don’t think Any account makes  interest these days
Sorry but that's wrong.  I have two easy-access savings accounts, one earning 5% interest on up to £5,000 and one just under 5%, and one of my current accounts earns 1.something% interest with 1% cashback on card payments.

There are apparently accounts that earn higher interest than that but I've not had the time or energy to look into opening yet another account.
  • They are pushing to change my meter

at the moment I get 5 hours at night and 2 hours afternoon boost which I need

my meter is a very old horseman with a digital display

they are saying I won’t have heating without getting it changed asap

    Any help please

It's seven years old and not very helpful.
The OP presumably has a Radio Teleswitch which is being withdrawn or a meter which is becoming life expired.  The article does not say whether the E10 tariff will still be supported after the hardware change.

The fact that you describe the meter as "very old" may mean it is already pushing it's certification date.

The issue around the RTS switch-off is that right now, nobody really knows what "will" happen with the older meter and E10/E7 systems that rely on this for the timing switch. we can speculate about what is "likely" but in reality, only time will tell about how things actually work in practise.

If as may be the case EDF are not willing to offer you a continuation of your current tariff once the meter is changed it might be worth you looking at Octopus's new tariff which is designed for storage heater users - https://octopus.energy/smart/snug-octopus/ - that may suit your needs better than a standard economy 7 option. If you did decide to switch to Octopus following the meter change then make sure that you speak to family or friends to get a referral code from someone before switching though as that will earn you both £50 credit to your account!

I’m sure I was told I’d loose the afternoon boost if I change meters

I know it has to happen eventually, I just don’t want them to put the wrong meter in and have no heating

There have been several examples on the forum where people have lost tariffs such as E10 and have had to make do with E7.  That can cause problems with old NSHs that are too small by modern standards and rely on an afternoon boost.
It's extremely unlikely that you'd have no heating or be stuck on the expensive day rate, that sounds like scaremongering to encourage you to get a smart meter.  Much more likely that it would continue working quite happily like a digital watch or clock that's no longer checked against the Greenwich Time Signal.
