Wednesday2000 said:Florenceem - my cousin said the same about Cliftonville yesterday! She said to avoid it. She said Palm Bay (?) and Botany Bay are nice. I am going to look around Margate later today anyway just to see what I think.
I have to tidy up the Airbnb and leave quite soon. It is so quiet here compared to where I live. All you can hear is birds.
Margate Old Town is interesting.
There is a lot of building going on around Westwood Cross.

Yes Carolbee. Both my cousins said Margate Old Town is the nicer bit. I'm really going to have to have a proper look around!😂9

Hi all, reasonable day yesterday. After getting my jab I did a small sm shop and picked up a coffee on my way home. I got back to the union paperwork after I had put the shopping away but I have to admit I got distracted by the football and didn't get back to it so I will have to do it today
. I did manage 2 LDFPA, the bedroom bin was emptied and the lr bin again after I had had a rummage around and filled it with carp. Then I tackled another bag of doom and by the time I had recycled all the envelopes and filed the paperwork all that was left were a few magazines which I will go through and either pass on or recycle a couple of reference type books, one a craft book which I will check to see if there is anything I am likely to want to make and if not it can go to the cs and a few football programmes. I thought about consolidating it with the bag previously sorted but decided not to as at least now I know what is in both bags and can deal with them separately to get them emptied.
It is very bright and sunny right now but it is quite cold but if it stays like this I might get into the garden and do a bit to fill the garden waste bin but first I need more teaI have a lurking headache which may need a painkiller if the tea doesn't work
.
@tibawo well done on sorting the bin and I hope the weather is kind where you live
@Vulpix I definitely have kitchen envyhave a nice trip
@~FlowerPot~ good luck with the hedging
@Wednesday2000 very cute puppy, cheers you up just looking at him
. As for up and coming areas I agree sometimes it's EA promoting property in places that they would like to be "gentrified" but sometimes that takes a long time, hope you find somewhere you like.
@Soontobeoap, good luck with the damp, hope you don't find any more. If everything is structurally ok I think the only thing that really works is ventilation but at this time of year it's hard to achieve, hugs
@Pennypincin that Swedish shop has a lot to answer for. I find it a big temptation
@dND good luck getting rid of the old packaging, as others have said a post on a local fb or similar free site will often get rid of some of it. People are always asking for it near me. My body also refuses to keep up with my brain
@Mrs SD hope the boaters have a nicer day today but I bet they were cold last night, it was very chilly here
Ok enough procrastinating, time for another cuppa and ponder what to get on with. Hugs to everyone who would like one
323 bedroom bin
324 lr bin
325 & 326 LDFPA
327 bag of doom
Take care everyone

Thankyou @Mrs_Salad_Dodger
DD is currently doing 2 hours of cleaning as now she starting driving lessons she wants to earn more money but I don't want her doing anything extra shift at work incase it starts affecting her school work so this paying her works for us both. As she doesn't have a bad back/hip or tennis elbow she gets more done in 2 hours than I can 🤣
It's forecast dry weather this week coming so I've added cutting the grass to my list which I hate doing but no one else wants to do it either so I do it but ask fof help in school holidays or if my back is really bad
Have dentist and hair cut this week too20 -
Having replaced the sofa we've changed the cushions that were being used and I think the old ones are for the bin. I could possibly wash the covers but OH has been using one to rest his feet on for a few years so I can't honourably charity shop those. I wouldn't want something someone has had their feet on myself. There's also the box stool that he's used - that's going outside today to be moved to a suitable resale place asap.
And having decluttered all the double bed linen a couple of years back we now have a new double bed in the guest room which needs to be covered. So spent a bomb on new duvet, pillows, covers and a fitted sheet. Only to find we'd bought the wrong size fitted sheet - should have got a 28" depth rather than 32" so OH is tasked with taking that back to exchange. I'll remind him we also need a timer for the kitchen - I'm sure our new oven has a timer function on it but I'm loathe to try and use it for fear of doing something random to the working of the oven - had this issue in the past. I've a timer on my phone but that doesn't help if the OH is cooking.....
Also need a calendar for the kitchen and a hook to hang it on but everyone seems to have got rid of their 2024 calendars - there's a book shop we like that might have some so will check with them when I have a chance otherwise I suspect a charity shop will have one discounted.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Florenceem said:vulpix - lovely kitchen.
Wednesday2000 - very cute puppy.
dND - same here re brain and body.
I had squirrels in my loft in 2019 - that was sorted by pest control and £2,500 + spent on new soffits and fascias. They got into the loft through a hold in the fascia.
Now I have had rats in my loft! More pest control - went to the same company but they proved harder to eradicate than squirrels. Found some holes in the house brickwork which have now been sealed. I have lived here since 1997 and until 2019 - had no vermin problems in the loft.
Easy to tell rats from squirrels - scurrying instead of little jump sounds.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Floss - councils charge for pest control and I don't believe that their employees are as well trained as a private company.
