Just did another little rearrange with ds1 tonight, another 115 things leaving the house
A mix of nailpolishes, some books. Random bits. I'm kicking myself now, wish we had counted the things we threw into the black bag the other night. Oh well! 🙈😊
777 so far!!!

@Floss, a very good idea of writing down what I need, however, the definition of need can be stretched. I came home with the desk - can in 3 parts and managed to get my friend J to help me unload before we went for a walk. Also came home with some grape scissors (apparently if you cut the grapes off the bunch they last longer than pulling them off - although probably never leave them that long to find out ) and some 1950s theatre/opera glasses.
Do I or any household need these items in 2024? but of course I am sure they will both come in useful!
Going to put things in my desk and may post a photo, very vintage feel I think22 -
Thank you for my medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger 💐 Mabel is a very happy, gentle little cat 😻
I'm going to continue maintenance decluttering as I go, I think. There will definitely be more once I'm swapping my summer clothes in 🤣
One of my 'outs' was listed on Olio and collected within the hour, today, which was a result 🙂Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
Decluttering - January 2024 - 89 physical objects, over 700 emails/digital decluttering 🎊 🏅🏅18 -
My pottering day has done me good - I'm feeling much more rested and less moany
I really only managed some putting things away, washing up etc but the house feels more in order which makes me feel back in control.
I'm not doing too well with my IN/OUT ratio - there's been quite a lot IN recently - particularly books.
Tasks:
0In (running total 27)
28 & 9 - 2 x books for my course arrived - that's it for now.
Out (running total 43)
44. Top
45. Folder
46. Wool
@MrsSaladDodger Ha! I didn't realise the EDT had a special netted carriage ! I will relax about falling off! But you're right some time in the TLC carriage will not go amiss. Thanks for my medal and for your encouragement.

Loving the catfest.
I hope you are safe and dry @weenancyinAmerica.
Thankyou @Mrs_Salad_Dodger I am looking forward to an improvement in my health. It does seem like two steps forward and 1 back right now. I know I feel better after a few minutes of outside time,
So a slightly crazy frog laden weekend with BiL and SiL having to come away from their home for a while due to being basically hosting a cuckoo. This is not the first time but with a different person. Anyway. SServices and their housing association are on the job to find a new home as they are vulnerable adults plus the police came and kicked the parasite out and changed the locks. That was Friday. I managed to find them temporary accomodation for a few weeks and bought them down to Derby today but think a proper place will not be found for them in this short time.
As we left one of the previous problem characters came and had a chat with them all friendly trying to find out some details
In the meantime DH has developed a horrible ear infecton and MiL fell hurting her wrist this morning. She is ok but is not overall. She seems very tired a lot these days. She is going on a cruise in a few weks to Norway but I feel that she is stressed with all the organising. I will pop around in the morning to speak to her on her own, get a checklist together as she never does, work out any niggles.
Soo it sounds heavy going and I am not functioning in my usual way but did manage to get another bag to the CS on Saturday, an in and out bag to DS2 (thanks @vulpix for the bedding) and a big bag of cardboard boxes to said BiL and SiL for packing when they move taken up to Manchester today. Got to count the victories.

Thank you for my medal MrsSD, you have made my day 😁. I am happy for you to be the first taster, you have earnt it with all your cheerleading ❤️.
Today was a little quieter, a visit to b@q for a new switch thingy for tumble dryer but while we were there I picked up some bulbs and a japonica plant for front garden and also a pig statue at 2nd dds tearful request. I am not a garden ornament kind of gal but it was very sweet and I am a softy and 2nd dd is obsessed with pigs (since tiny) and she desperately wants a pet one so I said yes to the statue which hasn't made it to the garden yet, it is currently living in her bedroom 😍.
I attempted some gardening in our front border but have put it aside for today as the dcs were not in a cooperative mood 🙄. I have tackled another 🐸 today which was; make a cloak with eldest dd for her Anglo-Saxon day in a couple of weeks. I have also booked a farm visit with the dcs over half term and also ....super excited.... our summer holiday 🥳.Tonight it is 'me time' and an early night ready for the week ahead.
Don't worry MrsSD plenty of clothes for dds to wear 😉. 🤞 for the dwp. When I contacted them in November in reference to a letter I had sent them they told me they were working on August due to a backlog of work. I really want an end to this soon. Still onwards and upwards 🤭

Haven't been on her for 3 days and in that time have done very little. Just the basic stuff plus some crafting and reading. Nothing worth listing. Another week starts tomorrow so I'll do something!.
Some people are having a hard time at the moment. Hope things are better for you soon.
Have read all the posts properly but did see some pictures of cats. Mine never seems awake enough to take a decent picture. Like the dogs as well.
Take care every one.

@bit_by_bit , Do take time out in the tlc carriage.
Posting a pic of my desk before use but it has drawers so hopefully will have space for my laptop and I can move off the dining room table. The keys fit a random selection of the drawers and my dad put luggage labels on them with a drawing of the desk with an x on the drawer each works for. There are 2 more keys. We will see what it looks like at the end of the weeki need to redo the tip as some sticky back plastic that doesnt quitr fit. Hopefully will do at some point.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
All prep done & cooking started. We are having roasted pork shoulder steaks, roast potatoes & parsnips with boiled carrots & cabbage. Dinner was delicious with no leftovers apart from cabbage which will be bagged & frozen. Unusually I have done the wudupa before sitting down to watch TV 😉 Just DH’s plate & cutlery to do when he comes down + one baking tray which is soaking in soapy water.
204 - 206 Kitchen recycling, empty plastic salt pot, drinks cans - recycled
207 Kitchen detritus binned
vulpix, the EDT is still motoring along, although it might surprise you to learn that it is slightly slower than at the start of last year 😂 Welcome back from the Shetland Isles 👋 Sounds like you had an absolutely wonderful time 😊 & well done on being so restrained with your spending 👏 I am really looking forward to seeing your garden revamp 🙏 I see you are straight back into decluttering mode - opening drawers & hunting out items as well as getting your laundry done 👏 Good luck with the hunt for a wall picture & also the naturalising of the snowdrops 🍀
That is an impressive amount of decluttering Florafauna 👏 A medal 🏅 is now on its way 😊
Wednesday2000, sorry to hear that although the party was nice you weren’t able to enjoy it as much as you wanted to & that your overnight stay in the hotel was not particularly comfortable 😔 Hopefully that is your last party for a while 😉 Excellent work on the kitchen shelf 👏 You might not have taken a before photo but you should take an after photo - just to remind yourself of how good you are at decluttering 😊
Mamaofmanybudgets, no need to apologise for not being able to continue decluttering at 300 mph 😉 Honestly, I would take a guess at how much was in the 2 bags 🙂 Good luck with the bookshelf & the craft trolley 🍀
QueenJess, so pleased to hear that DS’s birthday party went well 😊 How did the treasure hunt go? 2 hours sounds about right for a party 🎉🥳 More excellent decluttering - it really does sound like you are about 95% done 👏 Good luck with your decluttering hotspots 🍀
London_1, what a lovely compliment from DGS Jack’s gf to your DD 🥹 & how lovely that you will see a lot more of him when he comes home for half term 😊
~FlowerPot~, sounds like a lovely day spent with your mum & DS2 😊 Thanks for the photos - shows just how hard you & DD2 worked yesterday 🤩
Mamaofmanybudgets, well I see you are back to decluttering at 300 mph 👏 At the rate you are going you might need to set a new target 😉
TC77, now now 😉 You have been doing so well in suppressing your wombling tendencies 😊 The 1950’s opera/theatre glasses will come in useful for close up watching of the birds in your garden 🤞& the desk is a lovely looking piece of furniture 😌
TheDoolallyDilly, you are welcome & thank you for my 💐 Wishing you continued success with your Maintenance Decluttering 😊
EnergyShifter, very pleased to hear that your ‘pottering day’ has helped you recover your equilibrium 😊 I can’t remember who suggested the netted carriage at the back of the EDT but it is working well 😊 Hope you enjoy your course 🤞Look forward to seeing you in the TLC Carriage when I pop in to sample some/all of the cakes/scones/biscuits 😅
bit_by_bit, fingers crossed that the weather is dry enough for you to spend time outside 🤞Sorry to hear that ‘parasites & cuckoos’ keep finding your BiL & SiL 😔 Those sorts of people seem to have some sort of radar 😠 Coping with all that & DH’s ear infection & MiL’s fall - I am rather amazed that you are still finding time to declutter 🤩
Dfw38, I will pop round tomorrow 😉 I have a feeling that the pig statue might never make it out of 2nd DD’s bedroom 😁 & at least it won’t make any mess 😅 Shame about the lack of cooperation from the dcs but I am sure the front border can wait a little while - maybe until half term, with the farm visit acting as a reward for their help with the gardening 😉 Your mention of booking your summer holiday, reminds me that DH & I will be having a 10 day motorcycling holiday in Germany with half a dozen other motorcyclists 😊 The only thing thing we have to do is book our our passage as the organiser is booking all the hotels 👏 We will be about 200 miles away from my DB’s house so will probably take the opportunity to visit him for a couple of days 😊 Hope you enjoyed your “me time” & that it didn’t just involve going to bed early 🤞
ilovetea, remember that doing the basic stuff like emptying bins, doing the washing up, putting things away properly all helps to stop more clutter coming in 👏 We don’t mind pictures of sleeping cats 😉
All caught up & just watching episode 2 of Doctor Who before going to bed. Sending both cwtches 🤗 & Mr Sandman 😊
