No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Slow recovery is good, allows your body to adjust.

Yesterday I ended up distraught - caught in a bureaucracy doom loop. My original GP can't help me as I'm across the border. My potential new GP refuses to help me until I'm registered - but said that can take 2 weeks and I need to provide proof of ID and go in person. I explained about being on morphine etc - their response was contact out of hours or ask the ward for more meds. I did a meds count - and its my least important med - anti-sickness that I'm likely to be short of... Morphine and my long term meds I have enough to take me a while longer yet.
I get really upset at the best of times when I lose stuff - but I knew where my driving licence was pre-hospital but gave it others to look after and it seems to have gone walk about. I've not seen my passport post move - but can tell you where my previous 2 passports are as I found them!! So frustrating!
I've been catching up on my washing - including some re-washing where I hadn't had a dryer and it had dried too stiff. The stuff I put on the rotary airer around a week or so ago - is still there. Need to try and get that down today. My new dryer is a lot quieter than my old one which is a huge win.
Yesterday I cooked myself an SW style roast chicken dinner. Super tasty and lots leftover. My stomach felt a bit crampy initially but soon settled down. Hopefully my eating / ability to tolerate foods is improving again.
The handyman is due today - but is late due to an issue with his dogs... Hope he still comes.
My pain levels seem better today - not taken morphine since just after midnight. Will see how I go on.
Work sent me a white themed planted basket which was nice.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

That was nice of work. I presume you’ve asked the people who took your license where it is? I know this sounds daft but try not to think about it and hopefully it will pop into your head where it is.Have you contacted the wards out of hours to get that ball rolling? Small steps SH

It does sound as though things are gradually getting better - do remember that you are being prescribed the morphine for good reason though - they are incredibly mindful of doses on opiates these days so they will already be being cautious with the dosing levels I suspect. If you are in pain, there may be more positives to reducing that pain than simply making you more comfortable as well, although I also realise you want to balance the amount of time you spend in that fogged state as well! It's a balance!
Don't fret about the license too much - had you already done the change of address on it, or not? If not then you can apply for your change of address online as long as you have a passport I think, that's how I did mine.
If you need a proof of new address for your GP registration then if they haven't already done so ask your solicitor to send you a confirmation of completion letter in the mail - then you can use that. My Mr Boss always does that for folk so they have something "official" with the new address on it almost from day 1.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Hope the hospital can help with the meds, and that you find your driving licence and passport soon.

I have asked family and the handyman re the licence but no joy yet. I've had an up and down week so far. Was quite upset Monday as couldn't get anywhere with doctors - particularly with ID being missing. Yesterday though I had a better pain day - but did very little - and halved the morphine. I have enough morphine until at least Monday - and enough longer term meds so think it is a lower priority than it felt on Monday.
Today the handyman is here so he's fitting lights etc currently which is nice. He's also tested and made safe my upstairs sockets - which included 2 hanging off the walls!! Hopefully he will come Thursday and Friday too.
I'm going to go and get the stuff off the line outside and then go back to trying to find my ID.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
