@moorviews I also love making my own knickers! So incredibly comfortable and great to make them in whatever colours or patterns. If it's not too strange, I'd love a picture😂.
Had a good but nippy swim tonight then went out for tea to celebrate our anniversary. I'm so encouraged by the scarf positivity that I'm going to start another one.
Enjoy your evenings slowie slowsters9 -

@Florafauna, your scarf is a lovely piece of work, and isn't the yarn beautiful!
I've not managed much slowness recently apart from a return to reading Dorothy L Sayers and finding fellow fans on this forum, which is two treats in one.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
The sun's been out and I think I’m solar powered (Onebrokelady)

Thanks @cherryfudge,im also a lover of Dorothy L Sayers. Back in the day when I lived in London, I once got chatting to a man on the tube who told me that Dorothy LSayers was his former boss in the civil service and she was very nice and had a booming laugh!
I've decided to start another fancy scarf as I have another ball of wool to use up. Went for a lovely lido swim after work, cold but very calming and refreshing. Also going swimming again tomorrow with my lovely sis who is here for the weekend. DD and DSil plus dog also coming tomorrow so a lovely weekend ahead.
Sleep well folks8 -
@Wednesday2000 - I'm really glad you enjoyed Peter Kay, it seems like he has quite a few supporters on this thread! 😉
@Moorviews - well done for making the underwear 👏 I'm glad you've chosen to do something enjoyable - it's important to do things that take you out of patterns of thinking to give new perspective so I really hope it's helped you!
@carolbee - that's a long time to wait for a gig!! 😳 I hope you enjoy it 😁
@Florafauna - I hope you had a lovely anniversary and I look forward to seeing the new scarf! 😊 Have a fab weekend with your family! 😁
@Cherryfudge - I've never heard of Dorothy L Sayers, I'll need to look her up! Reading is such a pleasure and always relaxes me 😁
First chamomile tea of the day has been drunk and I'm going to be getting ready to go out soon. I've going to pick up my grandbaby for a sleepover tonight and we've got a full day planned which includes steam train rides, toy shop visits and duck feeding! 😍 I can't wait!! 😁
Tonight I'll be having a quiet one once he's in bed - dh is out with his friends so I'm going to read my book, listen to 'new-age' music and splat on the sofa 😁

Cherryfudge.I'm a Dorothy L Sayers fan. My tutor at university recommended "Gaudy Night" and it's still my favourite.
Have you read any of Jill Paton Walsh's Lord Peter Wimsey novels? Not as good as Dorothy L Sayers but i still like them5 -
Cherryfudge and annieb64 - I enjoyed reading Dorothy L. Sayers when in my 20s and am feeling inspired for a revisit after reading the enthusiasm on here. I can remember going back and forth to the library like a yo yo looking for them. That was a lovely time, being within walking distance of a good sized library. Now, they are barely present in my area and the mobile library has ceased completely. I am someone who could happily spend hours in a library but times have changed and a lot of book and armchair space has gone to providing computers. I realise that this is much needed nowadays of course. It is great also to be able to reserve books online and collect them from the nearest library rather than taking pot luck.Florafauna - I think that I might be going the same way in wanting to make lots of comfy knickers! My courage would fail me on posting a photo of them on MSE though 😂 It sounds as though you have a lovely weekend ahead after all that hard work in preparing your home for sale.Leftatthetrafficlights - thank you it was helpful, although I might just become addicted to underwear making! Have a fun filled weekend with your grand baby 😊
Like others I find Peter Kay hilarious and can only imagine what fun it must be to be in the audience at his live shows. It will be a busy couple of weeks ahead so I am hoping to spend the weekend pottering about and doing whatever takes my fancy.6 -
@Florafauna, @leftatthetrafficlights, @annieb64 and @Moorviews, if you are interested in further Dorothy L Sayers discussion, it starts about a third of the way down this page and includes some knowledgeable people talking about the social conditions that the early books are grounded in.
Gaudy Night is my favourite too, but isn't the best starting place. ("We'll start at the very beginning..."). The stories do develop as you go along and get to know the characters.
My slow living this weekend - and I've already started with a good night's sleep, which I know is a rare treasure - will include more reading, a bit of Italian study and some seed planting. For that I need to have a good look at available window sill space and search the shed for a plank to make a second tier of space!
I might also try to make progress on some knitting and sewing projects, but we'll see.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
