NSD's in August 11/2017 -
The hours and hours of paperwork processing continuing today have fried my brain, however, I have filled a recycling box and three quarter filled my sack for the confidential shredding service. One filing cabinet is almost empty and I have started on the next one which has 4 drawers. It has been harder than I thought it would be due to all the decision making necessary, not to mention all the unpacking of plastic sleeves from lever arch files. I realised too, that rather like photographs, going through documentation is like revisiting parts of my life. There is also a lot of letting go involved. It has all felt very stressful and I need to take a break from it. Once this sack is filled I will do something else rather than getting another sack. Unfortunately, visually there isn’t any reward as everything was filed and out of sight anyway. My tip for decluttering is to try not to overdo it and to work in manageable chunks. That way there is satisfaction rather than putting yourself off like I have just done!18

Hi all, a bit more productive today. The ACAS thing is done, just needs to be signed off by my friend's daughter
. While on the laptop I deleted 200 emails and filed a few others. A bag of tea lights uu, some ood medical stuff binned and the bedroom bin emptied. Popped into ln for a coffee and as we missed pancakes on Tuesday OH decided to do them for tea which meant a quick shop for ingredients. The last 2 lots of flour we have had had to be binned as they had flour beetles in so tomorrow I am going to bag up the flour and put it in the freezer, that will kill anything in it
@SuperLooperSaver and @zoomtothemoon welcome aboard. The train moves like a speeding bullet but everyone is very friendly and helpful, and Mrs SD is an absolute marvel
. Good luck on your journey.
@2Scratters hope the parents have recovered from their falls and all goes well with the ea and hopefully the rest of the week will be a bit better for you.
@Siebrie hope you declutter your cold quickly. I didn't know you were building apartments in Africa, that must be difficult keeping on top of everything so far away.
@Mrs SD glad the salad sister is home, I bet she is glad to be back in her own bed. What was the surprise, we are all agog
@Vulpix the gardener sounds very reasonable and will save you doing it when you have so much else to think about. I meant to mention I love blue john jewellery. I looked at some pieces when I was in the area many years ago but it was out of my price range then a few years later I was mooching round an antique fair and found a very pretty blue john broach. The girl on the stall was looking after the stall for someone and when I identified it as blue john she had to look it up on her list to give me a price. It was an absolute bargain for the size of the stone so I snapped it upI have worn it a couple of times but currently I don't have a jacket with a lapel so it is lounging in the box with my other broaches
. I think we need the receipt for the flapjack
@Wednesday2000 I have looked at oddbox a couple of times as well as another company based in Cheshire that deliver local produce. I can't work out if it's worth it either so I would be interested to hear what you and others think. As for all the fuss about Taylor Swift I honestly can't understand it. I think her music is ok and she seems like a nice person, is generous with her money, treats her employees well etc but some people are absolutely vile about her. The press getting involved I suppose is the way it is these days, maybe it's because she's a woman with a point of view that gets people so worked up?
Ok off to bed now so hugs to anybody who would like one

I forgot to mention that we had a surprise visitor in the garden - a lesser spotted woodpecker graced us with its presence 😊 My surprise outing turned out to be absolutely splendid & amazing 🤩 I was so happy & excited that I cried tears of joy 🥲 DH & I left the house at 13:00 - DSis was up & still wouldn’t reveal where I was going 😉 - bus, DLR, Circle Line to South Kensington which was positively packed (DH hadn’t realised it was half-term). I thought we were going to a museum 🤔 Sat outside a cafe & had a cappuccino each & shared a club sandwich whilst listening to a chap playing Rodrigo’s Orange Juice Concierto on an electric guitar. Then walked down Exhibition Road turning off to The Royal Albert Hall. As we were going inside, the penny finally dropped - DH had got tickets for Cirque du Soleil ‘Alegria’ To say I was excited is an understatement 😝 It transpires that a while ago my DSis had mentioned to my DH that I really enjoyed Cirque du Soleil & she had seen adverts that they were performing in London. So as a Valentines Day treat he booked tickets a couple of weeks ago🥹 We were in a box (with a couple & a family of 4) - slightly off centre from the stage so had a perfect view. I do not have the words to describe what a joyous experience it was 🥳🤩 - the music, the performances & the sheer rapture that my wonderful DH had spoiled me yet again 😊 - DH surprised himself by enjoying it even though it is not really his cup of tea 😉 The show started at 15:30, 25 minute intermission & ended at 17:40. Walked back to tube station which was heaving & ended up back home at 19:45. I am still buzzing & I have a Souvenir Programme to remind me of how much I enjoyed myself 🥹🥰 Having gone to bed, I am now up as I feel slightly queasy - a combination of 8,500 steps when I am not used to it & over excitement 😉 I should mention that DSis is still improving PLUS she hasn’t had a cigarette in 10 days 🥳 The doctor gave her nicotine patches so fingers crossed 🤞 Now I need to give up - as I am still smoking though not as much as I was 😔

264 Kitchen detritus binned
Crazycatlady2, forget next Tuesday, I think you shout pop into the TLC Carriage asap 😊 Even an hour or so will help 😊
Dfw38, 6 hours with your DD in London is a definite win 😊 Fingers crossed that the form has a large space for comments & that the school forms are not so generic 🤞 Sorry to hear that DS has been poorly since Monday night 😔 I hope he is recovering & can enjoy the weekend 🤞
Excellent decluttering QueenJess 👏 Hopefully the frog was finally munched today 🤞Congratulations on finding glasses & sunglasses frames - must be a relief 🥲
Floss, what a great idea to categorise glasses as jewellery that is worn every day & can be costed as such 😊
Excellent decluttering Florafauna 👏 & what a lovely Valentines Day gift 😊
I am feeling slightly better now, so will post this & head back to bed 🤞

That sounds a lovely surprise, so glad it all went so well and enjoyably. Good to hear salad sister is off the cigarettes. Hopefully after 10 days enforced she is over the worst and can keep off them. Tell her to remember the hospital experience with all the staff that had to work to get her well and it might give her the strength to keep it up. One she won't want to be admitted again and 2 she might not want to let them all down. Fingers xd it all helps you give up too. The money saved can help towards the new costs of the car maybe.
Keep on keeping on everyone, Friday today !!

Welcome to our new declutterati's, It becomes addictive after awhile
and you get so as you are doing things indoors you see bit and think
"Hmm do I really need that, can I CS it, or bin it, or find a good home somewhere else for it"
I have turned my house almost into a different place mainly because I'm hoping to move and don't really need so much stuff. i'm even using up as much as I can from food stocks and freezer, and buying a lot less stuff.
At the moment I am decluttering my wardrobe and chests of drawers, as I have far too many clothes ,half of which I never wear and am ever likely to as I was not very well last year and lost a good deal of weight, so that are all far too big for me.
During my decluttering I found around 6 or 7 pairs of slippers, several pairs never worn or even out of their wrapping, that I had been given as presents .
When you reach a certain age everyone seems to buy you slippersI think I would have to live to around 110 to wear them all out, so the unworn still in their packet ones went to the CS
I threatened all of my family that I never wanted to see another new pair of slippers for several years at leastWhen I was in hospital last autumn my eldest DD even brought me a new pair into hospital when my existing pair were fine ! ! ! .Bless her I know she meant well.
.
I have three bags of stuff today for the CS, and last night I had a nice phone call from my friend in Colchester to say thank you for sending the photos and papers back.
I had done her family tree for her about 10 years ago, and the research for her Granny was in an envelope along with photos that she had given me to help sort out who was who and where they were at the time.
When going through my upstairs computer room/ study which was full of boxes of research I had found this envelope of stuff, so I had sent it off to her (more paperwork decluttered ) she was so pleased and had forgotten about the photos.
I also spoke to one of my DGS and said next time he is home (he works at a boarding school teaching) he can have his pick of cleaning stuff from the cupboard under the sink which is crammed full of bottles, sprays and boxes of stuff. I had a tendency to think if I saw cleaning stuff, or a new product to buy it bung it in the cupboard, then forget about it.Goodness knows how much stuff is in there.
It is really a work in progress all the time at the moment, but a lot of odd ornaments/vases have been re-homed at the CS for someone else to buy.
onwards and upwards chums time to get over to the CS with more stuff

Friday is overcast & the air feels damp. I managed to get a couple of hours sleep 🙂 but woke up coughing & sneezing & still bunged up 😔 I have got up & I have a cup of tea + plenty of tissues & am sitting up. Whilst I manage to stay awake, I will try to catch up with the cheerleading 😉
