"1. Am I to understand that the additional £200 represents a 'Debt Recovery' fee, ....."

    Are DR fees 2 x £70  =  £140?
I have received two unpaid 'tickets' for a total of £340. do i ask for the whole sum of £340? I have no idea how much they tried to scam me out of when all this began as I did not receive any of the original PCN's
No you ask about the DRA fee add-on. £140.

Not sure why you are concerned about being flippant with the likes of Gladstones but it's up to you. The industry hasn't earned any respect.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The NEWBIES FAQ Announcement, second post, tells you exactly how to respond to a Letter of Claim. Please follow guidance there.
There isn't anything mentioned about the 30 day period in the newbies section.
    Yes there is.

This sentence appears within the first six lines of the second post of the NEWBIES thread...
A 'real' LBC gives a 30 day deadline and reply forms.

Apologies Keith, What I meant was I could not see anywhere a suggestion as to when to send the correspondence to DCB legal.

I have sent the reply this morning. So I assume I am now waiting for them to let me know they are taking legal action against me.

  • Just had the second letter before claim through re my regular daily for the tune of 5k... I guess this is the beginning of the process now. I do hope the matter is heard locally. I really do not want to be looking at travelling to the central business courts.

Unless it's a business-to-business claim, the hearing will almost certainly be held at the Defendant's local court. Northampton CNBC is purely an administrative centre handling the early paperwork stages of a claim. No hearings are ever conducted there.

For a £5k risk I'd say you should ask Contestor Legal to at least attend the hearing for you.  DCB are unlikely to discontinue a £5k claim.

I'm really looking forward to when google is rolled out for everyone.   :)

(but you do need to spell stuff correctly to get good returns)
  • Is it normal for DCB to call me? I have just had a phone call stating that it is in relation to the letter before claim. I stated I had not requested a call back. I assume they are just checking the details I have provided are correct?

That can often be the start of the discontinuation process (read the Discontinuation thread), but with £5k at play, it's not a given. However, there's not much other reason why DCB Legal might be calling.
