Thanks Jwil, KK and Lucielle
I think the antibiotics are starting to kick in - my fever was lower today. I managed a shower today and remembered to moisturise too. The wet room was slow to drain - so panicked at one point but resolved eventually. I effectively used the towels to clean the floor. I've put a load of washing on but later will need to add towels and bedding to another load. Definitely think I under-estimated my water use and should change it with the provider.
Handyman dropped in to take some measurements and drop off paracetamol for me but he's not available to work today so will be back next week. He's not invoiced me yet for this week.
I got paid today - so £450 went into AVCs.
I've chased up my flooring refund which is still outstanding. I cancelled on 5/3 so really frustrated the £3.1K is not yet back on my CC. Even when it lands - I'm going to need to request a refund from the CC as I had to pay the bill in between as they've taken so long to refund.
Eating is still a struggle. Managed a third of a bowl of porridge. 1/4 of angel D pudding - with 2 strawberries. Currently defrosting some veg soup as can potentially have that - may add a little chicken to it.
Grateful I qualify for full sick pay.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Good job you managed to get all the medication - so important that you are taking all that's been prescribed.
angelD and strawberries sounds lush and possibly a bit healthy with milk and fruit. Don't know what else is in it but that's the ingredients that create the delight. I've just checked and I've got a sachet in the cupboard but sadly no strawberries. Butterscotch flavour with a sliced banana for me later after I've braved MrBC's vindaloo curry concoction.3 -

I agree re the shower outlet. Mine is clogged regularly with my sons hair. I brush mine before so not so much of that. When I was recovering from my op I let it slide & I thought the water was going to lap over the edge of the shower. Cleaning that was not a lot of fun. Never again is it going that bad.

Thanks at BC, BM and Beanie
Not a nice job on the shower outlet - as only recently mine - but needs must I suppose. I may try some drain unclogger first! It did clear earlier it was just slow.
The flooring company claim that my refund is now on its way.
I've emptied the tank on my new dryer for the first time. I wasn't expecting it to be so big. Initially I kept taking the filter out and emptying that - not realising that there was a tank underneath it! Doh!
Ate a bit more today - closer to 1200 calories than the 600 or so when I first left hospital. I've rejoined MFP so I can track what I'm eating and how it makes me feel. I'm learning that I can't have porridge for breakfast any more - or not during this period anyway. I need something less dense like bread and banana or smoothie or both. I ate a CG veg soup from the freezer today at lunchtime - and have ordered more. I thought I might not be allowed to have it - but it is low fat. I have a food delivery coming tomorrow - and then I'm hoping to do some small bowls of overnight oats SW style and see if I can eat them. I'm also hoping to try chicken fajitas and see if I can eat that. I just need a bit more variety. I may divide the fajita in two though to avoid wasting any. I'm finding I can eat tiny portions of stuff - just not much all at once.
I sent the handyman home with two tubs of ice cream and pain au chocolat so they wouldn't keep staring temptingly at me. I don't need the literal associated pain of eating them.
BC - hope you enjoy your butterscotch flavour pud too - that one has been a life saver for me - as on the days I'm struggling to eat - that easily slips down. I'm dividing a pack into 4 portions which helps me not feel over-faced. Not a problem I ever remember having before!! The strawberries definitely give it a sense of luxury - which is good as most puddings seem to be banned for me currently!
A family member sent me a potted orchid today which was a nice surprise. DD rang and will hopefully come and see me at some point over the weekend. A sis may also come but stay elsewhere overnight. A friend that was due to see me Monday has been struck down with a tummy bug... The thought was there. I said to DD I wanted to escape the 4 walls as much as anything else but probably couldn't walk far currently. Hopefully she'll come and take me to The Rng3 and then I can get a few things it's hard / not cost effective to buy online.
Apparently I was marked as routine for my MRI so could be 6-8 weeks away from when it was first booked. So I'm 2 weeks into that. I am going to ring the cashback plan I have on Monday and find out what they need for me to have a private MRI and then look at booking one. Then it would answer the question of whether or not I need an operation / whether there is something that needs fixing - and if so what. They weren't entirely sure and kept contradicting themselves when I was in hospital about whether or not they'd operate. I still need to lose 2st12 before they can operate though (unless an emergency). I am terrified of ever experiencing that level of pain again however - and if I wasn't overweight - they'd ideally operate within 2 weeks of the 'flare up'.
The local hospital is featuring in the press as at capacity - so I also want to investigate options to go elsewhere as I don't want such a negative experience again! When I went in there - a youngish man was put on the dementia ward as it was the only available bed - and lots of people waiting to be admitted were waiting 20 hours or more. The newspapers are reporting that ambulances are waiting 24 hours to be able to discharge their patients into A&E. Crazy times. How any government thinks this is acceptable I'll never know.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Immediately prior to going into hospital I was debating what size my EF needed to be. By the end of next week I will have used up at least 1 month of my 6 months full sick pay. If I end up needing an operation - depending whether it was open or key hole I could use up a further 2 months. While my heart wants to increase my AVCs - my head is suggesting saving - although until / unless I commit to building works I still have my post move savings pots. I'm even debating whether to pay for my surgery privately rather than risk such a negative experience again next time. I don't need to make that decision yet - and it would depend what the MRI showed. Lots to ponder.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just catching up again…so sorry to read that you have been unwell. Wishing you a speedy recovery. What a blessing the handyman has been able to both sort out jobs on your list and get supplies when you have needed them. Hope the birdwatching has brought you joy.
