Glad you settling in - the swing chair sounds great !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Thanks MF and LWAP
Running very late today. I haven't got to sleep until around 2am two nights running. I went to pick up my prescription that I requested a week ago but it wasn't ready yesterday.
I picked up a couple of swim suits, a few tops, a cami and a red bra. I need to return other stuff. The place had no changing rooms. I returned the Sains clothing earlier so that was good. I also bought a white stretch denim jacket but I need to try it on with potential outfits to know if I should keep it or not. I also bought a pull up navy and white play suit - but again I'm unsure but it could work around the beach / pool. I've ordered some swimwear online. I should be able to pick those up Sunday - and a second pair of my new sandals in a different colour tonight. They are super comfortable. I'll return my TK items tonight.
My concert tickets sold so that is over £350 on the way back to me.
The agency say they have a cleaner I can interview today. So that's a potential result. My food shop is also due - but I forgot cat food so need to get that later when I do my returns.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Just an observation - you spend an awful lot of time having to return things you've bought. Is there a reason for that? Overbuying, impulse purchasing, buying the wrong size, deciding you don't like it etc? You mention that you've bought swim suits and also ordered some online as well. How many are you after? Is it worth slowing down a little - trying out and dealing with the initial ones before ordering more, or waiting and thinking over purchases for a day or two before buying them? I know that it's difficult when we can't try things on in shops.
Feel free to ignore me, as I know you are in a new clothing size, but it seems like such a faff to me and just adds lots to the mental load.
Good news about the concert tickets though, and hope the cleaner works out."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee6 -
Thanks Jwil - I know I have an impulse buying problem but with clothes it's also that quite a few shops no longer have fitting rooms as was the case at two shops I went to yesterday where I mainly bought lingerie and swim wear. Also if I later find something I like more and I haven't worn/used the item yet - I may as well return it. I also like to test my purchases with my existing outfits and consider how I'd actually use them in practice. I find that easier with the physical item rather than being able to do that in my head.
I want to go on holiday asap now I've made the decision to book somewhere - but want to also feel 'prepared'. My existing swimsuits are over-sized. I like to have several so there is time for one to dry while I use the other. For a swimming pool I may well use a swim suit but for sunbathing I prefer tankinis - but they didn't have them in the right size in the shop - hence having to order. Again they didn't necessarily have the matching items in the shop I went to yesterday not helped by needing a different size top to bottom.
The cleaner did 2 hours work today and made an improvement in my lounge especially and some of my kitchen. English is her second language which made things awkward at times but she was hard working. From the sound of it she only wants to work in the house if I'm home so that may be an issue at times. In theory she's coming back next week for 3 hours so we can try and get on top of things. I was very grateful for the cleaning I'd done the last couple of nights as it was bad enough but glad she didn't see the real 'before'!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

Glad the cleaner made a difference. Agree it's annoying that things can't be tried on in a lot of places."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2

Ha when I was a cleaner I used to get annoyed because she kept her house too clean and it was hard to see what needed doing.3
