Good Morning MFW'rs.
VH - isn't chicken pox in an adult far worse than in childhood as well? I know that shingles is a whole different level, but I thought adult onset CP could be bad too.
KajiKita - mixed. DH was up in the night - twice I think, and he's moaning of pain this morning. I'm wondering if 'something' is moving (which is notionally a good thing), as he said there were squelching noises at various times if he swallowed (for example), yesterday. But it's not a good start. Work are already on at him to return. He's not better, and still has an medical appt tomorrow, so we will await the outcome of that.
I've put a wash on, but the beebeecee have changed their minds again. We were given dry today, with a breeze, but now there is the chance of showers. Given we didn't have half the rain forecast yesterday, and even had lovely sunny spells, I'm a bit niggly-nelly with the forecasters. Anyhoo, I have put on the workwear from last week, as I'd been able to prioritise other stuff, but that has become the priority now to get it done, so it'll be ready for when it's next needed.
I've got to get my head into holiday gear, as time is ticking and I've actually sorted very little. i've got to make sure we've all got the necessary linens needed. I don't mind taking things, as it clearly keeps the cost down, it's just that some things will be more of a nuisance to do without/replace if I forget.
2/3rds of the way through October. Time is whizzing.
Can't think of anything MSE relevant at the mo, so I'm off to administer ear drops, find a second cup of coffee and prep snap.

I nipped to get some milk, yoghurt and bits and pieces. I went to MrS and hB. No boxes in MrS. I did pick up some school uniform - will have to see if it fits. I have altered my siggie figgie.
DH is still complaining of pain - not as much as at its zenith, but still in pain. If he can hold out, the appt is with specialists tomorrow - whilst he may get a GP/111 appt, there will be the possibility they are generalists, and may not be able to pinpoint why this is going on so long. Although I'm wondering whether it stems from what the specialist said last week, and the infection was buried so deep, that it's taken time for the medication to start having an impact, and now is taking time to clear up - but I'm no medic, so I'm just trying to stay supportive.
It will be soup for lunch. More likely pea, as I can't think of any other soup that would be tomato based. We've done that to death a bit.

Ha ha, dearest KajiKita - it is clear that you have my back! Thank you. I went with pea soup in the end - marrowfat peas for 'heft' (no tatties left) and conventional frozen green peas for taste. I did make it 'cream of' with the addition of a lump of greek yoghurt. For flavouring I picked mint, a splash of wine vinegar and a bit of the M&$ greek seasoning. I didn't measure anything out, but it made enough to exactly fill 2 bowls.
DH is quite good about food, and will 99% of the time eat what is on offer - if he's feeling OK. I mean, the only requirement at the moment is nothing too hard/crunchy/needing a full bite etc. And he's always been better than me at sucking up repetition, and will eat the same thing everyday - his self-made sangers for snap are testament to this 🙄
At least I have the mushrooms for another day/another dish. DH will eat pasta, of course he will, but he's not quite so enamoured of it as LG is.
I have done a bit of baking. I made some chocolate chip buns, and I made the beebeecee good food mags recipe 'Flapjack apple pudding', which has got to be something like 30 years old. I hadn't got any brown sugar, so put treacle in instead. I don't have a link for the actual recipe, but if you think of a sponge mix (made with soft brown sugar) and add in 50g of rolled oats, atop chopped apple, then you'll not be far off the pudding I've made. Annoyingly I keep forgetting you're supposed to put some of the sugar and butter on the apples (why), which I always forget to do - I must amend the recipe quantities to reduce the amounts down. I want to taste apple, not sugar and fat.
DH is still in pain, although it is presenting more as sinus pain now, which - albeit painful - may indicate that the inflammation is receding? and it's moving away from being nerve pain. I don't know, I'm just going by the fact that he's not showing himself to be in such pain - without diminishing that he is still in pain, if that makes sense. He's still feeling giddy/unstable, so he's not done yet.
I am so glad I stuck with putting the washing out. The forecast showers didn't turn up (thank heavens), and the sun is out now, with a nice breeze, so the workwear should come in pretty much dry.

Just delurking to say I've got fingers and toes crossed for you that the doctors can get Mr GP sorted out soon and you can all relax and enjoy your holiday next week. You very much deserve it.🤞🤞🤞🤞8

Flapjack apple pud sounds very yummy. Glad DH is beginning to get there - 🤞🏼that continues to be the case!I've switched to the Met Office's forecast (since the BBC moved away from using the Met Office) - I find it can be a bit more accurate. Sadly though, when it said 30% chance of rain now, I've got that 30%.... and two loads of washing getting wetter rather than drier.... oh well, there's tomorrow...Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Thanks LotsofTea - I really hope the Drs can either confirm this is how this infection works out (they have seen it at its worst last week), or they can suggest some other treatment to make this all calm down and heal up. I'm finding it difficult to get interested in the holiday, even though I want to go and be with my fam. more than ever.
tmv - I was lucky, just as we were coming back from school, it started to everso lightly spit with rain, so I immediately got the washing in. Five minutes later, the heavens opened - and it would have reversed all the good work of the 6 hours up to that point! As it is, my few bits are dry enough to go on the airer and will probably be dry overnight. But I'm not so sure I would have noticed had I not been out on the school run - well, not 'til it was too late anyway.

Poor MrGP - what a rotten infection this is. I wonder if lying down to sleep makes the gunk sink or congregate in one place which makes things worse? I know that even with a run of the mill snotty type cold I always feel much more congested and yukky in the morning. Luckily I re-read that because it had auto-corrected to make me much more yummy in the morning 🤦♀️. Also apologies for using snotty as a descriptor, my mum would have very much disapproved of such "common" language. That's why my kids thought this little rhyme was so very risqué "if you see a bunny with a nose that is runny, don't think it's funny, cos it's snot". Sorry - bye for now 🙀8

@Blackcats 🤣🤣🤣Fortunately it was only spitting here - so it'll be fine tomorrow. Glad you got yours in.Hope DH manages to wait until the appointment tomorrow.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Blackcats, don't worry, that is the sort of language I understand 🤧 And I for one, liked the children's poetry 🤭 I'm not sure it's any worse for lying down. It's more a case of if the pain killers are winding down. The discharge hasn't really changed - as such. I mean it wasn't the key feature - the pain was always the thing. Difficult to know if it's swelling that is causing the issue or infected material. Hopefully the medics tomorrow will know what they're looking for, and where.
We ended up having fish fingers, chips and baked beans for tea. I did ask DH if he thought he could manage it, and he said he could. The chips were the thicker ones, not crispy, crunchy french fries, so everything was relatively easy to eat - especially when cut up. Pudding was the flapjack apple pudding with greek yoghurt. DH & LG enjoyed it, so I'm glad I made it - the apples were free, brought home from one of the roadside boxes somewhere.
I wish tea had made DH feel better, but he's gone off to bed ☹️
The washing is on the airer - I'm so glad I took the chance today, I'm up to date with workwear. Tomorrow will need to be linens, but I'll double check that the forecast hasn't changed.
I can't think of anything else MSE to add. Ta for popping by. Greying XPounds for Panes £7,705/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023
