Phew - I'm so pleased that you have been able to go on your holibobs. I think your MSE gang of chums will be mighty relieved that you got away. Hope DH can recuperate, LG continues to have big FUN and you are able to multi task by patting yourself on the back whilst enjoying the view.

Pleased to hear you all got away. Enjoy the simple pleasures - the best in my opinion. I hope Mr GP makes a speedy recovery and the holiday is distracting. I'm glad you were able to surprise LG, that will make it extra special for them. Glad the spreadable butter worked and you can use this method on future SC holidays.
Make sure you take some time out for yourself, even if it only to enjoy a quiet cuppa.

Really glad you got away and LG is enjoying themselves. Wishing MrGP continued recovery“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Ha ha - dearest Baileys_Babe my "holiday" to myself is having made sure as much washing was done before we left so that everyone had clothes to wear on our return, and not to worry about 'pegging out' whilst here 😁😉having said that, if for some reason, I have a rush of blood to the head and feel it necessary to wash something, I have spotted a launderette...... 🤭Baileys_Babe said:Pleased to hear you all got away. We have just been for a walk, it was lovely, and both LG came along without complaint, and LG was busy spotting wildlife - including a pheasant (male) and a deer! I think it is a.... roe? deer - what are the small ones (not muntjac). The sun is setting and I'm going to have a sit down and transfer some pictures before starting tea. Today has been mostly good. I did have to read the riot act earlier, as Fam. were being a bit 'not bovvered' - heck, we can do that in Greying Town! But it did the trick and we had a good look around the nearby market town - DH even remembered where the car park we always use (it's still the cheapest), was and so we had 3 hrs looking around, and spent some money - including some on some local 'beverages' 😉 EH and tmv would possibly heartily approve 🍻There were also some hardware stores that had bits and pieces that we picked up, plus one of the Matt Haig Christmas books for LG (hard back) 👍
Definitely a 'slower pace' day today. I'm pretty sure we'll go to a museum tomorrow - just need to double-check with DH. We can save money booking online, but I just need to check if he can put it on his card.

Have finally managed to book the tickets for the museum - a 15% discount for booking online, so not to be sniffed at, but wiggly-woggly phone signal didn't help proceedings. Still, done now, and QR code received. And for once, we get to benefit from a 'small' family, discount. Normally family tickets are for 2 adults + 2 kiddos, and are about the same price as we pay for the 3 of us, but there was an option for a family of 3, so I booked it 😁
I forgot to say, we also went to MrW today 😁It's not a huge store, but it is a MrW. I found (eventually) the chipotle paste that I was looking for (they've changed the packaging 🙄), plus I got some sumac and some dried porcini. There were some YS'd things, but unfortunately nothing that stuck me as 'must buy'. The store was heaving.

I was thinking if their was a washing machine in the accommodation, using that and the heating to get a load or two done while it's not costing you any extra 😉Greying_Pilgrim said:

Another fan of simple pleasures at all times GP. Glad you got away in the end and hope the OH continues to heal at pace. Enjoy the museum and the rest of your day/stay. x3

We always ensure that we return from our Hebrides trips with clean clothes rather than a bag of dirty ones, and it also means we can take far less clothes with us for the trip than we would otherwise have to! I'm paying a good chunk for the accommodation, I'm going to make the most of it!Baileys_Babe said:

I'm so glad you got to go on your holiday after all your planning. We've also been away at a self catering place for half term and have been having low key fun. We've gone for walks, skimmed stones, played board games and today we made our own Halloween decorations. Our teen has been happy with it all and is really excited about the promised old-school games of apple bobbing and putting a sweet on top of a mould of flour and cutting bits off until it falls. Yes he's had screen time as well but we've had lots of simple family fun. It's been lovely.7
