  • It seems that everything you say nowadays will offend someone.

I'm sick of all this PC nonsense.......if people are offended on the slightest whim then let them be offended.
If you are going to be offended make sure it's something worthwhile.

I will buy food that's discounted but if I have to fight over it I won't bother. If I see ten pizzas that are reduced to a quarter of their original price I take two I don't believe in being greedy, leave some for others. I also wait until the assistant puts them on the shelf I'm sure it must be terrible for the assistants people snatching stuff off of her trolly.

Another thing which is very rude, don't use your mobile phone at the checkout. The checkout girl wants your full attention when she asks for the money.

ADMIN - CAN YOU PLEASE EDIT / REMOVE THIS WHOLE THREAD ON THE BASIS IT HAS POSSIBLY BECOME RACIST AS A RESULT OF POSTINGS LIKE THE ONE QUOTED ABOVE.

George Orwell strikes again, debate is healthy and should not be banned.
I am not offened and i am Scotish with redhair and lefthanded.
  • i WAS joking obviously!!!! re a previuos "deeply offended post" no harm meant

    ahh no harm done :D

Things get misinterpreted on the internet easily, without face to face contact and body language to read.
  • Think its time this post was put to rest, what say you?

The facts are that in the Out-of-date bins over 80% of the people who regualrly dip in there are non-white.

How you interpret that comment is up to you.

It could possible mean two things:

    1) Non whites are more money savvy than their white counterparts...so lets learn :money:

    or

    2) They genuinely are not as well off as their white counterparts which explains the regular dip anyways. ;)

Anyways, this reminds me of the story 'The fox and the grapes' :p

I agree - How about we delete all the "off-subject posts" - I'll start with mine - nothing wrong with the original post and the relevant discussion that followed.

    Exactly - well put.

What it certainly DOES NOT mean is that the person who notices it is racist...

Obviously these days mentioning race or colour in ANY context is seen as racist and/or discriminatory.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read my post above and put this to bed.
  • another side to the debate... some groups in society need to be careful with their money, whether through low income, unemployment, large families to feed or whatever. Others just like a bargain! Either way, whats the problem?

I fall into both categories at the moment, however, I do always try to be polite and not elbow others out the way etc to get them - I have always found little old ladies do best at the elbowing tactics anyway, (look out for them in the january sales!) cos no one will shove them back!

I recently lived in the netherlands, there was a big outdoor market nearby, in a largely muslim area - lots of older muslim ladies would shop there, and were always keen to find the bargains - as was I - I found that aiming for the stalls with the largest gang of muslim grannies was a good way of finding the bargains!! Good luck to them I say - what is wrong with being money savvy and thrifty?? I just thought they were canny shoppers!

If you feel its turning into a bit of a free for all, either get into the spirit of it and throw yourself into the fray, or politely say 'excuse me please' or avoid the reduced counter!
