Not necessarily, you have to contact the supplier too. They can still take payment from a cancelled card.0 -

Yeah, just found that out from bank!
Have spoken to setanta - again- and told them of my intent to cancel - have told them that if take any further payments from the card after this months then I will issue fraud dispute with Visa - my bank have told me to do this as funnily enough they have had a few problems with this company!0 -
Here is my ongoing Setanta saga...................
On 1st May I telephoned and gave 30 days notice to cancel my subscription. The same day I also sent an email requesting the same and got an auto reply.
My service is still active.
I phoned on 10th June and was told I could now ONLY cancel by writing to head office. I asked why I was not told this on the 1st May and was then told that they were accepting telephone cancellations on that date, but they are not now!
They have a record of my telephone call on 1st May giving 30 days notice and my email sent the same day, yet I still have to write in, that is beyond belief.
I asked to speak to a supervisor and spoke to one (I do have his name) at Sunderland, who was not willing to listen to what I was saying. I asked for it to be escalated to the next level and he refused to do so, I asked for it to be passed to his manager and he refused, I asked for his managers name and he refused. I asked for someone to take personal ownership to get this sorted for me but his only response was an automated ‘you have to write in’. I work in complaints management within a major company and the level of customer service I received from him was appauling.
I do not want any special offers, I cancelled as my shifts have changed at work and I now work evenings and Saturdays so would miss the live Premiership games which is the only reason I subscribed in the first place.
I have now written to head office, sent recorded delivery which they signed for on 12th June. I have asked them to cancel my subscription immediately and refund any charges taken after 30th May which was the end of my 30 days notice period. I have also asked for a goodwill payment to cover the numerous telephone calls and the cost of posting the recorded delivery letter.
12 days after the letter, no reply and Setanta still active, unfortunately my recurring payment is on my credit card and thus I am unable to stop it.
Isn't it about time this fiasco stops for all of us???0 -
Refer to posts 293 and 294 and get Dom on the case. He'll sort it out for you. He always does!0

I also subscribed via my Lloyds/TSB credit card but found that when i rung my cc company they were willing to cancel my present card, featuring the recurring payment to Setanta, & send me a new one that didn't. The lady at the cc company said that this would work.
I cancelled my card anyway & now use my Halifax cc exclusively.
A general thought about this entire fiasco is that as football consumers we have been shafted not just by Setanta but by the Football Association as well. When the ruling was announced that the monopoly that Sky had on premiership football would have to be ended many people foolishly thought that some football games may have ended up on the BBC or channel 5- free football in other words- & those organizations were definately interested in showing some of the packages of games that were up for sale by the FA. But as usual the FA sold out to the highest bidder, Setanta who as we know are not even a UK company, & they got the lot apart from Sky who got a couple of packages.
Of course not everyone subscribes to Setanta for premiership football alone but most people probably do.
I wonder if it would be worth it to bombard that bunch of greedy cretins that run the FA with emails..?0 -

The managing director for setanta is Roger Hall, so following the same email format, I would guess his email address is roger.hall@setanta.com
Good luck!
SORTED!!!!
Following my post a couple above, after a bit of googling Setanta Chief Executives I sent multiple emails last night to the following Setanta email addresses, and to the ones above:-
leonard.ryan@setanta.com
Michael.ORourke@setanta.com
michael.bucks@setanta.com
roger.hall@setanta.com
matthew.kemp@setanta.com
I also filled out the online 'contact us' form again.
This morning just had a phonecall from Kirsty at Setanta saying that they had got my email and apologised and has now cancelled, refunded this months subscription and added £10 goodwill.
So, not sure which email address did the trick but good luck!!!!0 -
Just got off the phone to them again. Am I right or wrong in believing that as a result of them changing the terms and conditions I can cancel without having to give 30 days notice?
I am sure I'm able to do that. The woman on the phone just kept repeating to me that it states in the terms and conditions that I have to give 30 days notice blah blah.
I'll have to try emailing those people above. I cancelled my DD last month and still they haven't switched the feed off.0
