Bananas & custard - firing the oh I could just eat that bell. School dinners best desert ever. Which no-one else liked. We had tables of 8 & an agreement. If I ate all 8 portions of bananas & custard one of the other seven, I didn't care which, would eat my sago, tapioca, semolina or rice pudding

You should have seen those plates pass round the table. They had it down to a fine art so no one in charge actually noticed.

Thank you Beanie. I am feeling a little pleased with myself at the moment. I worry, as you do, about getting not just older but less able mentally. On Saturday I found the Guardians wordiply. I already do about 15 online puzzles a day but I thought why not. So I did the try out, not too great, obviously didn't turn my brain on. Then I did the real thing & got smartypants, which is a longer word than they had. So for fun I did todays. Would you believe I got smartypants AGAIN. A 15 letter word when they had 12 letters. I think they have a problem because I may be good but not that good.So SH if you are bored with having to rest which you really must do then how is that for a challenge!4

While you want a little food variety, have staple items / smaller portions ready to eat and only try to introduce an extra one or two things per week.
How much is a private MRI as it's the key to what happens over the next few months.
Sounds like you're pottering which is good and I agree with others about saving over AVC's.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.4 -
Thanks Beanie, BM, Spice, MF
I do like bananas and custard but have no bananas untill my order comes later. It's taken me all morning to eat a 1/4 of angel delight (100 cals) and 3 strawberries. I've added some jelly sweets to that.
Even when I try a single slice of bread and banana I can often only eat half.
In better news my pain improved yesterday and is better today so far. My sister is coming today so should escape the house for a bit.
The handyman has put a couple more mirrors and art shelves up and the space is transforming. He's ordered my new banister and spindles and bathroom locks. Things are coming together on the house.
I can get a private MRI for free through work but I need the secretary to answer the phone so I can get a copy of the request and check eligibility with the cashback place.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Belatedly catching up and delurking to say congratulations on settling into your new house and gradually making it yours (and finding another good handyman so quickly) - but so sorry about the recent health issues! The pain sounds horrible - thank goodness it seems to be improving.
Very good news that you can get a private MRI for free.
I could really eat some bananas and custard right nowwhat a great and under-rated dessert! I'm also a big fan of Angel Delight...
So glad you have the view to enjoy, especially while having to rest more than usual and spending a lot of time at home. (After 2.5 years in our current house, I still appreciate my view every day - it is priceless to me and makes me a lot more tolerant of all the stuff that needs sorting in the house!)4
