  • What does Octopus compare usage to?  Is it like last year where to get the most rewards we had to hugely increase usage in the few hours before.  Or do they compare usage on the previous day?
  • I don’t use the grid in peak times (solar + battery) how do I get paid for reducing my usage which is nearly nearly zero?
You already get paid may be the answer here?
Huh ? How do you work that out… confused.

IIRC it's the average for that period in ten(?) previous days, the most recent ones for which smart meter data is available, going back a max of 60 days.

It has been mentioned that 10% of your usage calculations come from.the day before. So what you could have done is charged your batteries today between.17:30-18:30.

Whether that is worth it or not that's up to you and probably not if you are on Agile.
I’m on flux so not much to gain, but discharging will give me perhaps 20+pence / kWh but of course export does not make my usage go negative. Also discharging means I have to import at peak rates too. Seems that exporters get zero benefit, dunno hence why my question.

Weirdly the website says I am opted in and has a countdown time.
The app says I am opted in then more info says I am not eligible.
Am I in or am I out?
Yes, curiosity got the better of me too, and I clicked the more info link. Seems they are having some issues.
  • I've been following this on many facebook groups. Apparently £2.25 per kWh exported during this period for those with batteries.

Nope - exporting during the 1hr slot earns you the bonus per kWh exported, near enough if your normal usage is near enough zero  ;)

Any algorithm changes this year? Or are we still on the T-4 -> T-1 rampage?

Edit: Looking at the procurement rules, it looks like the on-the-day adjustment doesn't exist this year so there can be no gaming the system (which, is good really - but bad for those of us who could shift usage into the T-4->T-1 window)

    1. BL01 Step 3 – Calculate Baseline Values

For each Unit Meter Point (and each Settlement Period within Settlement Day D), Baseline Value is the same as its Unadjusted Baseline Value.

Oh dear, we were out today and didn't get back until gone 6.30.  And tomorrow's dinner is using the hob for a long time   ah well, worth signing up for the prize draw anyway, even if we don't end up using any less.
