16kWh will be a challenge, but I should be able to squeeze in an hour of EV charging.

Currently running on Octopus Stream 7 days in, so charging just under 10kWh a day over 2 cars, so should be a easy win to use less even doing nothing different 🤷‍♀️

Not as good as Greener Days where there was a bonus Octopus points for the greener days (Nights) charging.

I can't even realistically get that, you have to "save" for at least 1/2 hour of the 1800-2000 window. Well berween 1800-1900 my solar will be negligible cf the ave of 1.5kWh for that period, which normally is being exported @ 28.15p, then between 1900-2000 missing 0.6 kWh gen which covers house load, therefore no free electricity on Sunday. Fill your boots folks I shall go for a pint 🍺

I follow this thread with interest, but have no solar or battery etc. Just regular gas and electricity (not E7).

Would these sessions be at all worthwhile for someone with my type of set up?

Yes, if you have a smart meter with half-hourly billing enabled.

If you can use less electricity than normal on Wednesday between 6-8pm then you qualify for a free hour of electricity on Sunday (Octopus will tell you when). Great for cooking Sunday lunch, turn on the immersion heater to top up the hot water, and do anything else that you are able.

I find you use more if you need the water to be hotter - cottons; or even run a washer cleaning cycle at high temperature.

In the NW we've got a saving session for tomorrow during the eclipse, then a free hour on Sunday if you manage to save any:-

Dig out your solar sunglasses. Dust the cobwebs off your camping chairs. There's an eclipse on Wednesday (tomorrow!) and it's the biggest of its kind since 1999! 

 While the sun takes a pause, we're challenging Octopus customers to switch off, head outside and be in nature during the eclipse. 

 As a thank you, we'll give you an HOUR OF FREE POWER on Sunday.
