2024 DECLUTTERING CAMPAIGN MrsSD

Morning!
What a lovely car MrsSD! I would like to request a secondment to stay with QueenJess as a taster! (I'll bring Ziggy too 🤭) I didn't think I had achieved much yesterday but got quite a bit done:
Girls clothes decluttered, washing put away (took ages, considered just dressing the dc in pillowcases instead), tracked down all dc dress up clothes and they have been washed, found a tuff tub to put them in and when they are dry they will finally be together! Put 3 small c-mas trees back in loft together with a huge lidded box (empty) so no one fills it up purely to give me a job of emptying and rehousing stuff. Managed to get all 3 dcs to library for lego builders club in the afternoon, not been for months (it is once a month) as eldest dd doesn't like leaving the house. We managed 30 minutes which I will take as a victory. Organised the small amount of sewing paraphernalia I have and have neat piles of projects (only have 4 small ones) with all the stuff needed to be started and finished today. Made a pie with 2nd dd and we had that for tea. And I finished printing and filing all the correspondence relating to dad's probate and house sale, one 🐸 done. There were tears of relief, just waiting on dwp (should be this month 🤞) to confirm whether we owe them any money and then I can allocate the money and I am done.2024 decluttering Campaign

Oh my Goodness - nearly 30 pages of posts since I last posted. I've tried to catch up a bit but I'm worried that the train will take off again without me if I carry on. So ....
It's been a busy week. Last Sunday I went to Ikea to buy a new light fitting for the kitchen - picked up some other stuff while I was there.
Monday most of the work on the roof was finished - they did a good job. The ceiling was made good later in the week. I'm going to have to get it skimmed and painted but can't face thinking about that right now.
Tuesday I facilitated the afternoon of a Team Building Day for a lovely Charity. That was fun and went well but travel there and back took ages because of the train strike. I could barely speak in the evening I was so tired. I was delighted to be working from home on Weds and Thurs.
I went to my opticians appointment on Friday but didn't have the full eye test as it was less than a year and they would have charged me £59 ! I was a bit confused as I would have thought it would be considered a potential emergency given that my sight has become extremely foggy within a couple of weeks. Optician agreed to scan my eye and apparently there are no retinal tears so I felt a little more relieved but I'm pretty disappointed as they do the aftercare following cataract surgery so I would have thought they'd be a bit more attentive. but I experienced some really weird visual disturbances in that eye yesterday so I think I will go to a different optician next week.
Went to Rochester yesterday and had an enjoyable potter around the charity shops picked up a lovely cardi and some books that will help me with my course.
I realise as I'm writing this that I am still very wiped out and every time I think about something I have to do it feels overwhelming. I'm not working next week but I am on a 3 day course from Weds-Fri. I think I'll put off thinking about anything to do with the house until the following week and just focus on some rest and getting my eyes checked out.

I’ve just ordered a *cheap* cordless vacuum. Arrives on Tues. My current one is so old and now just doesn’t do the job, the filters are stuck in there and won’t come out. I need to do a lot of edge of carpet work in the bedroom. The new one looks good for this and it easily changes to a little vacuum which is very much needed for the car too. It feels quite contagious to declutter at the moment. And then the bits that are clearer/cleaner show up the other bits that need work. The new hoover should give me a bit of a boost to keep clearing! Lots of dust bunnies to get too!Emergency Fund: 1000/2000April Grocery Challenge: 150/550

Mabel looks super content, and the spaniels make me want a dog so will definitely pop in the tlc carriage.
Lots going on with everyone.
Love the car Mrs SD, and thankfully red car paint has improved over the decades so will stay that gorgeous colour and shiny. My first car was bought off someone on the Kings Road, and the bonnet went pink in the sun and stayed abit les pink and more red in other places and not shiny. Look forward to hearing about your adventures. In London the motorbike might be faster though.
Down at my dad's with the intention of organising for the van hire next weekend. Decided to put off van trip for a few weeks but taking the desk back today as comes into 3 parts - although now on my own have no-one to help take out at the other end. May ask a friend to help tomorrow but good friends don't live that local. Trying to get rid of the scarcity mentality, and my DB who has been doing all the probate etc, hadn't said he wanted lots of things where I'd said I wanted dining table and chairs so now as he says things he wants, I feel I can't say maybe I want it, and of course when someone else wants something it makes it more appealing! (must not respond to that). A few of dads jumpers left, and i was going to take one, but then said no - just the sort I want but really too big for me, count that as a win for me.
brought my microwave down to take to the tip here as more helpful but realise I hadn't clicked the confirm button! wil leave here for next tip run. When I have the desk I can sort out all stationery related stuff a home and my 'office'.
Can't recall who mentioned the balance between trying to sell things and the time and effort to do it. Always difficult, and I find difficult to know what is worth selling. If there are things I know people will pay more for in a CS than I would get then go to CS and tend to try and sell those things that are vintage and CS won't take, but finding things I thought people may want they don't even on free sites!
@Liverpool_Anne agree about more scones needed!

@Dfw38 that's a great bag of clothes to pass on, and congrats on sorting out your father's affairs!
On the pension front, and early retirement although it may not be relevant to people, but came up for my DB - both he and I have a DCs who have decided to go to uni a few years later (and I had DD2 late) than usual and he struggled to be a guarantor for his DS. I'm now factoring that in to my plans.

@TC77 would it help to write a list - while at your home - of what furniture / things your home needs, and take that with you to your dad's & share with your brother? Then you might be able to take the needs rather than "if nobody wants it' things, and he can see what you actually need (and might reverse his decision on things).2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Have had some success selling on vinted but have also been spending on vinted 😂 lets see how that goes! moving forwards I will try to only spend my balance from selling, rather than add to it. I decluttered the fridge and did a batch cook. Not much else to report. I see others are really making progress, well done 👏13

Feeling more human and less tearful today although I could have throttled the dogs 🤨 all of their toys in the kitchen and they decide to unstuff one of their beds.
Big words were said. They are now trying to be ultra cute but failing miserably!!!!
