@flamingo747 I don’t know why she has to keep it this long. It’s even worst for last year’s coursework: she and 2 other pupils were selected to keep the coursework for 10 years. It’s all very official, with names written down and a form signed. I’m an immigrant here, and I’m afraid I’ve already broken the 3-year rule 7 years running by just chucking out old coursework at the end of the summer hols (I keep it during the hols for when a daughter complains she’s booooored, and the I tell her to make the exercises she hasn’t done yet. Works a treat
).

Feeling exhausted but wanted to post as tomorrow is a new decluttering month. Although not easy and nothing major has been tackled yet I am definitely having a change of mind set. Some of the birthday cards were really old but I found it easy and a relief to get rid of them.
Hopefully in February I can declutter some larger items out of the house.

1. Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks + a weekly Jettison Junk in January
2. Sort out sleep patterns - target bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 9:00 a.m
3. Deal with mail & email on a daily basis
4. Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
5. Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
6. Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
DH cleared a space in the garage for the repair chap to work & whilst he was doing that I used my ‘magic machine’ to clear the moss & weeds from the front path 🙂 Will need to do a 2nd pass in the next few days but 30 minutes was about my limit as my hands were starting to get cold & the wind was picking up. Good news - the garage door has a new spring & has been serviced & oiled 🥳 George arrived at 12:40 & was gone by 13:05. DH has raked up the leaves out front & pulled up the tallest weeds 👏 The garden bag of grass clippings from the last mow in late October has been topped up with leaves & the 2nd bag has been filled with leaves & both have been used to top up the raised beds 🙂 We had some surprise visitors in the back garden - a pair of long tailed tits 😊 & this year so far we have a couple of blackbirds, plenty of sparrows, a few great tits, a couple of robins & the ubiquitous pigeons. Tackled one of my froglets this afternoon - wrote & addressed March & April birthday cards 🙂 Dinner was sausages, mash, baked beans & plum tomatoes. Wudupa.Rained late evening & the wind picked up 😔
187 - 190 Kitchen recycling, drinks cans, magazine, cardboard packaging - recycled
191 - 192 Kitchen detritus, plastic packaging - binned
Thanks charlies_tribe 🙂 & a belated Happy Birthday for yesterday 🎂 💐Excellent decluttering, already into March’s numbers 👏
Great decluttering Siebrie 👏 Thanks for the reminder that ‘those 5 or 10 minutes add up' 😊
Brie, that is appalling non-work by the clearance people 😠 I hope you bagged up the offending nails etc & photographed them 😉 A good result re the fridge/freezer 👏
Excellent decluttering foxandflowers 👏 Well done on tackling such a large frog - it is definitely paying dividends judging by the amount of money you have raised 😊 A medal 🏅 is on its way
Deni_debt-free_dreamer, don’t forget to have a bit of ‘me time’ in between decluttering sessions over the weekend 😊 Keep up the good work deleting emails - before you know it you will have reduced to under 10k 🤞
florianatwobob, love it 😻 Your granny was quite the lady - a Victorian Viking tattooed biker chick 😊 I would have loved to meet her 😊 Granddad must also have been quite the man as well to win her heart 😉
flamingo747, sorry to hear about continuing issues with your car 😔 Though great news that you have already reaped the rewards of so much decluttering 🥳
Some excellent decluttering Liverpool_Anne 👏 Good news that the dentist didn’t charge 😊 Keeping everything crossed that the dental practice remains NHS 🤞Hopefully OH will let most of the contents in his house go to new homes rather than cluttering up your home 🙏
Excellent decluttering & tidying Wednesday2000👏 I suppose the advantage of a capsule wardrobe is that decisions of what to wear can be reached quickly 😉
Dfw38, sorry to hear that DD is still struggling 😔 but pleased to hear that you now have access to several groups so that a system can be put in place to help her 😊 The ‘love-squares’ are beautiful 😻
QueenJess, no need to hang your head in shame - the food will get eaten, the cleaning supplies & toiletries will get used up & the bits bought in IKEA will also be used 😊 Excellent decluttering of house stuff & work stuff 👏
Excellent decluttering short_bird 👏 & well done on hitting your target for No Spend Days in January 🥳
GrannyKate, excellent work on culling the Family History files 👏 A 20% reduction in ‘names’ is amazing 🤩 & you found time to clean the fridge 😊
bamboo_socks, thanks for the digital photo decluttering tip 👏
~FlowerPot~ so very sorry to hear this 😔 Rant away & no need to apologise. Is there an ombudsman you can appeal to 🤞
Excellent decluttering TheEmerald 👏 You are definitely strengthening your decluttering muscles ready to tackle bigger decluttering projects 😊
TC77 fingers crossed that you don’t have to work too many more long days 🤞 Some great decluttering 👏& remember all the little spaces will gradually meet up to create big spaces 😊
Sleep tight 😴

Don't know if your libraries or other programs do this, but our library takes craft supplies and McD toys to use as prizes and giveaways at special events. Our community center takes them also, especially for children whose parents can't afford the crafts for school.19

Sorry Charlie's_tribe I meant to wish you happy birthday.
I always wanted to be a forensic scientist 🤓. I love all that stuff but have never got round to it. There is some truly excellent decluttering going on, well done and 💐 to all for getting through January.
Thanks MrsSD, the love squares are simple but they do sometimes work with the separation anxiety.
Last night I sat in front of the sewing machine again and made a cushion cover for ds with some material that has old style planes on it. He hasn't seen it yet but will when he wakes up this morning!
I was up a 2.50 this morning as eldest dd couldn't sleep so wanted me to sleep in her bed which meant I haven't really slept since. Doesn't help that my mind is racing at that time of night/day. I am normally up about 4.30 most mornings because 2nd dd can't sleep and needs a hug.
I am going to have a huge bowl of porridge to set me up for the day, got playgroup this morning and a few bits and pieces to pick up afterwards. I am going to plan a month of early nights and hopefully will feel a lot less tired going into March. I am currently going to bed at midnight to try and fit everything in but 4 hours sleep is destroying me so that "habit" has to change.
Hope you all have a lovely day!2024 decluttering Campaign
