Good Morning MFW'rs
Bad night's sleep. I don't know if DH woke me up, or whether I woke myself up and couldn't get back to sleep.
DH isn't much better - in the pain stakes. I'm thinking more and more our holiday isn't going to happen. I know we can drop the 'bookend' stops at the purpley hotel, but I can't even see us making the main accommodation at this rate. There is the issue of getting there and DH's demeanour whilst there. Still, I'm getting ahead of myself, the hozzie appt is today, so I'll wait to see what comes of that. I just hope, that if the infection is gone/reduced, that they don't just wipe their hands of DH and declare 'job done', as there is clearly something else going on.
I've some linens on to wash and to peg out. We'll have to get going this morning, as soon as LG is dropped off at school, as DH claims his appt is half an hour earlier than last week.
Lunch will probably be soup based again. At least we seem to be managing to keep ahead of the negative effects on digestion of pain killers/anti-b's, but can't take our eye off the ball, as that will only add another problem to the mix - something else you don't need when you're away from home/another reason to stay put.
Right, this post is turning very negative, and isn't much about money saving, so I shall shove orf.

After all your planning for this holiday, it will be such a pity if you have to cancel, but your DH's health has to be priority. At least you haven't mentioned the holiday to LG, so no disappointment there.
I'm keeping everything crossed that the hospital visit goes well.

Best wishes for hospital today. Such a pity if holiday has to be cancelled but, health has to come first and I just know you will make some fun for LG even if you cannot make the holiday.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Thank you, kind, kind people 🥰
So hospital visit yielded more gunk being extracted 🤢 The Dr was not phased by this, and said that the process was natural - it was going slow for DH, but that wasn't abnormal, the strength of the infection, and how "deep" in the ear it was was the key factor - they keep on using 'cave' as an analogy 🤷♀️. More ear drops have been prescribed - slightly different ingredients to the first, but I suspect still on the anti-b's/steroid line. Again, the pain is part of the process, and to be expected - although the Dr has asked DH to limit OP-8 use to bedtime to get sleep. They wanted to see DH next week, but DH mentioned the possibility of holiday (we're not flying anywhere), and they've asked to see him when he's back. They have also taken a swab sample this time.
We called in at the footwear chemist on the way home, and they had the relevant drops in stock, so that's procured at least. Now DH is trying to sort out a sicknote.
Interestingly, as far as I know, LG is still not aware we're going away. But this morning - and for context, DH was trying to get LG to do their homework, and LG was resisting - LG did turn around and say to DH that he was always grumpy and miserable. Which I actually thought was quite right...... I mean, LG was frustrated about the homework, and they are - and have been - an empathetic kiddo, and helpful to DH these last few days. But I do wonder if DH has - ever so slightly - let himself slide into a bit of a pity party for one. Not that I'm denying he's been in pain, and head/ear/sinus pain can be excruciating, but I just thought it was a little poke that DH needed, a child's perspective of "when's this going to end?". LG is actually upset and worried that daddy is ill, I suppose they need to know that daddy can and will get better though.
The hospital visit has proved that DH is still ill - and no wonder he can't hear if they're still getting all that gunk out, and no wonder it's still pressing on nerves etc and causing pain. So. That's where we're at. I'm not expecting a miracle fix, and DH still has a medications schedule to follow, but you're correct when you say that this "might" be the tipping point.
I will hold off cancelling anything, but I think I needed to have that discussion with DH, as otherwise I think he would just have got to the weekend and said "I'm not going" or not been in the correct headspace to think, "I'm on holiday, it's family time, let's do this".
We had curried pumpkin, carrot and lentil soup when we got home, with some YS'd bread rolls. The soup was a bit 'thin', but was edible. There is some left over, so I will either serve it up for lunch another day, or use it as the base for a curry.
I did pop to the shops today whilst DH was being seen and picked up some YS'd bread in MrT. Mostly I was just looking.
Personally, I have lost track of what day it is, and I think I need to catch up my Zzz's a bit.

Poor Mr GP, being in that pain must be horrendous. At least though the doctors can see there's still an issue and can try other things for it.
Perhaps one thing to ask him to consider re: the holiday is how much could he put up with? Does he think he could manage a day or two? Or would he really struggle with the whole week? And if the whole week isn't a possibility then, since LG doesn't know about the rest of the holiday and had really only asked for one night in a purple hotel, would he be okay with being home alone one night while you and LG have the first night's stay together and then come back home the next day?
It's really not nice being that ill though. I've only been in that much pain twice in my life and certainly the second time I idly wondered if I could remove the offending internal organ with a bread knife since that might hurt less
