ambushed by DS this morning who decided he wanted to go through and declutter his bookshelves. I would never turn down a motivated child who wants to declutter and so we went through the whole lot and dusted it all. He got rid of loads, which isn’t quite reflected in the numbers below as I saved a pile of them for DD which I will squirrel into the loft somewhere.
I now have a big pile of books that I hope will be accepted by Ziffit when I get a chance to scan them all in later and I already have an 80% full bag for charity.
No idea what my next plans are for decluttering. I will be using the slow cooker next week to try and get through some of the food cupboard supplies and get some easy lunches into the freezer.

Good afternoon my fellow declutterati 🙂 I was up about the same time as yesterday - a bright day with some blue skies & sunshine although still not particularly warm 🙂 Straight into cheerleading 😉
Liverpool_Anne, a very descriptive turn of phrase re what it was like in the supermarkets yesterday “Though I have to say hats off to the staff who were working very hard to keep the shelves stocked despite being over run by what appeared to be a cloud of locusts” Shame you had to go back a 2nd time 😔 Maybe OH should do the shopping if batch cooking is the activity of the day 🤨 Lovely cheerleading 😊
nannywindow, sorry to hear that going out yesterday has set your recovery back a little 😔 Hopefully some more time in the TLC Carriage will help 🤞Lovely cheerleading & yes the worms are doing well 😉
vulpix, what a lovely surprise 😊 Good luck with the 1 In, 1 Out 🍀 Excellent decluttering & well done on finding suitable places for your donations 👏 Good luck finding a jeweller to make your ring 🍀 “Bees spoke” is that marvellous synonym for ‘exorbitantly expensive’ 😉 Fingers crossed that you find your son’s birthday card 🤞
Excellent work decluttering craft items QueenJess 👏 I think your 3 year old DD might very well be the youngest member of our ‘Declutterati Family’ 😊 Such a successful decluttering session has earned her a 2nd medal🏅 I love the idea that you have created such an enthusiastic declutterer 🥳 “She's now running around the house saying "keep or get rid of, keep or get rid of" Perhaps you can enlist her to help Daddy join in 😉
weenancy, what a great idea for a party game 😊 - identifying old fashioned kitchen utensils 😊
oceanspirit, I beg to differ - it is very exciting when you have done enough decluttering to be able to clean exposed areas 👏
weenancy, that is very sad to hear 😞 If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny 😞 (Reminded me of a TV Series called “Revolution” about a global blackout 😉)
QueenJess, great conversation with weenancy 😊 I still have a huge smile 😀 after reading “I forget quickly what we used to do and so I looked very confused when DH said I could buy ice cream at the supermarket rather than making it... he may as well have asked me why I needed to eat food!”
Excellent decluttering D123456789 👏 The present for LO from your MiL sounds ‘big’ 😥 I think I will join you in the “horrified camp” Fingers crossed that once Easter is over & LO has eaten all the chocolate eggs, it won’t be too difficult to dismantle, hide away & in the not too distant future actually dispose of it completely 🤞
Florenceem, another busy day 😊 Hope the gentleman you helped is OK 🙏
Lovely post florianatwobob 😊 I love the idea of a ‘green’ jeweller 😊 Such a shame about York Castle Museum 😔
Crazycatlady2, you might be sick of the mess but the new kitchen is coming along nicely 😊
QueenJess, hopefully DS’s obsession with ‘buying’ is just a short lived one 🤞 Although I am impressed that you managed to get him started on the 1 In, 2 Out scenario 👏 Excellent decluttering of your jewellery box & what a great idea to use it as an aid to teaching DS 👏 Good luck with your new approach - decluttering each area tackled by 50% 🍀 Stacey & co would be so proud 🥹
What a beautiful dress Florafauna 😍 Love the colour 🤩
Great decluttering zoomtothemoon 👏 made even better by the fact that you are noticing the space created 🥳
Lovely post vulpix 😊 Excellent work on the physical decluttering & the garden furniture cleaning & painting 👏 Fingers crossed that the weather stays fine for the completion of the painting job 🤞
Excellent work Liverpool_Anne 👏 getting all your washing done + washing the soft toys 👏 Love the knitting - beautiful colours 😍 Thanks for the photo 👏 Some great cheerleading as usual 😊 especially your chat with vulpix 😉 it had me in stitches 🤣
Florafauna, love the idea that OH is doing the shopping & you are relaxing & knitting 😊 Good luck with packing up the house 🍀
QueenJess, wow “ambushed by DS” 🥳 Love it 😻 I am so impressed that I am awarding you a medal 🏅 for acquiescing & a Gold Star ⭐️ for DS - long may his enthusiasm last 🙏 Good luck with the books 🍀
All caught up 🙂 DH spent some time in the garden - fed the worms, cleared the 2 raised beds of leaves - relocated to the compost bins & added more compost to the potato bags. He has now retired upstairs with a bacon sandwich 🙂 I will do some more knitting whilst watching TV (Jurassic Park ) - hoping to use up another 100g ball of yarn (see below for previous scarf) I see The Great Escape is on tomorrow 😂
Hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday 😊

@Crazycatlady2 - exciting to have a new kitchen!
@Florafauna - beautiful dress and colour
@Liverpool_Anne - lovely colours, very creative
I have decluttered a birthday present and C'mas presents to my friend as DD1 and i finally managed to visit yesterday - friend's birthday was in August!
Today I have decluttered lots of money as I have bought some replacement flat shoes, summer shoes and a pair of boots (boots were in the sale); also bought a present for DD1 who is 30 in June.
I've got my bedding drying on the line and have defrosted roasted veg curry for tea that I had batch cooked a few weeks ago. Need some veg to counteract the easter chocs oops.
Love to all

More papers gone or filed. Now have a clear dining table. Still have papers on a chair and in the bedroom plus a box of photos and holiday memories to go through which is currently residing in the kitchen. Am very pleased with progress bearing in mind the set back we had from the accident.Money from the written off car should go through this week so have started looking at possible car models online and will maybe test drive some in the next couple of weeks.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅15

Liverpool_Anne and Mrs SD - lovely knitting.
Today I went to SA at 9.45 - we had a film and then lunch.
Lots of bags of donations came in so we didn't leave until 2.45. We took stuff to 2 charity shops then popped for some shopping to Al... I had forgotten to take my bus pass so we didn't pop to Lid.
Off soon back to SA to take in the M & S delivery.
Then shower and bed as we will lose an hour and breakfast is 9 am at SA.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Hello 👋
Nephew and family visiting for Easter with a very full car but they’ve managed to squeeze in
a circular saw
a drill set
a grinder set. He does lots of DIY and these were some of my late husbands tools. And a scalextric set that was my sons.
So that’s a few things away.13 -

It stayed dry all day 🙂 Five of the six Jurassic franchise films were on today so I watched those whilst I was knitting - managed to get 2/3rds done. Then prepped everything for dinner - peeled, cut, grated, weighed & measured. DH & I then cooked (one of our Hello Fresh meals) - see pic below & yes, ours did look like that 😊 (but we didn’t add the truffle as none of us like the taste)
DSis offered to do the washing up but I was actually looking forward to doing it so wudupa 😉

Deni_debt-free_dreamer, well done on decluttering the presents 👏 Shame about having to declutter £££ but as the footwear was needed it is money well spent 😊 The vegetable curry sounds delicious 😋
Excellent work oceanspirit 👏 Good luck with the car hunting 🍀
Brie, I just watched it 🙂 Absolutely hilarious 😹
Thank you Florenceem 😊 Another busy day 👏 Hope Al… wasn’t too busy 🤞
mhagster, love that you decluttered so much to your nephew 👏 & how great that your late husband’s tools will be put to good use 😊
All caught up again, so will do a bit more knitting & then go to bed. Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday & cwtches all round 🤗

Hi all, thanks for the nice comments about the knitting, it was one of those swirl balls of wool so after I did the cowl I had to find a way to make the mitts match, it took a few unwinds and rewinds of the wool
Yesterday was a reasonable day, the bedroom, bathroom and lr bin were emptied. A session of self care, the freezer was rearranged and 2 lots of soup were made, carrot and lentil and sweet potato and roast pepper with yellow split peas. 2 portions of each will go to the niece when OH visits tomorrow but meanwhile they are all in the freezer and OH liked the sweet potato one so much it has been requested for tea
. I am quite pleased about that as it was a completely made up thing just to use the bag of sp and half a jar of roast peppers
. An empty cardboard box was broken down and recycled. I also had a bit of a tidy up in the garden, about a bag full of leaves and weeds into the compost, and found a very large planter filled with rainwater has been colonised by frogs and we have frog spawn
I am very pleased about this as the frogs have managed to survive in my garden for the past 40 or so years without us having a pond although it is on my plans to make them one
.
Today I have the footy, only 6 more home games this season and it has been a great season so far. I have really enjoyed it. I will have a look around to see if there are a few things I can do before I set off
.
@Florafauna by the sounds of it the last thing you will be packing is your sewing machine
@Mrs SD another lovely scarf, you must have supplied everyone on the IoD by now and a few further away. I have several clocks that need manual changing and I will do those today or I will be confused all week
.
@oceanspirit good luck with finding the right car
@mhagster very nice donations to the nephew, I am sure he was very pleased to get them and I am sure your late husband would be pleased that they will continue to be used
Ok off for another cuppa and a few clock changes. Hugs to everyone who would like one
