I have to say, I don't know if DH is allergic to kiwifruit - they do make me feel nauseous. Dragonfruit - funnily enough I saw some in M&$ a couple of weeks ago. I don't think we've ever eaten one - or did we get one from the food waste one time? I know I know what the inside of one looks like, so perhaps we did. At the mo, DH is finishing off the fibre rich tea, we shall all have natural yoghurt for pud, and DH will probably have another sachet, and/or more water. Fingers crossed we can navigate taking the necessary pain-relief without causing other issues.

Hoping that DH gets some good rest tonight and continues to improve tomorrow but that he doesn't even think about going to work on Monday.3

He may not even be able to if he’s taking opiate based pain relief? I believe a lot say you shouldn’t drive while taking them too.Delighted to hear that he’s on the mend anyway - if he’s been a bit cavalier about taking the anti-b’s then could that have been a factor in things getting so bad before he finally got the hospital appointment? Anti-bs are incredible, but do rely on being taken as regular doses as prescribed, and the course being finished, as well. I personally think that as well as the warning about that on the leaflet, the prescribing pharmacist should also be required to mention it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Good Morning MFW'rs
EH - DH took the Anti-b's (tablets) as prescribed from the very first 111 appt. Where the 'words' came about was that DH did have a slight worry about taking meds too close together, but in the end he did take the relevant medications, in the relevant window. He's up to date with everything, and is noting down what he is taking and when - to avoid confusion. The medics seem to be in agreement that the meds have been prescribed in the wrong order/not in tandem. Oral anti-b's couldn't touch the initial infection - according to 3 Drs - he should have had the eardrops (at least) straight away - the first 111 Dr prescribed oral meds only. DH is most definitely a rule-follower- cavalier - about anything, he ain't.
After a good afternoon, DH had a poor night, and the ear pain has ramped up again. We'll see how today goes. Blackcats - yes, this pain medication can't be treated with anything other than respect, and at the moment DH isn't doing anything in the driving/operating machinery vein, as much as because he's just not feeling able to concentrate.
Not too sure what the day will bring. Rain is still forecast, and given everything I've to wash is heavier-weight fabrics, there is no point in even starting. I won't get it dry. However, given this week's forecast, I may yet end up in the launderette.
Lunch will doubtless be soup based. Sorry to sound like a stuck record, but it counts as money-saving, as it can be made from economical ingredients, and should all be eaten up.
Right, i'm in danger of not mentioning anything else money saving, so I'll shuffle orf.

I often find with infections, the issue lulls, ramps up and then drops away again. Really hoping this will be the case for Mr GP. 🤞🤞🤞 He must be feeling like a damp dishrag after all the pain and lack of sleep he’s been through recently …
Good luck with the washing. Zero chance of anything drying here as it’s already mizzling … 🤷♀️
Soup will be warming and comforting (and hopefully easy for the patient to eat) on a grey day 😊

Yes, KajaKita - the ebb and flow of infections/pain/illnesses is our experience too. A (retired) medic chum had said it should be 48hrs to start to feel better, so yesterday's improvement was ahead of schedule, so fingers crossed we have a steady line progression to feeling better. At least things are changing - DH's ear (without going into detail), definitely seems 'drier' than it was, although not yet totally dry. And last night DH's gland on that side was back up again - smaller but harder - whereas this morning there isn't the same swelling. So fingers crossed it's all part of the 'working through'.
I've pegged out some of yesterday's wash that just hasn't dried on the airer overnight. The beebeecee says we should have rain by now, but the browser forecast says it's coming in around midday, so I've taken a punt, and put out the dampest stuff. Annoyingly, it's just parts of things that are still damp - not anything sopping wet. There is quite a good breeze though, so I am trying to see if I can get anything 'drier' than it was. Usually, (it's not 100% accurate), the browser forecast is more accurate for us, so I'm going with it. Everyone in the house is on 'rain drop' watch tho. 🤣

Fingers crossed for the pain trajectory to continue downwards for DH. I know having a member of the household poorly has a knock-on effect for the others too in terms of activities and general concern. I have HM soup for much of the year at lunchtime but happy to be a 'stuck record' as its cheapish and cheerful.
Been raining here for a few hours off and on already and the wind has ramped up a bit.6 -
Being a stuck record about soup and washing is useful - you frequently remind me that soup is an option for lunch (I tend to forget!) and to do stuff on the washing front (whether getting it in/putting it out or putting it on) - and I know I’m not the only one! So definitely don’t stop! 😊
I hope today DH really does start to see an improvement - he’s really suffered with this. 😔Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks everyone for your support.
DH hasn't gone to work, you'll be glad to hear. He's improved (thankfully - I didn't think we were going to get past the apparent 'relapse'). The pain has - apparently - lessened, but then DH has like 'electric shock' pain - presumably that's the nerves either being infected, or still under pressure from pus/inflammation. He's starting to reduce the op-8's, which I'm pleased about. I know you can't just 'stop', but he's being diligent in their administration, he knows they are not to be messed around with. The anti-b's are still being taken and will be to the end of the course. We are still administering the drops, DH can't hear in that ear, and still has light-headed/dizzy episodes, so driving and anything remotely complicated is out of the equation.
I do, however, feel very conscious that I am taking up people's time here, when there are others, on these boards, and elsewhere who are really, really going through the mill. We're very lucky to have this place.
I did sweet potato soup for lunch yesterday. It was just made up on the hoof, but it was scrummy - and I don't mean that to be big-headed, but sometimes sweet potatoes can taste a bit funny, whereas this was lovely and sweet and flavourful. It was onion, garlic, ginger, sweet potato, carrots, stock and a tin of baked beans, cooked up and then blitzed smooth. I may have thrown in a tin of chopped toms too - can't remember, but yes, I think I did put one in. DH and I had it smooth, I defrosted a little bit of pasta for LG to have in theirs. Clean plates all round - LG had a splodge of seconds and there is a tiny portion left over.
Tea was brown basmati, carrot lentil dhal and an omlette. I wouldn't be lying if I said we're all getting a little tired of lentils and rice, but also we're a team and we're trying to work together for 'one of our own'. At the moment these things are easier for DH to eat, so we'll go with it.
No washing will be done today, as we're due rain - although at the moment it is dry, however, it's muggy and humid with no breeze, so nothing would dry anyway. I need to put away the last of the weekends wash, as that has now dried...... I miss the line dried smell ☹️
I must get my head into gear, as we've got so much on - even without an poorly DH - and I've taken my eye off the ball of holiday prep. I guess doubt began to creep in whether we would be going. But that's not the spirit, is it.
Right, small has been dropped off at school, best shift-a-tail-feather.
