@kazwookie over the years I have built up a collection of towels in the sale from Yves Delormes. Not cheap but they last and last, they get heavily used and washed a lot here and still look and feel brand new.
@Fayolle fab the fire is roaring see you soon!!

Hi all
LR dusted and hoovered and fire cleaned out. Our bedroom also dusted and hoovered and bed made. Recycling out, washing over the airer, DW loaded and set going. DH has been home all day feeling ill. He did make tea though.
Been to hairdressers, paid stuff done.
Mr Ts delivery to finalise. Pleased that I am sticking to my budget.
Feeling quite calm today, two more sleeps until my boy is home for Christmas.10 -
Bath towels and life time thereof? An interesting debate!.
I have three bath sheet size towels that I bought, probably, around 1995. They are 100 % cotton, thick pile and wonderful. They have lasted remarkably well and will probably see me out at the end of my days... I would not change them. The label in them (I've just checked!) says "Caress" I probably got them from Debenhams.
WRT to hand towels, I'm still using some 100% cotton ones I inherited from my Dad who bought them from John Lewis in the early 1990s. He died in 1996! They are still perfectly functional - not threadbare at all...
Moral of the tale - buy the best quality you can (in cotton) and they'll last you a lifetime!
Stuff I've done today.... Not quite completed all my list but have:- Started on the Mr T order for Friday - boy it took ages - I still need to check it again tomoz or Thurs
- Made welcome to new home card for DD and delivered it to new home. Got lost on the way back (new-to-me part of town and I didn't put the sat nav on!) so it took about 30 minutes longer to get back home than I'd planned for.
- Did some admin (off list) but which took a lot longer than expected because I couldn't log onto the council website - ended up phoning so what should have taken 4 minutes took 30!
- Did make a batch of non-vegan scones which are now in the freezer but failed on the vegan ones because I needed to go out and get some more soya milk.
Have also agreed to have DGD on Friday, but will need DS's help as I have a GP appointment late lunchtime and Mr T is due to deliver in the morning. Fortunately DS has promptly agreed to help so that's good... It's such a bonus having him living next door!
I hope your day went well peeps xxxxI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

- Did gym swim.
- Went to library.
- Visited friend in care home, she liked her flowers.
- Vinyl floor men arrived at noon; all done! Really pleased with it.
- Report checked and emailed. Tomorrow's assessment is cancelled as the student is ill, so that gives me an extra half day although I will have to nip into uni to collect the staff gift of a hoodie. I really hope it fits as I've heard rumours they are coming up small and I ordered a medium from their measurements; you can't change them. I'm so happy to get one as I'd planned to buy a uni t-shirt or something as this will be my last academic year and I'm quite sentimental, having gone there as a part time student in 1978 then returned as staff in 2013.
- wrapped Mr N's presents while he was out at photography club.
- did a few more things from list.
- started a list of things to take to Mum's and a sort of menu for the first 2 days we are with her as it will be easier if i sort it out. I can't really get my head round not doing all the catering myself for the festive period; I always do too much and I love it but it's not my year so I feel a bit stressed that I'm not feeling stressed......
- we are only getting post a couple of times each week but I caught the postie today, poor thing was soaking wet (as was much of my post!). Mr N put the strings up so all cards are now hung round the lounge.
- got the tree and decs down from the loft. Tomorrow it can all go up, once we've moved conservatory stuff into the conservatory yippee.
- this evening we sat down and re-checked the lists, while wrapping presents. Last year in the sales, I bought some wrapping fabric in the interest of less waste and hopefully better for the environment; it's a bit of a knack getting used to it, but it feels lovely. Hopefully family will use it next year so we get it back again.
- did some drum practice.
- just downloaded a load of books on Kindle from Amaz00 Prime to read at Mum's.
Tomorrow's plan is go to Body Pump, go to uni and collect hoodie, drop in at Mr T to get some flowers (yes more); text Mr N who will then meet me at a very posh farm shop as we usually get DB and SIL some local food and make up a basket of goodies. Also want to get a small posh ham joint - the farm has lovely but pricey meat; still, we don't eat meat every day so it is a Christmas treat. Then it will be final flower arranging, tree decorating and and last wrapping. That, in theory, leaves me Thursday morning "free" to have a good vacuum and clean round before my drum lesson, Pilates and heading off down the M3.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.10 -

Morning all
Jazee I hope you are feeling a bit brighter today? My updated list is below, I have removed all that is done and added to it. Major add is that we are forecast 60mph winds tomorrow - that was enough to bring the power lines down two years ago so I will be doing power cut prep - joy.- 3 days paid stuff
- Collect laptop from repair chap
- Pay LPG bill
- Take daily meter reads for electricity - really, really need to try and reduce somehow - Power cut is an extreme way to achieve this lol....
- Decorate DS room - it has been bare plaster for far too long. I am a complete decorating novice - any tips greatly appreciated. This HAS to happen this week, it is getting me down now.
- BUY PAINT, ROLLER ETC. I thought we had it - we have nothing!
- Deep clean bathroom
- Collect C&C order on Friday
- Chop 2 remaining lengths of wood - I have done about 30, so why I am putting these off I don't know!
- Collect Christmas veg from friend on Saturday
- Lidl for milk and cheap Christmas veg
- HB to collect something for DD
- Doctor to collect inhaler
- Power cut prep - charge phones and power bank, bring in wood and coal, get washing up to date, buy more bottled water - SHOWER TODAY IN CASE THE POWER GOES WHICH MEANS NO WATER HERE!!! In capitals to make sure I do it, I'm not shouting at anyone I promise!!
Love to you all xx12 -

Morning all, some of list done. Shopping yesterday, done! Hoovering, done! Doh bathed, not on the list but as we are taking her with us on Friday and she stunk of sheep poop, done! One bathroom cleaned thoroughly, obviously the one we bathed the dog in, two to go! Some knitting sewn up.
Today I need to wrap remaining gifts. Clean two bathrooms. Water tunnel. Sort stuff for going away.
Hope your electric holds out, @Asparklierblonde, and anyone else in that area. Hugs to all, mumtoomany.xxx
