Happy Christmas Eve all. Nice day with the family but my SIL is upset with me about something that she has completely misunderstood. My BIL died in 2019 and I know she is finding Christmas hard so is probably not seeing things rationally, but that just makes it worse! DH says I just need to leave it, I texted her to try to put things right and she texted back to say it's fine. Someone give me a slap and tell me to stop mithering over it before it spoils my Christmas.
Buffet tea eaten. Veg is prepped for tomorrow, DW emptied. I have a couple of presents left to wrap.10 -

The first of our crazy days is almost over. I have sent all the outstanding e-cards and emails, wrapped the last present, been to church twice, seen some of our old toddler group families with children growing up too fast for me to keep track of, walked Rosie, cooked sausage and mash followed by another microwaved syrup sponge for tea for K, W and M (all of which went down very well), and given and received gifts to and from them. DH, Rosie and I are obviously getting old, as we breathed a sigh of relief when the noisy girls had left with K. We shall not be going to Midnight Service, but instead plan to have a relatively early night and a slow start to tomorrow morning, before going to DS1 & Co for lunch and then returning home for tea for two.
The next crazy day will be Boxing Day, when K, W and M are coming again for a roast chicken dinner with most of the trimmings, and then we have another break until Friday and the arrival en masse of the family. It's nice to spread things out a bit.
I'm now going to open all the remaining doors on my Advent calendar before it's too late - I think I last looked at it around day 12!
Here's wishing you all a lovely day tomorrow, with as much joy and as little hassle as possible xxx7 -
MinnieMousesMummy said:Morning from a very windy Scotland.
My list for today
Get dressed
Feed the animals
Paid stuff (8am-8pm)
Get more wrapping paper and some last minute bits on the way home from work.
Take the turkey out of the fridge and sit at room temperature
Take other food that needs to defrost out of the freezer
Wrap the last of the presents
Hand deliver the remaining cards
Make a list of cooking times as DH will be doing the cooking tomorrow
Do reindeer dust with the kids and put snacks out for Santa
Put presents out for the kids
Get an early night as back to work tomorrow
Think that is everything that I need to tackle today. Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas Eve,5
