it still baffles me how the number one retailer for clothing in this country that uses one of the top online retailers systems can get this ordering system so wrong.
It feels like they are fire fighting their way through each season, just throwing £10 or £25 vouchers at everyone who phones up. Surely its cheaper to fix their own stock control!
Looks like they didn't consult amazon on stock control management. All we can do is milk M&S everytime an item disappears from the order. At some point they will do the maths and see its cheaper to fix their stock control management rather than give every MSEr and friend a voucher.
I wonder how much their online channel contributed to the lowering in their stock shares this week. Deary me.0 -
A couple of years ago now I had the same bad experiences as a lot of you on this thread - did not have online sales orders fulfilled. I was soooo mad, I kept on and on and on - got to Director level at Head Office. I really could not believe that big M & S could get away with having this system, come on if NEXT can handle it to almost perfection, then so should M & S. I had endless telephone conversations with the Directors secretary and then spoke to "himself". Lets just say I got several bouquets of flowers and a fine set of gesture of goodwill vouchers, but I was still genuinely disappointed. They assured me they knew their online weaknesses and they were being addressed.
Last year I ordered online from the Christmas sale and was lucky enough to have everything fulfilled including a bargain tv, suede jacket etc, wow I was dead pleased and my faith fully restored! This years Crimbo sale I had to miss as I was on holiday, but it certainly sounds like although some happy endings, they does seem to be a lot of people disappointed and rightly so.
All I will say, is don't bother speaking to the customer operators who answer the phone with your complaint - they are given guidelines and "windows" of negotiation, hold your ground and insist on speaking initially to the team leader as they will be authorised to make higher offers of compensation. Ask to speak to the manager, get all names, write, email, copy all correspondence - but express your disappointment, and highlight their failures, as at the end of the day, however much we all love M & S products, they should not be allowed to keep getting away with this come every sale.0 -

I was offered £15 yesterday too. Last week I was told my christmas eve order was all ready to be dispatched, it is now all out of stock. Kiti I asked him several times about the voucher and he said when you checkout it will automatically appear and you don't need to spend the £15 all at once. I still have two outstanding sale orders from when stuff was relisted the other night, he said they were ok, but no doubt as we get to the dispatch date they will be out of stock too.
I'm going to add up how much they have cancelled and write a letter of complaint as I stayed up christmas eve especially for the sale and have recieved very little.0 -
If it works the same as Amazon, then you will see it at checkout.
"You have £x of vouchers. Do you wish to apply this to your oder?"
Tick box for yes0 -
The useless morons have just cancelled my entire order that I placed on 27th Dec. Apparently everything is "out of stock". Haha!
But I can't say it came as a great surprise to me after having read this thread.
Truly amazing that such a big brand name has been getting it so wrong for such a long time.
You wouldn't think it was an insurmountable problem, in the 21st century, to have a 'live' stock control system that actually knows if something's in stock at the time the order is placed.0 -
Reply to Melbury - my order was for 110.00 in total and got 25.00 online credit as "goodwill" gesture.
For those wondering how it works - order as usual (preferably with full price new stock as may actually receive it!!!) and when you go to checkout, it has automatically been deducted. Deducts the amount before postage stage so end up paying postage.0 -

Don't you speak a load of tosh ....
A lot of us on this thread like Marks & Spencers products and are genuinely disappointed and frustrated when our orders are not fulfilled.
If you want to go and shop elsewhere good for you, but if you honestly think boycotting M & S online will make a difference, I'm sure they are going suffer and get worried about losing your business :rolleyes:0 -

Doesn't work for me, i went right to the last page before it's final and it didn't show any deduction. I am ment to have been given £15. How come eveyones value is different they should have a standard/set amount to give.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0
