I rang them last Monday concerning an order I placed at around 11:35 on Christmas Eve. I was told that everything was out of stock and that I wouldn't be getting any of it, despite some the items going back on the site the week after the sale. I then got an email yesterday to say that my order has been dispatched. So don't give up hope yet!

Thanks for that, but after I had phoned them when I checked the site again my order had disappeared completely - obviously removed straightaway!

  • Hi There
Despite my better judgement (had previously made 2 orders on Christmas Eve night, of 18 items and only got 5!), I thought hey they really can't be that bad so I ordered 3 further sale items from them using the compensation voucher that they gave me.
Guess what? Despite the computer records saying that the items will be delievered in 2 weeks, I phoned up just to check and the items aren't in stock. Got more compensation from them. Hey maybe one day I might be actually be able to spend it.
Why is the M&S so rubbish at online sales?
They should be banned from having online sales until their system is fit for purpose!
Good luck for anyone else waiting for sales goodie

PLEASE could somebody tell me, does a £10 online credit sound fair for them cancelling my Christmas Day order which totalled £41.50? I see that some people have been given £20 and £25, is that because their orders were much bigger?

I just don't think £10 is great recompense for the time taken in doing the order in the first place, the three phone calls I have made trying to find out about the order and then them subsequently just cancelling it.

Ive had £25 in total, and my order was £46.50. I was offered £10 first, but I told them that I didnt think that was really good enough, as by the time delivery is paid, that only left £6.50, and what can you buy really from M&S with £6.50?!
Speak to a supervisor, that might get you a bit more than £10.

    Good Luck!

I was offered a £10 on-line credit after my entire ( £80 ish) order 'disappeared' bit by bit in the summer 'sale' fiasco. Apparently, 10% of your total order is the starting point, so £10 is a bit better than £4.10p.

I told them politely that I was not going to use their on-line service again, expalined 'why' in detail and asked for 'real' vouchers. They posted £25 to me.

I have just been on the phone to M&S trying to find out if I am actually going to get my order which was placed on Christmas Day. Apparently I am not going to get it, they just haven't got around to telling everyone who placed orders yet.

May I ask how much your order was for, as they have said they will give me £10 online credit as an apology, which I think is a bit tight. I told them I thought their customer service in relation to the Christmas sale was absolutely disgusting for a firm such as M&S.

    Many thanks.

My order was £34, and I sent a letter of complaint after my original telephone complaint.

So do you think it is worth me chasing this up and trying to get a bit more, I am just totally fed up with them and the time I have wasted on the whole thing.

  • well update on my order the whole lot has now been cancelled i can't believe it, when i rang only on thurs and the man told me all was in stock i am soooooooooo mad rang up again was told yes all out of stock now and that it's first come first serve. Was given £15 e-voucher told her not to bother as i won't shop on-line again thinking she may give me paper vouchers but she just said she will do it anyway. I will just have to use this as a lesson well and truely learnt and smile at the thought that it's less money for them any way. no bargain is worth all this time, money effort and hassle.

  • Hello Melbury and co
I made 2 orders of over £60 on Chriostmas Eve and very early Christmas day morning. Only got 5 out of 18 items in the end and got compenstated £10. I then used the compensation to buy further sale items and then this order got cancelled too. I got £5 compensation.
I don't think this is particularly fair but I'd rather have M&S grovelling on Watchdog for their RUBBISH service!

if an order is cancelled that included voucher credit, I assume you do get it back?
