Im worried about Virgin though, my fiance is 6'8 and he cant fit into their economy seats, i explained this to the lady i spoke to last night from Maxjet and she said thats all they are offering at the moment. Im hoping Virgin will upgrade us or he is in for a VERY uncomfortable flight!!Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Panda - get there early and you may be able to upgrade to the emergency exit row or $100 or so each.....they go early though.illegitimi non carborundum0

Panda, did the transition to another hotel go OK? Which one did they put you in.
As for the upgrade, they won't do that, trying to get an upgrade out of Virgin is almost impossible without paying. First, there has to be overbooking in your class, where they need to bump pax up. Then it goes on what colour your flying club card is, golds first, then silvers, etc.
Check in opens at 10am, get there quick, assaid before you can purchase the exit seats, but if you have the middle and window seat that one is free, so you sit together and only pay for one.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
Good on Silverjet.
I know it is in part a PR exercise for them, but when we see all the other airlines doing nothing to help, and giving those having to rebook no discounts, I do think that they deserve some credit for their efforts xThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. Can anyone confirm that Eos are definitely taking people from New York, I am currently in New York and everytime I get through to Maxjet they just bluff me off saying I am not flying until 3rd Jan and will not contact me until 1st Jan at earliest with my new flight arrangements?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.0 -
Stoneman- the call for the hotel didnt come! Luckily we used priceline and got an ok hotel near the airport for $150. If anyone else is stuck try the Double Trees by the airport, its cheap and handy, about a $20 cab ride from mid-strip.
Bertie - I would make your own provisional arrangements, Maxjet are being VERY unreliable at the moment. I know Contenental were going to take us on stand-by for the $100 fee, US airways and AA are also offering this. Apparently there is a law in the US that if pax are stranded airlines have to offer a $100 stand-by service, although dont quote me on that, its just what i over heard in the airport.Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Stoneman - im going to try and use our Virgin flying points for an upgrade, the website states that its 20,000 for a round trip, so by my powers of deduction i would imagne we could upgrade to PE for 10,00.
Fingers crossed.....Undefeated Wii Fit ski jump champion!

Bertie, I spoke to EOS direct and they are taking MAXjet customers. If you ring them after 5pm Eastern time, they have a list of the pax that have been booked in for the next day. Could be a blessing, they are a top notch opperation, 48 seats per plane, lie flat beds, etc.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. That sucks about the hotel, not cheap for the room though, just another expence to chalk up. one way upgrade is 15,000 points. Good luck, bet you will be glad to get home, not what you want to remember a trip to Vegas for, but hey, you survived a real life airline going bust.

Hello everyone....first post!!!!!
I booked Maxjet a week before they went bust for travel in October - a mate of mine on the same flight has had confirmation from them via e-mail that they've gone bust but bizarrely I haven't.
My credit car company says they need this "proof" (despite the confirmation of bankruptcy displayed on their web site). Maxjet's phone number is just an answerphone message...anyone got any ideas?0 -
Just got back from Vegas to Gatwick for free with Virgin, although it was in economy. I believe Virgin are already expecting passengers if you just turn up, but there's two very helpful Maxjet guys who can be found at the airport (although they're not actually being paid, so be nice).
I bought my tickets with a credit card - anyone know if it's possible to get any sort of rebate?
Happy New Year!0
