We're not on the breadline by any means, but we've only one income and there's four of us living on it so any extra help is welcome. I do make a point of doing my supermarket shop at the time I know they'll be doing the evening reductions and sometimes I'm lucky, sometimes I'm not. I don't however buy vast amounts of bargains that I don't need...just what I know I'll use up with a few days. There will be more reduced stuff the next week! I must spend thousands per year at my local Tesco, so I deserve a few perks.

And most of us here are reading these threads because we're good thrifty shoppers and want to stretch our hard earned pennies as far as possible, surely?

I'm intending to visit 3 too...ASDA, Sainsbury's and then Morrisons.

Need to find out what time they all close first though!!!

i am sure the mention of halal food is meant for a certain community

I apologise for any offence caused. I was just relaying my personal experience. Post amended.

I always have a nosey to see what bargains there are.

Only the other week in my local Tesco's, the shopworker was stocking the trolley back up to take the food away. My favourite snack was right on the top so I asked her if it would it be ok for me to take it and she said yes, it's all going to be skipped now!

Surely that is the most scandalous thing to happen - destroying perfectly good food. Supermarkets could reduce items to silly low prices or even give it away to the needy or whoever wants it rather than throw it away.
  • im going food bargain hunting today too, i dont care what anyone thinks..i have no shame, im proud to get a bargain...
  • Whilst I do understand where you're comming from with your post, I'm not entirely fond of the tone within it. You do not know theese people and the reasons behind why they behave the way they do. I am one of theese folk. I am on the bread line. I may not like having to purchase food in this manner but I quite often have to if I'm to eat (and try to gain) a varied and marginaly 'healthy' diet. I've been out of work for over nine months now, I've tried so hard to find work and to get back to being able to affording my own way again. But the thing is I get no help at all in trying to find work from the jobcentre and GOD knows I've asked. So when you're hearded around, growled at by 'holier than thou's' behind desks and treated like an animal, it really isn't long untill you begin "scavenging" like an animal....just to get by.

I'm sorry that my post sounds like quite a rant, but the 1st post did get to me a little.

No offence was intended to any reader. Unfortunately, in a bid to write as quickly as possible and to include all the points, I sometimes don't fully explain fully what i mean to say. I hope that you get the jist of my original post.

There is no ''grabbit'' but i did suggest the post be moved if it were in the wrong place. Oh too be perfect in every forum.

I've seen white, chinese, asian etc people take advantage of the reduced food. There's no shame in in and there shouldn't be prejudice about it. My gripe is rude people who grab everything no matter what culture they come from.
