@slm6002 it is but I had a terrible night's sleep with mad things rolling round my head. Think even wanted change can be disquieting. Off to work soon, the going to pick up my bite guard from the dentist (as I grinds me teeth at night) then aa lido swim which wil be lush.
Hope everyone has the best day possible and takes a few slow moments to reflect and breathe4 -
@mrs_slapshot and @Florafauna, you both have a lot going on at the moment! I hope you can both have some down time too.
I had a birthday a few days ago, and think I've spent the time since recovering from it! Not what you think. We are the kind of couple who have a tidy up before our children come round, so that kept me busy. How does clutter grow back so easily as soon as we go to work or take some time to relax? Anyway, it was lovely to see the children and grandchildren, and our youngest, who couldn't be there the other day, came round yesterday evening to spend some time.
I had a lot of odds and ends in the fridge and had lost track of some which have now been thrown out as beyond use, and I'm using up others. That resulted in a big baking session yesterday and too much in the cake tins today, but the baking was a nice thing to be doing.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Baking is so relaxing and you get lush treats at the end of it. New bite guard has been picked up and the dentist gave me the plaster mould of my teeth. Tempted to paint them wild colours. Had a fabulously chilly swim which was very calming and have had a cheese and mushroom omelette. Just off to tidy the kitchen and then will try and warm up a bit more - currently have a hot water bottle up me jumper3

Oh @Brie I'm sorry to have freaked you out! 😁 I was thinking 70s psychedelic colours. Not seen the Taxco poster but it sounds yuck. On the other hand and moving on, the bite guard is brilliant. Great to wake up with a non achy jaw4

Morning all, I’ve been AWOL, although have continued to read everyone’s posts with interest.
@Florafauna, your posts in particular really resonate, as my house is going on the market this weekend, and I’m also working my notice until I take early retirement at the end of June. I have always loved where I live, (been here for 18 years), but now really want to overhaul my lifestyle. Currently live on a family friendly estate, you can walk into town or to the local schools and good motorway access. I want to move to somewhere more rural, where I will have space for a greenhouse and to grow my own veg, I’d also love to have some chickens later on.
Although I am daunted by the move, and even now still questioning if I’m doing the right thing, I can also picture my new life, and that’s exciting

@Smudgeismydog, it's a funny old time isn't it. I got a bit nervous and wobbly even though this is a wanted change. Also don't think the four cups of coffee I drank helped. Was quite chilly after swimming so I had two in rapid succession then we went out to hide from the family viewing the house as the estate agent was showing them round and drank more coffee. A long walk and some toast has calmed everything down.
Quiet evening here planned, telly, fire and knitting Fancy Scarf #2.
Hope you all have a nice evening my slow friends4 -
Sorry I've been awol this week - had a fabulous time with my grandbaby last Saturday but late that night he became pretty poorly (he'd been a bit ropey for a couple of days before our adventures) and he's been that way all week 🤦♀️ the doctors have finally decided that it needs a course of antibiotics and if he's not sorted by the end of the course they will need further tests done 😔 suffice to say my week has been taken up with helping my dd out as much as I've been able to so I haven't had enough time to update here.
@annieb64 - there are so many Dorothy L Sayers fans here! I did have a quick mooch at the genre she wrote and they don't really appeal to me but if I see one in a charity shop I'll definitely buy it and give it a go.
@Moorviews - nothing wrong with having an underwear making addiction! 😂 I hope you got some of your weekend pottering in 😉 I'm glad you had a nice time with your family though.
@Cherryfudge - I'm glad you managed a good night's sleep, it makes such a difference! Did you manage to get some seeds sown?
@Brie - did you manage to find your book? I love your description of the tiny dogs, it really made me giggle!! 😂 I hope you're over the painted teeth trauma!!
@Florafauna - did you enjoy your theatre trip? Sorry your swimsuits didn't work out, hopefully you'll find what you need soon. Well done on telling the big boss and getting the house listed! It's scary but exciting!! I can understand the apprehension about all the changes even though they are wanted, it's the unknown that is unsettling but its rare that we can't adapt to the changes 😉 I'm pleased the bite guard is working out well - not sure about the painting of the impressions though! 😳😂
@ancientmum - welcome! 😁 I'm glad you enjoyed the community event 😊 I'm not artistic or crafty either but I love painting- it doesn't matter what it looks like as long as you enjoy making it! 😉 I love the idea of releasing your inner 10 year old!! 😂
@zcrat41 - I'm sick of wet weather too 🤦♀️ we've had more rain here than I can ever remember - we've lived here for 25 years and this is the first time we've had flooding near us! 😳 I hope you managed to get some seeds sown and have lots of beautiful sweet peas in the summer 😁
@mrs_slapshot - I'm so sorry you've felt so poorly and have so much going on with your son 😔 I really hope things calm down for you and you get some time to breathe 🤞 I hope your appointment with pensionwise gave you a bit more clarity on decisions that you are making and that you can do what you'd like to do.
@Smudgeismydog - I hope getting your house on the market has gone well - I moved from the burbs to a rural location 25 years ago and I absolutely love it! I'm sure that you will too - it's amazing being able to be surrounded by nature, away from traffic noise and being able to grow a lot of your own food. If I go to my nearest city now I feel really uncomfortable until I can get back to the peace!
So, this weekend has been quiet so far, I've spent the day reading and meal planning and am going back to my book soon! Tomorrow will be busy but I'll be doing mainly things I find relaxing - I'm going food shopping (the only non-relaxing thing!!); making ivy laundry detergent; planting seeds; transplanting seedlings; sorting compost; making cashew and macadamia cheese; making tofu and making soya milk.
I'll also be harvesting a cabbage as dinner tomorrow is going to be braised cabbage and green beans with garlic served with butter beans in a cashew cream sauce and mixed grains. I'm very much looking forward to it! 😋
Happy slow weekend!! 😁

Hello all.I stupidly started cleaning the greenhouse today. Thought it would take an hour. 5 hours later and 2 marital rows it’s sparkly and shiny! Worth it in the end but why do I never leave enough time!!Husband has decompressed with the rugby and I made a yummy tea of homemade pesto pasta, homemade garlic bread from the freezer and ds (10) made cookies he learnt at his school club the week. Perfect evening!8
