Hope you're feeling better soon, but agree that whilst it lasts you need to think about taking time off work to give yourself a chance of getting better. It seems it's when you don't take enough time/rest that the longer lasting illness kicks in. (((hugs))) X

Thanks Crystal. I appreciate your vote. I have taken the day off sick. Texted boss but no response yet so she may not have seen it. Also texted cleaner - but she may not have seen it yet either. Will ring GP as soon as they open as my breathing was crackling in the night. Of course right now I've displaced my thermometer, oximeter etc although I saw them at some point over the Xmas break. I have a designated place for it (and have two thermometers) but I still forget to put them back there!
I've taken @Baileys_Babe 's suggestion and covered the sofa frame in the lounge with some of my old blankets so that if they are the issue - it should reduce it. The seat cushions themselves were already in a different room. I wonder whether because I bought it from a seconds / assembled display area it got much dustier than if I'd bought if flat packed. My house feels too cold currently to open a window but later I may do that and see if there's anything I can use to spray the lounge down with water so that if it is dust it reduces the impact. It may well be allergies as I'm allergic to strong smells and dust and pollen etc - I'm almost hoping it is - in the hope that I will then get well quicker. I'm wondering if I should try and return it... don't know where I stand legally with buying ex-display / seconds items and refunds.
I want fizzy drinks and crisps and possibly ice cream. My throat isn't happy from all the coughing. I'm on my last bottle of fizzy grape juice so if the cleaner doesn't come may also need to nip out and buy some supplies which never looks good if you are off sick but not much choice when you live alone. I might also get chippy chips at lunchtime as the grease will be nice.

Happy New Year, @savingholmes. I am another one who would recommend using a removal company, and their packing service. As a lone person who works full time it just saved me so much time and hassle. Unpacking is enough work on its own!
No words of advice on whether you should go for the new house or not - but is sounds like you have been given some sounds advice on the house moving board and from your sister.
Regarding the old sofa, I would list in on Marketplace. Worst that happens is it doesn't go. I gave an old knackered one I gave away on Freecycle once that they just wanted for a dog bed. And no need to be embarrassed about its condition - what does it matter? Either someone wants it for free in which case they will thank you, or people don't it which case they won't be thinking twice about it.Live the good life where you have been planted.

Thanks Flaco, TG, Jwil and Elisheba
Well GP could hear crackle on one side so has given me antibiotics. Also have a slight fever. I went and got antibiotics and food and drink. Now gone to bed with electric throw.
Thanks for the Sofa advice but it will need to wait a while longer. Cleaner chose not to risk reinfection so no help for now.
Really hope I manage to doze. I was dozing sitting up when waiting for GP who was running an hour late. I've had some hot rotisserie chicken and fries and a little yoghurt and ice cream.
Hope you are having a better start to the yearAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
