savingholmes saidPotential work for the handyman (£25 p/hr) & or others
- Change locks on front and back doors - complete ✅
- Fit video doorbell - ✅ and help me get it set up (instructions have gone missing)
- Put electrics through into utility and garage and add a light to the understairs cupboard - He's added a temp pull light in utility. He thinks my electric safety certificate was falsified.
- Fit 3 external lights (2 existing points, 1 new). He's done 2 of 3
- Fit new lights for garage, hall, lounge, utility - lounge and hall but he accidentally put wrong one up in the hall... So will change at some point. He's changed the new lounge one I didn't like in practice to one I love.
- See if sliding patio door fixable - if it is replace blown glass, door lock etc. If it's not talk through options. - Likely to replace. Part of potential bigger job to include the garage.
- See if tumble dryer fixable - it isn't. Still need to choose replacement.
- Fit new blind to work from home space and landing. Hopefully tomorrow
- Hang a very high picture in the stair well. Hopefully 🍀 tomorrow
- Move triple wardrobe combo from my WFH space into my bedroom and move 6 drawer unit into bedroom 2 for now - Done ✅. Works so much better but was black mould on back of wardrobes and the wall! He's sprayed it and we're hoping now the external work is done that it won't reoccur.
- Fix the utility floor - will get garage conversion quote.
- Ideally advise on & the fit new stair rail (so one on both sides) and make existing one safe (it wobbles!) - unresolved.
- Ideally fit extra spindles to the stair balustrade so it's compliant - hopefully tomorrow
- Fit some grab bars -Done. Considering whether I need any for the wet room.
- Advise me on mirrors - and what different walls could cope with - then hang existing &/or combination of new ones
- Change the tubular catch on a few doors - to stop them being able to be pushed open by the cat. ✅
- Possible canopy by front door (c£90 on Am****). Unresolved.
- Possibly extend canopy to the side and back of the house. Can't at side due to boiler ventilation.
- See if can fit castors to some of my existing furniture to make it easier to move around (return what don't need to Am****) - unresolved.
- Fit hose pipe holder. Perhaps tomorrow.
- Fit rotary washing line. ✅
- Depending on flooring decision - could remove hallway flooring - and temporarily fit carpet from the garage that matches the stairs. Unresolved. I may need to buy a little underlay unresolved.
Possible plumbing & related joinery / plastering / tiling work- Review pipework - could the washing machine be moved back to the kitchen area so that the part garage conversion can be freed up as an art space / other? Yes. If the old pipework was tidied up - would there be room for the tumble dryer near the back door Yes........

Thanks Skint, Beanie and Humdinger
I'm as weak as a 🐈 I'd fail any straight line walking test. I currently have chairs in lots of random places. I am 98% resting, my body gives no other choice. I'd written and gone through job list pre illness though so he's cracked on where possible.

Glad some of the jobs are being done and you have people around you. Sounds like you've found another good handyman.
That's shocking about the electric certificate though!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Thanks Jwil. Yes he is but he has an interview next week so may need to find someone else.

Glad to hear you're home and have rest points dotted about. Kitty will keep an eye on you, they're good like that.
I cannot believe you're even mentioning the to do list. Please let the handyman get on with what he can and the rest will wait until you're better. Honestly your health is more important!
