So I am being very slow, lying in bed while we are all having a little nap. We're off to the theatre tonight and after a swim, a little shopping and lunch we are all needing a little zizz.
Sunny now after a cold start to the day8 -
I'm loving reading about other people's slow living and I hope you don't mind if I pop in to say I'm another Dorothy L Sayers fan. I also like the radio adaptions which come up on Radio 4 extra now and then with Ian Carmichael as Lord Peter.
I went to a community event yesterday, making collages from various fabrics and embellishments. I'm not particularly crafty or artistic but was pleased with the result. Other participants were saying how lovely it was not to have the usual time pressures and have permission to make a mess! Hello everyone. Still enjoying reading all the slow living things. We’ve been a bit made here recently. New staff starting tomorrow so hopefully that’ll give me a chance to get back into a routine. So fed up of this wet weather though. The washing, dear lord the washing. My kids can’t seem to step outside without getting muddy! Hoping to get some sweet peas started today. I’m hoping back a bit on other seeds as I started too early last year and it just feels too wet and cold here right now.9

The grass as well as daffofils etc have suddenly shot up and flowered etc. Which means that the tiddly dogs people out walking are barely visible. Driving about yesterday and 3 times saw people with leads and nothing more than a fluffy tail wagging above the greenery. Looked quite silly!! Just popping on to say 'hi' - I've had an enforced slowdown over the last week as I got a chest infection. Made me feel really poorly and still not back to full strength! Didn't work at all last week which is not like me. Glad I had decided not to go to the States mid-March as I would right now be panicking about getting on top of my work before I go!
Have spent this afternoon pulling information together for a phone conversation tomorrow with Pensionwise - I'm really hoping I get some useful information that will help me think about my retirement options. Still thinking about retiring at the end of this year, but wondering if asking for some unpaid leave first, then going down to three days might be a better option. I think there's a 90% chance the leave (sabbatical) will be refused so then I need to think really carefully about just resigning (but it's so scary!!). We have a lot going on at home at the moment as my son lost his dad tragically last year, and we are dealing with the fallout in terms of sorting the estate, getting my son moved into his new home and also dealing with the emotional side of things. Lots going on!8 -
Hello everyone nice to hear everyone's news. All the guests have gone home and we have recalibrated the house! Had a great time, theatre, bookshop visit, lunch out and lots of swimming but we weren't rushing around either.
I've sent back both long-sleeved swimsuits, neither of them were right but will need one to swim in in the North Sea. So will keep looking.
Busy week so just chilling now7 -
A slow start listening to the sweet song of a Spring morning. What joy birds give just going about their business! It will soon be time for the swallows and house martins to return. The weekend wasn’t as laid back as I was predicting but was still very good. It was a really lovely surprise to see all the family too. Sunday I spent sewing and kept the cooking minimal. Not too much clearing up to do either. I am enjoying my new exercise class and will try to keep that up without injuring myself by being too enthusiastic.5
