So glad you're on the mend @savingholmes. I hope it's OK if I paste in an entry from my diaryHumdinger1 said:Happy New Year everyone! It's been a bit of a roller-coaster here. DD has been ill and -mercifully- an MRI scan has ruled out a mass on her brain which one junior doc mentioned as a possibility, her ears/balance are still under investigation. She has an appointment in a week or so with a consultant to talk through the diagnosis. She has decided to restart Year 2 of uni in September 24 and we are in the thick of sorting that out. She has said that she doesn't want to drop out, transfer elsewhere or do a different course (acting degree) but does want to move year as it has been a toxic experience with people in her current year and has numerous friends in the year below. I'm so relieved about her diagnosis so far but am anxious about what comes next. She has accommodation set up for the next academic year. Her happiness and health come first and we've had a couple of conversations already about this being an opportunity for a structured reset, not a dropping out and retreating to teenage behaviour. I think it's going to take time for me to process and there will be times of anxiety along the way. Thanks to everyone reading love Humdinger xx2

Thanks Lucielle and Merlin - my counsellor would be proud - I normally try to work through illness - but not this time. It will be back to earth with a bump Monday though.
Annoyingly wide awake...
Things to measure and list on FBMP- Old sofa
- Surf boards
- Merchant / spice type chest of drawers (needs emptying first)
- Random things from the shed?
- Dresser? Need to check what listed on property form.
- Chest of drawers in DD's room (drawers too shallow for me - it's about 30 years old!!)

Thanks Jwil - my sleep was terrible. I had a really bad night of being wide awake until about 8am after which I dozed until around 1pm. I worked out part of the issue could have been hunger so I ate around 6am. It's took me all week but I finally found my thermometer! I still have a slight fever and have kept my heating on as even with an extra hoodie I've felt cold. I managed to label a few drawers today but that's it. I ended up tearful and scared in the night over my breathing - and started panicking over all the what ifs of various diagnosis that could befall me etc which didn't help. In the light of day - I was more able to hold on to my blood pressure is fine, my weight is falling, my sugar levels are not in the danger range. I've lost a stone since July... I'm already trying to improve my health and weight.
The air purifier came but not impressed so far so may return. it seems to produce an odd stale smell so not convinced on how helpful that is as I find the new smell unpleasant.
I realised today I had effectively missed DS's birthday as I felt so ill. I gave him a card and gifts to take with him while he was here and sent him money and messaged him on the day - but we didn't speak as I basically went to bed instead...
I nipped to MnS today to try and help with the eating regularly thing (while ill). I've bought a load of prepared food which should help. I got some YS salad which I had with jacket spud and prawn cocktail (part of a meal deal) which made a lovely change. I have bought a load of mash, roasting veg and carrot and swede crush that I can potentially have with the chicken I bought earlier in the week. That should help me through quite a few meals. I also got a fruit compote which will slide down nicely when my throat is raw from coughing.I also managed to get some YS chicken and put it in the freezer the other day - it all helps. I need to go back to trying to 'eat down' the freezer though now Xmas is over.
My counsellor recommended a while ago that I check out any local courses that would be interesting - and there are some which seems promising although it is unclear whether the courses will be free or charged for (once I've moved). If charged for - they are a lot dearer than the 6th form I go to an evening class at - but could be better quality. Only time will tell. The location is due to be within a couple of miles of my new home though which if anything is closer than the one I go to now. There's even one on writing and illustrating kids books which I'm tempted to try and get on to as it doesn't start for a few weeks yet. They aren't very descriptive of when the course is held though or how many hours or anything useful like that - just it's overall duration in weeks. I haven't got the energy to follow up on that yet but it does offer hope of something decent. Even if it was held during the day I could probably do a deal with my boss to make up the time...

Hope you had a better night last night. The middle of the night is always worst for worrying. I can totally relate to the whole avoiding the docs due to being told everything is due to weight. If your breathing concerns you regularly though, it might be worth a visit, as there might be something to help ease it.
The courses sound like they have good potential!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee3 -
Oh I so relate to the total loss of perspective in the wee small hours - the animal brain runs wild whilst the logic brain is trying desperately to sleep or be left alone! 😉
Hugs. It is proper horrid. I’m glad you regained your perspective once awake and I like your strategies for food whilst ill.FWIW, I would give up on doing anything house related atm, until you are well enough to do things again. You will battle and fight and stress and burn up energy you need for fighting the bug, about doing things, achieving a few small things, that actually you will whizz through in 5 minutes once you are well. Just give yourself permission to shut down for a bit, focus on you and get yourself well.
Wafting every get well vibe possible your way.

Definitely put everything else on the backburner - doing anything when you're tired and ill won't go easily and you might not make the same decisions that you would when you're well.
