having read this its all about principles, i popped into adsa yesterday hoping to get a few bargains as we needed a lot of shopping, however when i got in the store it was like feeding time at the zoo, people were filling their trolleys with lots of fruit and veg which had been bagged and reduced to 10p, they were knocking staff over with their trolleys, it was quite disgusting really, what really got me the most angry was when this lady shouts move and i turn round and look and she's banged her trolley into an elderly asian man, i turned round and asked her to mind her manners and stop being rude and ask if the manif he was okay, she didnt give a damn all she wanted was a 'bargain'.
Okay we are alll on here looking for bargains but what i saw yesterday was just plain disgusting i mean come on we can all afford food to survive in this country, i'm never ever leaving my shopping till christmas eve from now on.0 -

And yes, it does irk me slightly when there are people in more need (ie. me! ha ha) but I guess he's as entitled to a bargain as anybody else.
If you look at a tax calculator, you will see that he pays a lot of his hard earned cash to the elderly and those that claim benefits. I agree that he has as much right to a bargain as others, but because he is working, he may not have time to get those discount prices. So good luck to him when he finds them.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

I think reallongshanks meant they were "offended" as one of their countrymen had behaved so badly. At least, I hope that is what they meant.RENTING? I watched in disbelief as the Xmas bouquets were getting reduced. The way that people were manhandling them meant that most of the arrangements were left with half the blooms they started with.0

A lot of these people are shopping not only for themselves but for the extended family which often includes the elderly as well as children.
I love buying reduced items...my favourite time is Xmas Eve as everything is reduced right down....I then buy as much as I can and have a tea party at my house for family. This is exactly what I am planning for today!
It doesn't matter what background you're from, everyone has a bit of a bargain hunter in them. I have a good career and my colleagues and I are all equally keen bargain hunters.
The facts are that in the Out-of-date bins over 80% of the people who regualrly dip in there are non-white.
How you interpret that comment is up to you.0 -

Hey, lets stop this now - from what I can see this is a thread about reduced food in supermarkets - What has this got to do with race / colour. This may be a fact where you live, but oddly enough it isn't where I live and to tell you the truth, I couldn't care less what colour or race a person is. What I can't stand is rudeness, greed and bad behaviour. I was in a Waitrose, when someone who was very well spoken and sounded educated (similar to a similar person on a train recently who refused to take his feet off the seat in front, when asked) snatched a roast from under my nose and added "you have to be smart and quick at this game" - I replied by saying "looks like you also need a lot of front and be rude !"
I like a bargain, but try to be fair - if someone looks as though they need the item more than me, I let them have it. If other want items I'm interested in, I try to share them - What annoys me is the sheer greed (whatever the reason) of some people. I totally agree wioth the supermarkets who insist that goods are taken from the reduced shelf rather than the assistants hand - this give people a fairer chance. There should be no reducing of items in people's hands - I've seen people fill whole trollies and then take them to be reduced - if that's not enough, they then get them re-reduced. One person who incidentally didn't fit into the category you described above, regularly then showed his staff discount card to get discout off his reductions.
Reduced items give me the chance of trying items I wouldn't otherwise buy, and often I then buy these at full price later. If people cannot behave themselves, supermarkets will stop reductions and we will all lose out.
ADMIN - CAN YOU PLEASE EDIT / REMOVE THIS WHOLE THREAD ON THE BASIS IT HAS POSSIBLY BECOME RACIST AS A RESULT OF POSTINGS LIKE THE ONE QUOTED ABOVE.
More proof, if it was needed, of the bandwagon that people jump on regarding 'racism'. If anyone draes to mention someones colour, or culture these days they get branded racist. How depressing...0
