Rain has really started coming down here. Winds is building up too. Mountains have already gotten 2 feet of snow - and the storm has just started.
Didn't start until about 3:00 today, so we went to the library and put in an hour of work before they threw us out of the downstairs because they were setting up for a piano recital. Picked up 14 books to read before coming home (13 I checked out, 1 from book sale) so I will have some reading if things go haywire here. We don't have anywhere to go until Friday. I had ordered 11 of them on frugal living from other branches of the library.
Feral Cat (named Mittens, and called Mitt) should be okay - have an insulated shelter with a knit blanket in it and an insulated blanket over the top on the front porch as well. I put food out front and back just in case - but Di says there were possums out there the other day. We have been told to learn to like the opossums as they eat ticks and other things and to appreciate them coming, but boy, are they noisy eaters.
Hope this storm isn't headed your way - they think it will go across the southern US instead. Already having flooding in towns about 30 miles from here and evacuations further north (areas that had forest fires last year). Not expecting any breaks in the rain for three days according to the weather service.

Glad you are prepared with a stash of books, I hope you have a food stash too incase you cant get out for a bit xTC77 ~ i love that desk its gorgeousMeant to say DH cleaned my car on Saturday and so that is a job off the list, plus I sorted through the cooking boxes and checked that off too. Need to get a couple of jobs done this afternoon as I dont have many toe nails to cut in clinic today
I think it must be 6 weeks since xmas, when I have a week off its always quiet 6 weeks after, but by 12 weeks its mostly sorted itself out!

MRS SD.. I was beginning to wonder if WeeNancy had slipped a few extra books in
.We reopen next Saturday, although the volunteers will be in this week to familiarise themselves with the new setup.
Sorry if I sent you down a rabbit hole...did you meet Alice?

Hi all, got to see both friends and 4 Christmas presents finally gone from the lr. We did have some incomings but it is all edible stuff that will be eaten
. We had a bit of lunch with one friend and got back home just in time for me to watch the footy on tv. Unfortunately we were absolutely rubbish in this game but such is life sometimes
. After tea I did some knitting and uu a pen making notes
Today we are back to the opticians to sort out frames and book an eye test. OH has decided to book one as well and I need to try to book an appointment with the chiropodist. I think we will probably do a biggish sm shop as there are gaps on the shelves and OH is starting to ask for things we don't have
I see more cold weather is coming this week, possible snow here apparently so spring will be put back in it's box. I don't like February as I have always had enough of winter by now
@Mrs SD I am surprised to hear this year the train is slower than last year, it still seams to be running at top speed
Ok so I am off to get another cuppa and get weaving, hugs to anybody who would like one
201 - 204 presents delivered
205 pen uu
Take care everyone

@Mrs SD I am surprised to hear this year the train is slower than last year, it still seams to be running at top speedI keep missing replying to posts as clearly it's moving slightly too fast for me (although I quite like a bit of pace). I do remember feeling there wasn't any point in even trying to respond last year as it was at breakneck speed! Clearly the train has been made a bit more comfortable this year so people are more relaxed and some new speed limits have been enforced for safety@TC77 I love that desk... in fact I have one that's almost identical to that myself! I would take a photo, but it has a bunch of stuff to sort out on it at the moment...Mrs_Salad_Dodger said:QueenJess, so pleased to hear that DS’s birthday party went well 😊 How did the treasure hunt go? 2 hours sounds about right for a party 🎉🥳 More excellent decluttering - it really does sound like you are about 95% done 👏 Good luck with your decluttering hotspots 🍀
Clearly my new method of decluttering and tidying (despite still being around 200 items behind) is working.
Oops - sorry I missed these:Mrs_Salad_Dodger said:Lovely post QueenJess 😊 I think that “An Ambassador for Nice Food” is a great title 👏 Any room in your house for a permanent visitor 😂 Of course I would help with the decluttering & tidying + any other tasks you might have 😅 The clotted cream ice cream sounds lush so I am hoping that you will donate some to the TLC Carriage 🙏 Good luck at the Specsavers 🍀

What a lovely car MrsSD! I would like to request a secondment to stay with QueenJess as a taster! (I'll bring Ziggy too 🤭)Cats also welcome as I love them, but concede I have no time to look after one and so just stroke any friendly ones I see instead.
Already exceeded my target of 10 physical items to declutter today, so will concentrate on trying to get to the last 2% of sticky tidying. I think much of it requires decisions or longer frogs, so may take a while to completely clear everything.3 - fuses (binned)
2 - DD clothes (charity box)
11 - DS paperwork recycled
1 - old hairbrush binned
33 - pointlessly small ribbons/ties for gifts I couldn’t bear to throw away previously as it was a waste/“might” come in useful (spoiler - it doesn't and I have perfectly good twine and paper raffia that can be used anyway)New total = 2,6262025 decluttering: 4,026 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟2025 use up challenge: 345🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge +3/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 115/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 50018 -
Not a lot to report from me for the weekend. I have created rather a lot of prunings for disposal. All thorny stuff so I won’t be composting them. Found a pile of paperwork that had been shoved under a chair, filed and recycled accordingly. There was something that I had been looking for in there so it was a useful find. Another little sort through the craft cupboard yielded some more things for the CS.@TC77 - that’s a lovely desk! I think vintage items like opera glasses and grape scissors are worth finding a place for if you enjoy them.@QueenJess glad to hear that the party went well.@bit_by_bit - that sounds like a terrible situation for your relatives to have been in. I hope that a safe home can be found for them.@~FlowerPot~ amazing clearing done by you and your son.@Liverpool_Anne same problem for me with specs. I always ask them to try reusing my frames although it depends on how worn out they are. If I have to get new reading glasses I go for children’s as nobody sees me in them and nicer frames for the varifocals. KM for the sunglasses! Roxy are also fairly small.17

Mrs SD - I wait with baited breath for your first outing in the shiny red car!16

TC77, that is a lovely desk. perfect for displaying your opera glasses and grape scissors. Some silver photo frames and you are done!
I found a top in the wardrobe that I bought at the chazzer, new with tags. Tried on,too big,so it will leave today with the 6 mugs. Have decided to add 2 cups and saucers to the bag. They match my dinner service but never get used.
Also out a pack of new craft pens which write on glass. I gave DD1 the tote bag made with stuff from Mother's . I counted the constituent parts in so I will count it out.
As we speak Mr V is rooting in the insulated storage shed. 6 electrical leads and a mouse to go PLUS a massive mixing desk listed for sale in his old farts DJ group. ( men of a certain age who acquire electrical gubbins that they will never use) Shock horror, he turned a gig down last night. He has said he will sell off most of his equipment and buy a new smaller all singing ,all dancing piece of kit to use as he is still doing compere work and the like.Think 1K plus. He also wants to buy a boot liner for the new car. That in itself costs as much as some cars! I am impressed. In the past he would just buy whatever he wants without a second thought. This new thinking is due to successful seed planting.I played the long game,it's only taken 15 years.
Soup du jour is spicy carrot, then off to Mother's house to raid her garden.
