I have house cats and most do well inside. They have plenty of windows, all the scratching posts, food and love they need and all the safety of inside. It’s so easy for cats to be run over, snatched or go missing that it really does make sense if you don’t have lots of room outside for them. I live in the country now, but by a busy a road, plus farmers aren’t tolerant of cats eating their pheasants up here, so I’m glad they are inside.

I’ve been doing PAD although I don’t really know exactly what it is. If I have enough money I try to make a payment every day towards a savings goal. I also have roundups towards one savings goal. I have a bit over £100 towards my next veg box which is £200 and £3 (🤣) in my tattoo fund so I can get a nice coverup over the tattoo on my back which I don’t really like.

  • My friend has had an elderly cat and now has a deaf cat who are indoors, they were from the rescue, very happy cats! Oh I am obsessed with PADding, feels like a good daily boost!
  • Money goals; would like one holiday a year (tick), pay off CC debt (on track), emergency fund (tick although about to spend it on getting heating fixed and then will have to build it up again), keep paying to house saver (tick), feel less panic about money (this is starting to happen).

Also I am due a payrise this year which I am going to put towards my pension. I am also going to get more money when I have finished paying for my bike on cycle to work and going to out that £50 towards my pension.

  • Going to try and manage a no spend day, unless I buy my mum a coffee when we go out today. Back home tomorrow, the trains seem to be running so will hopefully get there ok. Having a lovely week off work although it’s a busy time so I’m a bit worried about what I’ll go back to. I need to plan my leave better. Heating fixed on Monday, I cannot wait.

  • Trains are still running. Last day chez famille. It hasn’t been amazing weather but I’ve had a nice time.

Ended up buying a shower mat for £8.99 yesterday so not a no spend day. My mum bought us coffee and we had a good chat looking out at the harbour. £12 to spend on the train today.

  • My mum did me a spreadsheet so I can record all my spending. Now to actually start. Home after a few days away, flat is not too cold. Few small spends today, got my supermarket shop coming. Hopefully the veg in my fridge that I forgot to take away are still ok so I can have a veg lunch.

  • Spent £10 on an exercise class but no coffee today. I mean, I’ve had coffee but all at home. I’m putting all my spends on my spreadsheet successfully and it does help to see them all laid out.

My council tax will go up next month and my service charge is going up by about £50. Most other things are pretty much staying the same.

  • Getting my heating fixed today. That’s a big spend! Gonna try for a NSD apart from that.

I really enjoyed the exercise class yesterday and I might try and go again. Made a lovely smoked salmon pasta and got leftovers for tea. Nice and early bed and slept well apart from an anxiety dream about my old job.
