pigpen said:CoG .. I would send a text saying you haven't forgotten and you will call to chat as son as you have time to give them and you're looking forward to it.. but then most people who know me don't ring because I never have time.. caring is a triple full-time job!!
nail appontment 9:45..Tesc0 collection at 11ish.. pick Dot up at 12:30.. OH is then taking DD1 to do her shopping because she ordered 6 cheesecakes and forgot to amend the order!
I am spending the afternoon wrapping and I have a Vinted parcel to package.. I will sort that now actually before it is cancelled.I don't know his mobile number PP. He does have one but it's a really old one that he hardly ever uses so I doubt it's even switched on most of the time. I didn't have the time to ring him yesterday until late evening but he goes to bed really early so there was no point in ringing then. I really will try to do it later but have a lot still to do today.Wen out early to try and get on of the cheese straws before they sold out only to find they haven't made any today. Grrr. Saw the postman just as I was driving off and he said there was a parcel for me so I stopped and put it int he boot with a couple of other bits of post he gave me. Went on and did a bit of shopping then came home. A wanted some nail scissors and some more of the cream he uses to for his skin problem. I wasn't bothered about going out again as I had had to leave the parcel in the boot so needed to get that, and a paper, anyway. Got all those things plus something else I thought about and then came home and made lunch.I'm about to wash up and then make the icing for the cake, which I marzipanned yesterday. I will then ice it, put a couple of decorations on (just a father Christmas and a Christmas tree) and then it will be all ready to cut tomorrow when we are listening to Nine Lessons and Carols from King's. I also need to do a lot of wrapping and, hopefully, ring my friend. I also need to ring another friend but there just aren't enough hours in the day are there?

CoG .. I am horrendous for not calling people back.. life just takes over and before you know it 3 months have passed lol.. Thankfully I have been the same for many years so people who matter know.
Swimming and dance done for this year.
Presents sorted for my mothers.. I just need to dig out 1 thing for DD1 and OH can drop those round and pick up Twinkles prescription.. I just went in and picked up the other 4 and checked hers and it was not ready and they said Wednesday.. I got a text no more than 5 minutes later saying her prescription was ready to pick up so I called to make sure they weren't just having me on.. nope.. it was there, ready and waiting.. the lovely pharmacist had dug through all her boxes to find gluten free bread for Twinkle.. that was very sweet.
last 2 loads in the WM.. I refuse to wash another thing until the 28th..
DD1 has decided we need bluetooth headsets so we can get n and do things and she can talk my ears off while both being busy.
I am feeling increasingly nauseous.. this means I cannot eat..
C&C have left for C2's parents... so I can load christmas bags into their room.Worktop to clearDW to reload
other sides to shimmy stuff about on.MW needs ccleaningCarpet still needs a wash.. I will get to that shortly.
Parcel to package.. it isi being collected on Wednesday.

Various bits of flying at Mum's- shopping, visiting friends as she no longer drives, helping her plan a new front path as it's not very safe for a 92yr old. Brickie came to receive updated plan this morning and approved it, we were very impressed with him so he has the go ahead to start mid Jan. It will be a relief for DB and I as Mum's current path is narrow and unlevel. We all took the bus to Bournemouth yesterday eve to see the illuminated Christmas trees in the park.
BIL likes his flower arrangement which fits nicely in his fireplace:
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.13 -
Lovely flowers Narc.I made the icing and iced the cake - it looks ok, if minimalist. By the time I'd done it it was time to make tea then ring my friend to remind her that her Waitrose order was imminent. She kept me talking on the phone and it is now gone 5 o'clock and no presents wrapped or friends rung. I've decided to go to the 6pm Mass this evening instead of tomorrow and then I can, hopefully, do all the presents and ring anyone who needs to be rung.I've received a few cards that were sent to my friend who died (I have his post redirected to me). I'd like to let the senders know he's died but none of the cards had an address on and although I have his address book it's woefully out of date. One of the cards wasn't even signed but named other people so he would have known who it was from but I don't.11

Presents dropped off and lovely natter and a laugh had with DB and DSil.
Prescription picked up.
Now cabinned in ready for a dose of Mark Harmon at 7. Not usually on on a weekend, so glad I checked the EPG. I'll be spending Christmas Eve with him too.
DSil has made me a Christmas cake and sent some home baking for myself, and for DS and DF. Nom nom.
Enjoy your evening.

Hi all
Trip out to the shops with DH and DS2 earlier, then home to light the fire and curl up with my book. DH made jambalaya and we followed that with trifle. I am now wondering if I should have some Christmas cheese.
I have managed to run the cordless hoover around, mop the kitchen floor and do some washing which is over the airer in my office.
Beautiful flowers as always Narco!
How sad that you can't let those people know your friend has died CofG, but there isn't much you can do.
Hope all is peaceful tonight for everyone x

Hope all is peaceful tonight for everyone xIt sounds as if you had a nice day.It is sad. I have an old address for one of them in Whitley Bay and the card he sent was postmarked 'Tyneside' (my friend was, before his retirement, a lecturer at Northumberland University - it was the Poly when he started). I looked in the BT online phone book but there is no one of that surname and initial listed. There is one in Gateshead, I could try ringing that number I suppose but I'm a bit reluctant to ring a number on the off-chance that it might be the correct person. It might be an elderly person who answers and be worried by a stranger ringing and asking for someone they don't know.I went to Mass, came home and made supper and now it's time to wash up. I was hoping to read a Christmas Golden Age detective novel, or at least a few short stories, during advent, but it just hasn't happened. I've hardly even listened to any Christmas music; just the odd bit when I've been in the car.9 -
My laptop won't charge, butt he cable it really very badly frayed. It's nearly out of charge so I shan't be able to use it soon. It's about 10/11 years old so hasn't done badly I suppose in today's throw-away world. I've been thinking about getting a new one but this might force my hand as I don't like using my phone for the internet or the desktop either.8
