Slow Living - Doing It Old Style!

It feels very chilly and it is raining here. I'm having another at home day. I got a message this morning from the library that the book I reserved yesterday is already there for me.
My husband is walking past the library tomorrow so he can pick it up for me and drop the Harlan Coben book back, which is handy.
I got an orthopedic pillow from Amazon which gave me such a good sleep last night! I wasn't tossing and turning like the night before. I found my lavender oil pulse point yesterday while I was decluttering my skin care so I am going to start using that before bed too.

@Wednesday2000 - I'm glad the new pillow is helping you sleep!! 😁
Yesterday was a slow one - I spent most of the day just pottering about doing bits and pieces and reading. The weather was pretty grim so I didn't get out in the garden but hopefully will get some stuff done this weekend with my grandbaby 😁 Today I have the entire day to myself and no plans at all - I'm just going to see where the day takes me 😁
Dinner last night was a lentil pastisio with a mustard sauce and a 'nutty parm' topping which I served with broccoli and carrots - dh is out tonight so I'll be having leftovers for dinner 😁

fish cakes and spinach tonight. I'm glad you managed to avoid the chips @Brie!! 😁
Today has been a mixture of slow and busy - I've potted on some tarragon, prepared dinner and sorted some laundry; dd was here so we had a lovely chat then she went to work on the cleaning, I did some reading, some watching of carp TV and a bit of sorting of my tea cupboard! It was all done with full awareness of the tasks (apart from the rubbish telly!) and I've really enjoyed it 😁 I'm starting to shift the cough and I'm feeling better so I'm hoping tomorrow to get out for a walk and do my asana practice 🤞
Dinner tonight will be tofu baked in gochujang, mirin and basil sauce; beetroot and apple salad; bloomed wild rice and pomegranate with an orange, date and mint dressing and stir fried brussel sprouts with tamari. I'll post a piccie once it's ready 😁

I have a lovely slow day planned ☺️ I'm going to have a long hot lazy shower, a meditation session then an asana practice before I go downstairs to prep food for tonight (I'm making mushroom and walnut 'mince' with a tomato and thyme sauce to go with the remaining bloomed wild rice) then I will be reading until I go to pick up my grandbaby from school as he's here for the weekend 😍 from then on it will be playing trains, making marble runs and who knows what else?!😂
Tomorrow we are planning to go to the beach and the woods, plant some seeds and do some potting on, make a bug hotel and make some date 'no bake' cookies. Sunday will probably just be relaxing and possibly going for a walk - it depends if he wants to get out of his jammies!! 😂
Anyway, I may not be on the boards much this weekend so I hope you all have a fab slow one! 😁DNF: £708.92/£1000

Hi all
sorry I’m late to the party but i thought i should introduce myself. I used to be a primary teacher - part time but nevertheless it meant my ‘free’ time was frenzied. It became apparent that my mum was developing dementia so, after some calculationsI decided to take my meagre teaching pension (short, part time career) and get a p/t job. Got the job but, at about the same time, a dx of cancer. Anyway the p/t job is nowhere near as stressful as teaching so i’m still working, and worked after surgery, through chemo and now through my adjuvant therapy. Mum has a dx of vascular dementia and alzheimer’s. Stepdad is her carer but we have additional support.
i am at home with DD who came home as she returned to uni to study for a master’s and has very recently started to work in the NHS, so it’s been good having her home; her course involved lots of remote learning anyway. Now she’s working she contributes to the bills.
I’ve rediscovered my knitting mojo and have knitted two jumpers for myself, and a top for a friend for christmas from Prima patterns. And baby cardigans for various new babies…currently knitting for babies Esme and Adelaide.
I make jam, definitely an activity requiring patience and time. I’m also a stalwart on the Flylady thread.
I’m mortgage free because i had insurance - woot!
Home wise there are decorating projects ongoing, next one is the hall, stairway and landing but a professional will be engaged, though I have sanded dark brown cupboard doors and repainted them white. i’ve done the one on the landing, i have the under stairs cupboard doors to do.
I am a bit wary of travelling abroad due to my medication but am making the most of free time. Last year i had 2 trips to London, by train, to go to the theatres (and The Ivy which was a real treat) and my friend and i are off to Liverpool soon. Birthday treat. I’m going for experiences rather than things. We also plan to go to Edinburgh and Glasgow and i have never been to Scotland. Making good use of my senior railcard.
Looking forward to getting to know you.
Last nights tea, incidentally, was a lasagne constructed from left over bolognese sauce portions topped with an easy white sauce ( made in the microwave) and grated cheese. Must have spent all of 5 minutes in the kitchen putting it together.
