Welcome to the weekly Flylady Thread. You're more than welcome to join us in the everlasting battle against dust, grime and gibble. The aim of our thread is to make those onerous tasks less daunting, and to support each other - and to make time for the finer things in life!
Please do remember we have to abide by MSE rules; each post should, ideally, include some mention of flying.
Thanks to Valli for last week’s thread.
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up
Please follow the forum rules on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us. All posts should have some Flylady-related (ooh a compound adjective) content!
The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!
Every room comes back around next week so please don't stress about catching up
These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!
MAD half hour- Mad is the abbreviation for Make A Difference.
The idea is that you have a Forth bridge (ie never-ending - or just huge) task but that you work on it in half-hour bursts. This way you know you ARE stooping, and that you won't get it finished but you will make a difference - so it might be clearing out - the garage or shed, or clothes sorting, or weeding - you get the picture - but rather than keep going until you've lost the will to live you do half an hour...but, eventually those half hours will get the job done!
Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

A busy week ahead pigpen. Sending positive, energy-giving, vibes. After lunch I washed up and then and then did something but can't remember what. Made tea and a pikelet for A and a coffee for myself, returned a call from my brother. Took a call from a friend. She lives in a fancy retirement complex and asked us a few weeks ago if we would to go to her on Christmas Day to have lunch in the restaurant as she cant go to her daughters. We agreed but today she told us how much the meal is going to cost and I was a bit taken aback as I could have done us a very nice meal for a quarter of the cost. We're committed though.Received a WhatsApp from A's niece, who lives in Norwich, asking if she could meet us on Tuesday evening as she is going to be in London for a couple of days. She then rang so we suggested that she came here as neither A nor I want to go out for a meal as A's poor mobility makes it difficult and complicated. We've got A's cousin coming the next day for lunch but at least I can make one lot of flying cover two visits, thus getting more bang for my flying buck.Made supper and washed up, administered eye medication x 3 and will go to bed soon. I'm having a clean and polish at the dentist tomorrow morning.12

Morning all
Thank you for the lists ladies xxx
I am in this week. I am away Wednesday/Thursday with work, but will be flying around that. So far this morning I have DUPA and set the WM going. Also cleaned out the lamb roasting tin that had been soaking overnight, and checked online banking.
8 more school days for DD, 7 for DS. I am really looking forward to them breaking up and us all having a rest over Christmas.Pheasant pie for tea tonight. Will pop back on later, have fab days all xx12 -
I'm in again. Didn't manage much posting last week and this week will be the same but I'll folliow along.
Hope everyone has a good week xx11 -
Morning all. Hope you're well today.
I'm off out with family today but will try to do some flying this morning. Check banking first.
Have a great day everyone.
Spend less now, work less later.11 -
Morning all xx
Thank you for the thread and here we go again.....I wonder what delights this week will bring.
I've been awake for ages but now I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds and I'm supping my brew.
I'm meeting L for brunch at the posh farm shop cafe at 9.45.(Christmas and Birthday presents and cards are ready to take with me. DO NOT FORGET!). From there I'm going to visit P & S - which promises to be a tough call as P is waiting for heart surgery and is very depressed. Then home via the PO (pay rent) and a couple of card drops through letter boxes.
A brief pit stop chez moi then I'll visit Mr Al with a card drop on my way home.
Put the groceries away and drop off cards for the neighbours.
And,at some point, during the day, I'll:
Feed the birds
Put out the recycling
DUPA yesterday's pots that were WULTD
Laundry shuffle
Put away the airer
Oh, and I suppose I should get dressed at some point. Possibly first? Good idea.
Have a good day my lovelies

Morning all
Thank you for the thread x. Enjoying my last couple of days of annual leave this week, so I’m waving frantically at Round on her day off too 👋. Today I am off to the uni city to see DD for the day, DH is dropping me at the station in a bit, then running a few errands. Judging by the speed that he errands (now officially a verb!), he may or may not be done by the time that he needs to pick me up again.
In the WAC a lot last night, worrying about having 3 days off - obviously. So much to do at work, financial year end fast approaching…you get the gist. But they won’t pay me, I can’t carry them over, so I need to get over it.
Flying may, just may, actually happen at some points this week. The towels are in the wm, bathrooms were cleaned yesterday, and operation wrapping has started - not that there is a lot to wrap this year.
Round - maybe mix it up a bit, get daring, get dressed after your trip to Mr Al. That’ll get the neighbours something to talk about today 🤣
Have a lovely day all x11 -
Morning all, It is a dry but cold start to the day here.
My list for today
Get dressed
Feed the animals
Catch up with exam revision from the weekend
Do the exam revision that is on the schedule for today.
Declutter 100 emails from inbox
Do paid stuff
Write Xmas cards that need to be posted
Wrap Xmas presents that need to be posted
Trip to the post office to post Xmas stuff
Do some festive shopping
Go to Mr A and collect the online order.
Clean the sink, toilet, and shower
Phone the garage regarding booking my car in, as unfortunately looks like a repair is required.
Think that is everything that I need to tackle today. Hope everyone has a lovely Monday.

Morning all
Not been awake long so i’m having my vertical half hour.
Weather forecast for a mostly dry day so i’m pegging out laundry later…bedding, so hopefully it will at least ‘lighten’.
Meeting former colleagues for lunch at a GC later.
I fully intend to fly this week. I also need to sit down and plan xmas.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
