Dfw38 said:🤞 for the dwp. When I contacted them in November in reference to a letter I had sent them they told me they were working on August due to a backlog of work. I really want an end to this soon. Still onwards and upwards 🤭
For a variety of reasons, my mum's estate was dealt with by solicitors in early 2020. Most of it was resolved fairly quickly: confirmation from the DWP about the return of overpaid pension was the only thing holding up the finalising and distribution. So it was agreed that some money would be kept by the solicitors while they waited for confirmation of how much would need to be returned - they could work out an approximate figure till the DWP got back in touch. It meant that bills could be settled, bequests and donations sent and it was a weight off the mind. I don't know if this would help in your situation??‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Wow, everyone has been doing such a sterling job. Well done everyone.
And hugs to all those who need them. I think we will need to run exercise sessions for after stays in the TLC carriage with all those lovely goodies to eat. 🤣
I finally have some news. My solicitor phoned me this afternoon - we're aiming for completion on the 9th!!!
I can't really believe it yet as it's been so long since I started the buying process. But it looks like I could be getting cat cuddles by the weekend - that's if they remember me and or forgive me. 😹😹
The removal people have been emailed to see when they can deliver my 300+ !! boxes and then the grand declutter can begin. I'll need to sort and shift a lot of stuff because I need building work done and a complete rewire of the house. It then need renovating from top to bottom. So no pressure then. 🤣🤣
If I can't get the Internet connected I may go AWOL as I don't have a lot of data on my phone and what I have I will probably need to contact the council/tax office/DVLA etc., etc., etc..

This thread has run away a bit! I thought I would next be decluttering my office, but an emergency declutter was just required of the dreaded underneath of the kitchen sink following an accumulation of water. A combination of a tap leak and disintegration of sealant had caused a minor deluge. So many near dead bottles of random stuff! And quite the collection of bin bags, too...
That's the problem with our recycling collection. It's a max of 2 boxes, 1 food caddy and 2 bin bags. But we're great at recycling and don't have a lot of rubbish for the bin bags, so we tend to use just one. For years now, we've just been shoving the stash under the cupboard and consequently have 3 shades of bin bag, reflecting the changes in council contracts over the years. A few years ago, I did upcycle some into a fancy dress costume (not pleasant to wear - smelled a bit plasticky) but we have a whole bin bag of bin bags. It's too many!
I'm going to work out how many will be about a year's worth, because we're bound to get another supply before a year is out anyway, and the rest will have to be---recycled.
The kitchen sink should be a fairly easy fix, and will be repaired this week. Not replaced just yet. We've got a new kitchen to install at some point, but it's not the biggest priority in this moneypit. Electrics first, hopefully happening soon as we finally have had a bite from an electrician to come and do the work!
Anyway, counting that as just 5 things thrown out for now... I'm not counting the bin bag mountain yet.Keep reading books!

@wishus I had a similar thing where our council issued everyone with specific colour bin bags for a whole year and you could only use those. It worked out at 2 a week, but we can’t fill more than half a bin bag every week. To be honest I throw little away and don’t usually have more than one bag of recycling - it’s all the cooking from scratch I think that does it!
I ended up with rolls and rolls of the stuff and every week I knew I was collating more. I asked the council if I could return them as you get charged for each extra bin bag you want to purchase if you use more. I thought they could use that as always much needed council funds. But no, they really didn’t want me to do that and told me to offer them to neighbours. So I gave some to people in my street and put the rest on Buy Nothing. They were all gone in a flash!2025 decluttering: 3,491🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅

Hi Wednesday, it sounds like you could be noticing crocus flowers.
dND, how very exciting. You have been so patient.
Love the cats, my local cat sanctuary is offering a tortie kitten, I would if I could ,but I can't. Our Fluffy cat is very territorial.
wishus, why not offer the bin bag mountain on a freebie site? If my Mother didn't have the motherlode of bin bags I would heaven forbid have to buy some for house clearing. You never know, someone might need them.
