In my view, notices of cancellation due to a detrimental change to the terms & conditions require one month's written notice, because the "old" terms & conditions said:8. Ending the Contract
.......
(a) If we reduce or vary significantly the total amount of programmes available on the Channels within, or the level of service of, your chosen Option, or change the terms and conditions to your detriment, you may end this Contract by giving us a minimum of one month’s written notice within 30 days of the change in programmes or level of service or terms and conditions as applicable. .................
Did you contact Setanta before cancelling your direct debit, last month? :question:0 -
OK OK OK OK, everyone is right, I phoned today to confirm the cut off date and the guy said that the account is still active and that when we phoned it was NOT cancelled only given the address to write. What a surprise! So I am now off to the post office...0

I have just come off the phone I rang the 091 number and got through after 1 ring, I got the address and also my account number which I thought I had lost. I am now going to send a letter Registered post and I will call again in a day or two to check that they have recieved my letter. I will also cancel my DD after the next payment has been taken. I have told them this in the letter and I also asked them to confirm receipt of my letter

Two and a half weeks and my registered post letter still isn't coming up as delivered. Has anyone else had this experience and does anyone know how to get through to Royal Mail quickly?*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0

I would not bother phoning them up. I just sent a very simple one sentence letter by recorded delivery to their Fife address and cancelled my direct debit via my online banking. Within a week my satellite signal was cut off and I never heard from them again.0

Still no sign of my registered post letter being delivered. So I've now sent a letter special delivery to get there by 1pm Monday. Hopefully that should mean I've only got one more monthly payment to give these greedy b*****ds.*removed by forumteam - please do not advertise in signatures*0 -
Setanta are really driving me nuts atm
I took the offer of 3 months for £5 in Oct and canceled in Dec but was offered another 3 months for £5 which i took.
Then in March they offered another 3 months for £5 which i took aswell. I have names and dates of everyone i have spoken to.
I then checked my statements 2 months later and noticed a payment of £9.99 going out for setanta so i check the months before and that was also for £9.99 (april and may). I phoned up and they told me to write in and get a refund.
Today i got a phonecall (answer machine) saying my claim has been rejected as there is no proof someone offered me the £5 deal. I've phoned them up and no one knows what i'm on about and keep telling me to write in again.

Setanta took 10 weeks to acknowledge my cancellation letter, and repeatedly demanded I re-instate the direct debit and make an "outstanding payment", that they weren't entitled to.
10 days on, and they rang again to pursue an "outstanding payment"- at which point the customer service representative conceded that there wasn't an outstanding debt on the account!0
