  • Managing more no spend days and Monzo keep messaging me to say I’m spending less than last month so things are looking positive. I need to get my bike fixed but should have the money leftover at the end of the month to do this. The electrician came and my heater was working although obviously it’s decided to stop working again this evening.

  • Best of luck, I think budgets need flexibility to work well, so can take some tweaking to get right!
  • I realised that obviously I’m spending less as I’ve separated out my food spend from my day to day spend. However my main bank account looks much more healthy too so I think I’m doing something right. I’m going into town tomorrow and got quite a bit planned to buy but that’s what my week to week money is for so I don’t feel bad about it.

Heating is still broken. I’ll give the electrician a couple more days then chase him. If he’s not forthcoming I think I’ll have to find another electrician.

  • Still sticking to the budget. Had a spendy day today as went into town and bought some toiletries and then lunch. Also some daffodils and a snack. Bought a veg brush online and a coffee when I got home. I spent about £50 in total and I’ve got some money left in weekly spends and not expecting to spend much tomorrow so should have a bit to roll over to next week. Also did an @sda shop with bits and pieces for the next week which was £30 leaving me £30 on food for the next couple of weeks with all meals shopped for apart from anything small to top up. I’m also going away for 3 days the week after next so I won’t spend money then (have some money set aside for spending while I’m away).

  • Still doing well. Had a bit of a V!nted spend this morning and then have had a cold so bought food to cheer myself up at work so not got much money in weekly spends until Monday. I should be alright because I’ve got no plans for the weekend. My electrician has gone awol and I’m having a heck of a job finding anyone who repairs Dimplex heaters so still cold.

Doing well on food money. Having cheesy chips with ketchup and mayo for tea, as I said I’m not too well so bang goes the diet. Can’t wait for my week off next week.

A recruiter rang me earlier and excitedly left a message about a great opportunity they had for me. I’m tempted to ring back just to find out what it is but I doubt I’ll be tempted away from my current role.

  • Still doing ok. Roll on payday. I don’t have any council tax next month so can throw double at my credit card. I met a friend for coffee yesterday, it was her turn to buy coffee so that was nice. I’ve still not found someone to fix my heating, it seemed to start working for a couple of days after I dusted behind it but had now stopped again. I rung someone up yesterday who seemed to go through to a call centre and then said they could have someone with me in 2 hours but I’ve been burned before by that kind of operation. You don’t really know who is doing the work and there’s no comeback if you have any problems. I think I’m going to ring a local group who have done work for me before. They’re a little bit more expensive but they won’t completely rip me off and they turn up when they say.

I’m still pretty much sticking to my weekly budget. Went £10 over and had to buy some stuff from my main account last week as I had a cold I wanted a lot of snacks etc. I’m getting over the cold. I’ve got the week off next week so I’m looking forward to that. Food account has £12 in it and I shouldn’t need to buy anything else this month so I’ve come in almost exactly on budget which is good. Still got a bit of stuff left in the freezer.

  • Just had breakfast. Managed to get some bramley apples in Ald: when I went for my walk yesterday so I had everything I needed for a good breakfast and didn’t get tempted to go out and buy something as I did yesterday. Might get some frozen berries next time I get a delivery so I’ve always got some fruit in for breakfasts.

Chilled out day today. I’ve got a few things to do before going away tomorrow and might go to the cinema. This will be no spend because I’ve got a free ticket left on my membership. Might apply for a job, just need to check the closing date. Also need to collect my train tickets and print my other tickets at the library. I never quite trust mobile tickets and my phone battery isn’t the best.

  • Been away for a few days, it's nice to get home. Got paid, have paid off the last of my old credit card and paid £100 towards the balance transfer card which means I'm on track to clear it during the interest free period. Got to the end of the month with money left in my food account so topped that up with the same amount for February. Having the £65 once a week as general spends works well for me. I have set up loads of pots for things I am saving towards (new shoes, new boiler, new computer, bike service etc). I topped them all up when I got paid. I am on track to just skim my overdraft this month which is good, as normally I live right at the edge of it. I did do some overtime last month which made the budgeting a bit easier but next month I will only have the one credit card bill to pay. Just need to stay on track now!

  • Doing well, had a few spends from my current account so will be a bit into my overdraft this month. Not very pleased by the news I might have to work until 71, really makes you wonder why you bother. Nothing much exciting happening, cooking two meals for friends and family at the weekend but that will be enjoyable.

  • Done a few more spends from my current account, I need to crack down on that. I’ve cancelled a craft fair I was going to as it would just be more expense and I’m not sure I’d enjoy it much. Having a cheap weekend except for lunch out at a cafe on Saturday.

My food spends are nice and low this month so should have some money left over there. I’ll put that towards my credit card. I’ve also been putting the odd £10 here and there towards my credit card.
