Yes, idle ponderings on how to lessen pain take you to some useful (humorous) places, don't they VH. I see your point about the holiday - and fancy you remembering that LG had requested a night in a purpley hotel 🥰😁 But the hotel we've booked is too far for a one night stop in isolation - it's 'on the way' (and nearer) to the holiday accommodation. But I absolutely take the "general" point you are making. And yes, I should give some thought to - could the holiday look different, but still deliver 'holiday'.
Thank you - it's the poke to look at things differently I needed.

The gunk is definitely better out than in. It's tough for the whole household when there's a fairly lengthy illness and a child's perspective on poorliness timeframes are definitely more acute than an adult's. plus kiddos are usually tired and a tad less full of the joys of the world in the last few days before school hols. Mine certainly were! You are certainly doing your bit with nutritious soups and soft to eat foods so that will be contributing to building strength and recovery as well as being good for your own wellbeing too.
don't give up on the idea of some or all of your holiday. With luck it can be adjusted to give MrGP some recuperation time.5 -
I love the concept of it being the purpley hotel, especially since DS is obsessed with the colour purple and would probably be overwhelmed with delight if we did the same

A few years ago, we went to Scotland and stayed in a couple of purpley hotels, but the one in Glenrothes stood out, as it was on a big traffic island, and you could quite clearly see the sign, before the actual building. LG took to saying "I see the moon!" - and we eventually twigged what they meant. But had forgotten a few months later, when we passed a purpley hotel (I think in the next market town along), that we weren't staying in - and we were startled with a shout of "I see the moon", coming from the back seat of the car 🤣 Mind, it came in useful last year too, as we arrived in Marlborough on the weekend of the Mop Fair, and after ages spent in slow moving traffic, it was the back seat spotter shouting "I see the moon" that brought us all a huge sigh of relief, and to our bed for the night!VintageHistorian said:I love the concept of it being the purpley hotel, especially since DS is obsessed with the colour purple and would probably be overwhelmed with delight if we did the same

It sounds likethe doctors haven't warned DH against going away, which is a good thing. I know there's nowt like your own bed... but I wonder would he be able to rest in your accommodation while you and LG got out and about a bit more? Then maybe he'd feel a bit better by the end of the week and could do more.
Anyway, waiting and seeing seems like a sound plan for now x6 -
Imagine you being in Glenrothes of all places! I was born in Fife but not Glenrothes.Hope DH continues to improve. I second Cheery's idea. Can DH cope with the travel and then rest in your accommodation so you can give LG their holiday? He may also find he feels better doing something different (I'm recovering from Covid and had to get my act together before I felt 100% as my brother's kids were on half term this week, and staying with my mum, so have had to do things every day).
I also wondered whether extra pillows might help - sometimes sleeping 'higher' than normal can help with symptoms in your head.8 -
I forgot to add today's spends to my budget totals earlier. So I've done that now.
I've received emails that my MrS vouchers for insurance purchases have tracked, so I'll be looking to use those for grocery purchases in November.
Thank you for all your support. We'll just have to take one day at a time, and hope for the best. And we just want DH well.
Aye beanie - we bumped into a stripey MSE'r up to their oxters in the perennial border😉 and if iirc Fam. Greying dropped off a bag of groceries in the 'collecting box' of Kinross MrS, on that trip 😉 Saw the Selkies too 😁
Right, I'm away to my bed. I'm a bit worn out.
Ta for popping in and chatting. Appreciated.

Good Morning MFW'rs
Damp start to the morn 🙄 But at least everyone seems to have had an 'OK' night's sleep - we'll take that!
DH has a 'head-ache', as opposed to shooting pains in the ear region, so whilst there is still pain, it is a different pain. And again, physical examinations with tools in confined spaces are going to leave some sort of irritation/inflammation, so at the mo, I'm thinking this is how it's supposed to be - fingers crossed we move to the next stage of drying up and healing, soon. Drops have already been administered, and co-deen was only taken last night at bedtime.
Yesterdays towels wash dried well, although the rain started earlier than forecast, so I had to rush to get the washing in. It's been on the airer overnight and will be popped away just now.
If I do any washing today, I shall have to be intentional as to how I propose to dry it - dehu/launderette, as there won't be any scope for line drying. But there are clothes that are needed for hols/the minute school starts up again, so future self would be appreciative of me trying to do something now.
I will get a brief shop in today. I don't think there will be any budget left over to take into next week, but we do have plenty of food, and I have bought some things to take next week, so we're likely to end the month at around £250 I think, which isn't too shabby - not brilliant, but OK. If we don't end up going next week, I shall be diverting the grocery money into my own personal wine lake........... 😉
Right, best go and prep some snap and shift-a-tail-feather. Ta for popping by.

As someone who has had serious earache in the past (although not quite to stage Mrgp has gone) I can sympathise. I once spent a weekend propped up as I couldn’t bear to lay down on the affected ear. It took 2 lots of antibiotics to shift it. We were due to go away, I ended up stopping at home whilst they went. I hope he feels better soon.Love 🐞
